But they look cool.

The guards should be in the room during the confrontation cuz they are always there. It would be nice to see some action coming from them.

Given the fact that everybody knows shit about the real progress of the Mace-Palpatine-Anakin scenario at the moment, the changes for Guard action are still intact.

New Before the Helmet pic... Awesome... Ani in the opening space battle. Inside his Jedi starfighter. You can see a small part of another ship, and i mean a SMALL part.

I wonder if "I'm on the Leader" implies he's chasing Grievous in the opening space battle ... or maybe he actually says it in the movie (nod to ANH). :monocle:

Awesome. His outfit looks like the same one from the latest Web-Doc. Here's the caption:

As numerous plots and conspiracies enter their respective endgames, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) is once again witness to momentous events that will forever change the Republic.

Two things I don't get... if this is on a Separatist ship, why is the chair design like a larger version of the one in Palpatine's office? Sure the art guys thought they'd give him *another* chair that looks a little bit like the Emperor's chair... but why? It wasn't necessary here. It's also weird that a command chair such as that, with buttons and things at the fingertips, could have two big binders stuck to it like that... it's not very logical! Ahhh, nice pic though.

The only thing I can think to explain his difference is that perhaps George originally intended for the Emperor's ROTJ look to just be because of old age and use of the Dark Side. So for AOTC he began to age him towards that. When writing Episode III, he decided to explain his ROTJ look by having Palpatine have two looks in III and a specific event explaining the look change. Now, if they had left Palps looking as he did in AOTC in Episode III, or aged him another 3 years, then the difference between that Palpatine and the ROTJ Palpatine, when the specific event happened, wouldn't be that big. The difference would be hardly noticeable. So Lucas decided to scale back the old age makeup for III.

I'm not making excuses for George... if Palpatine really looks that different from AOTC in III than there better be an onscreen reason for it. But this could be a reason why it was done.

I'm open to the possibility that it's just a different take on his makeup. In truth, he didn't look as bad in AOTC as that still makes it seem. I bet the audience won't even notice. It's not as if he looks like a young man in the Ep3 pic.

Palps looks nothing like that photo in the comparison in AOTC. Those makeup effects are way overexaggerated in that still. I personally don't see a difference between the ON SCREEN AOTC palps and the Ep3 palps.

Ok. It is the bridge area of the Star Destroyer. It was the last set shot for the Sydney shoot. It was where a certain dark Sith Lord stood. ;)

It is the Star Destroyer set, looks just like the set from Empire when Vader is talking to the bounty hunters. Speaking of Vader, there is big black cape in the upper left corner, looks like it could be Vader, but it is obstructed by the studio overhang, wonder who's boots are just beneath the same overhang, maybe Tarkin?

Man... Hyperspace renewal sucks balls.

I renewed immediately after getting the email. They charged me right away and I'm still waiting for activation.

This is after two calls.

Man, I sure could go for a little Star Destroyer management style choking right now on the subscription department.

It looks like I need to call again.

I'll post back when I finally get back in.

I'm also waiting for my confirmation code. I called today and was told that the codes had been sent out and that I should receive the e-mail tomorrow. Here's hoping.

So the code isn't the same as the code we get on our order confirmation? And if it is what do I do with it? This may be different for me cos I'm non-US subscription.

Anyway, this is off-topic, sorry. Just jealous cos I wanna see the Star Destroyer. NOW GODDAMIT!

I also think we can see Vader (or at least his cape) at the upper left of the pic.

Look at the filename of that pic: ep3_ia_68650_r_dv_remove.jpg

DV = Darth Vader

But what is that "r" for and what does the remove mean?

Well, after waiting a week for my friggin renewal code to arrive, I finally get a chance to check out the new BTH and... I like it. When I read the title, STAR DESTROYER BRIDGE, I was expecting something a little more... horizontal, but still a great image.

Finally got my renwal code. One of the first to sign up last year... one of the last to get my renwal. Oh well. Hyperspace is still cool in my book.

This picture is pretty cool. I do think it's Palps and Vader in the shot. I can only hope that we get a camera angle of Vader's boots walking past the crew pit from their POV.

We'll know in less than a year.

Well, the boots look nothing like Vader or Palps. Looks more like a Tarkin-esque character. Sids (or Vader if the one we see is Sids) could be under the scaffolding thing.

I'd say it's quite possible. If the movie does indeed have a shot with Vader, Tarkin, and Palps looking out the window of the Star Destroyer, Vader would probably have to walk TO the window. I think it would be kickass if Tarkin and Palps were at the window, and then they show a door sliding open to reveal Darth Vader. Then we get a crew pit camera view of his boots walking by - and all the crewmen looked scared as shit at the huge mechanical monster walking by them (I'm thinking an Admiral Piettish look at the end of ESB when the Falcon takes off into Hyperspace... that was a scared shitless look for sure :D).

New Before the Helmet pic is up early today. It is of a wookiee warrior named Tarfful. He is holding up a creatureshop guy. Kinda funny. Huge.

I dunno, I think Chewie will be an average wookiee. Those "warriors" will be the big ass buff motherfucker wookiees. Crazy wookiee marine corps jarheads.

Newest BTH: Window to the Future

A closeup of the Jedi starfighter's cockpit window showing the TIE ancestry in full unfuzzy glory.

Not 100% new for some of us who saw the blurry pictures before; but, still better than some of the BTHs thus far.

I wonder when we'll get another completed shot like we did with Ani in the starfighter?

What's up with the OS and their sloppy proof reading as of late?

"Examination the new Jedi starfighter reveals the details that tie the saga together."

Shouldn't there be an "of" between the words "Examination" and "the"?

Yesterday in the story for the Emperor's holo figure they quoted ESB at the top of the page:

"The Emperor commands you make contact with him."

There should be a "to" between the words "you" and "make".

That window design reminds me of the Republic/Imperial symbol.

But, as for functionality, all those spokes are not good for the pilot's having an unobstructed view. It feels like they just stuck it on there to say "hey remember the OT? It was cool, huh?" ... :?

So obstructed views are cool in the OT but not the PT?

That's not what the pilot looks through anyway. What we're looking at here is lower down towards their feet... they look through a normal cockpit canopy higher up that is out of shot.

I know what the Jedi Starfighter looks like, thank you. Maybe more than most.

DZ- You're obviously not aware of the size of this window. It can't be more than 2 feet in diameter.

It just looks cheap and contrived these days. Lucas is going to be completely out of new innovative designs in another six months at this rate...

Meh - it's pretty cool. Better than the KnollVision crap. It's funny, it looks it's ready to be be entered into a Pod Race.

And are those fire extinguishers?

Now Tern - recent threads on this board begs me to ask this question:

Are you picturing Princess Leia with tape on her nipples or sans tape? ;)
