Revenge of the Sith vs Return of the Jedi

Postby CoGro » October 24th 2004 2:08 am

We've been informed that there will be similarities between Anakin's journey to the darkside and Luke's flirtation with it.

GL has said Anakin is confronted with similar situations Luke had in ROTJ but obviously, makes different choices.

After watching ROTJ just now, I cant help but choke up at some scenes involving the Emperor, Vader and Luke. IMO some of the best scenes in that film are the Emperor trying to seduce Luke to the darkside and just picturing the same situations with Anakin gave me goosebumps. Thinking about it makes the redemption of Vader in ROTJ that much more satisfying to me....the funeral and the victory celebration with the force ghosts is really gonna pack an emotional punch when Revenge is seen.

What do you guys think

I've seen that film countless times, but when I decided to watch it and consider the story the prequels are telling, I cried at the end.

Yeah, that happened to me late year.
I don't think many people realise what Lucas is trying to achieve with the prequels - they'll be the last ones to find out when ROTS is released and they find a new sense of appreciation in the prequels.

Near as I can figure those folks who weren't satiated by AOTC could never be pleased with anything that George Lucas could have come up with for the prequels. When I first saw AOTC in the theaters I was awestruck, I mean completely flabbergasted by the time it was over. The Jedi arena battle, the beginning of the Clone Wars, the Yoda/Dooku duel were all IMO simply exquisite cinema moments that harkened back to magic of the OT. I remember coming out thinking that there was no way that people would slag it like they did TPM.

Unfortunately I was wrong and the anti-fanboys and AICN talkbacker types though still a minority are a very VOCAL minority. Most of them complained about the very same scenes that I loved in the movie. Especially the anti-Yoda duel fuckwads who called the fight cheesey. WTF is wrong with these cold hearted cynics? I have never understood those who revere the OT so much but can't show Lucas one shred of respect when it comes to their prequel rantings. WAAH WAAH- LUCA$ RAPED MY CHILDHOOD'S ANUS!

Oh well fuck them because once Revenge of the Sith is released watch how people jump on the bandwagon and begin to revamp their opinions of the PT.

I hear your cries Eye, but really don't concern yourself too much with the basher crowd. They will find new and inventive ways to trash anything. SW is a massive target, a massive franchise, you're always gonna have groups out to bring it down. ROTS could be the most wildly revered piece of cinema in the history of exquisite cinema and you'll still have a bloodthirsty posse out to tear it down.

My advice is, cherish these movies in your way and just ignore the flippant remarks that are only there to coach negative responses.

I was being interviewed by this twerp from G4 about the prequels and he asked me in a very menacing tone what I thought of Lucas now that he had raped our childhoods and turned Star Wars into a joke. I told him he was being a little bitch, and if a movie affected him like that, he had fucking problems.

Needless to say, that never made t.v.
