Most users ever online was 290 on Mon Jan 03, 2005 9:57 pm

The previous record was on a July 27 2004 and had in the range of 240 to 280 users online. I don't recall the exact number but it was due to our Return of the Jedi DVD "release".

Our actual record amount of users was in the 750 to 790 range in August thanks to a Fark/SlashDot combo, which got us shut down for a few days. When we moved to a new server, again to accomodate the traffic, we used a slightly older backup to restore the database so the obscene number only appeared for a short time.

Thanks to Hard Copy and Spoileriffic, we would be breaking records daily on the previous server but we always timed out whenever we got 250+ users online.

PHPBB records users online every 5 minutes. Other boards such as Invision measure users online at 15 minute intervals. PHPBB has a modification that broadens the 5 minute range to 15 minutes thus puffing up your users online number.
