That's a pretty horrible album title.

I love Weezer's first two records. I mean, they are just perfect. I really hope the title isn't a reflection on the new album's music. They have too much talent to keep making the crap like Green and some portions of Maladroit. I've had the chance to hear some of the new album's songs live, but I've refused. After what happened with "Slob" on Maladroit, I'd rather just wait and hear after they've ruined it or made it better.

Right you are Jason.

The title is so...strange. The album is so mysterious and I'm not sure I want to know anything more of this Make Beleive Weezer album.

I've heard a portion of the new single, Beverly Hills on some fansite that was recorded from a cell phone. It sounds like a basic summer fun song.

I think Rivers found out that he didn't have to try so hard and he would still get laid, paid, and made famous.

Make Believe sounds like a Britney Spears album. Or like it could be about riding on a goddamned enchanted unicorn.

Have you heard anything else about the sound of this record? Like which previous album is sounds the most like? All my chances to hear this stuff hit when the Nirvana box set was just hitting, so I kind of ignored post-good =w=

Karl over at weezer.com was talking about the album a bit.

"Beverly Hills" is a pretty catchy track and was practically begging to be a single, but its important to know that its but one piece of a fairly complex album pie, and to any concerned that Album 5 is just a collection of 'fun' songs, fear not - theres many flavors to come.

The makeup of the album is roughly as follows - about half of the tracks are from the summer/fall '04 sessions at Grandmaster. These are what remain of the 12 songs originally intended to be the album, chosen from Rivers spring '04 demo sessions. The other half of the album is a mix of songs from the original 12/03 recording sessions at Cello (that have now been finished up with Rivers recent vocal sessions, etc), and several songs from fall '04 that were worked on by the rest of the band after Rivers went to school for the fall semester (which have also now been finished up with the recent addition of Rivers vocals.)

Some of those 03 songs have a hint of Maladroit.
We get what we get... :monocle:

That's what makes me so pissed about Rivers. He wrote Pinkerton, took a long break and came back without any passion or effort half the time. I saw Weezer 20 times in the Summer of 2000, and he was writing good songs. Most of those good songs have all been singles on the last two albums. I think he decided to hold the good stuff and space it out over a few albums and then to just write filler beyond those singles.

Every song holds up on Pinkerton. It's a cohesive album.

I really hope that new record is good, but the title isn't making me think its going to be.

I'll like it, I know it.

It's like a Star Wars movie. Everyone hopes it'll be really great, but even if it isn't, we'll all love it.

I think I've heard some of one of the new songs. I can't remember where I heard it. I think it was on the DVD they released last year. It sounded pretty good to me. If the Maladroit-type songs of Make Believe are like the first half of Maladroit, then they'll be alright. I tned to like Weezer even if they put a few emo, mainstream songs on their CDs.

Yeah, you're thinking of "Prodigy Lover." The song was great, but it got scrapped. They also played about 11 seconds of their new single "Beverly Hills" on KROQ out here in LA. They said it'll be officially released around the 16th. It sounds great!

Album artwork looks fine to me, except Scott's arms look a bit to long and Rivers looks like he's 12.

I was able to hear all of "Beverly Hills" last night. It's honestly sounds like a washed up old guy trying to fit in with "the kids." It sounds like Mr. Big.

You wrote "The Good Life" mother fucker! What the hell happened to you?

:( Poor Rivers.

I really don't understand him. Or his fans. We all kind of expect a new Pinkerton, but it just ain't gonna happen.

My hopes are high for this one. And as for "Beverly Hills," I like it more everytime I hear it.

I didn't like it on my first listen, the repetative chords kind of gave it that El Scorcho sound which was cool but it just doesn't go anywhere... but it sort of grows on you. I still have high hopes for the album though. We'll see.
