Troy tell us about tha storms that hit ya.

We got hit hard by two Hurricanes in 2004. Hurricane Frances and Jeanne, came one right after the other, which destroyed our hood and knocked out power for a total of two weeks. (Frances for one week, then Jeanne for almost another week).

Here is the story he pm'd to me:

They're saying now that it was just t/storm w/heavy winds. And torrential rain. And fist sized hail. Wind got up to 90-100 mph from 5-10 mph in about 3 minutes. I got home from work about six and it was sunny and hot, and was just taking my shoes off when I heard the howling. I looked outside and couldn't see my front yard, just leaves and garbage and rain going sideways. All in all I got it pretty easy compared to a lot of people in my town. Worked all day yesterday clearing debris and shit but other than a lot of shop-vac duty I'm basically back to normal.

And just in case you didn't really give enough of a shit to have to read all of this I brought pictures.

That was the view out my front door. There is actually a street out there somewhere. Luckily that water provided me with a free indoor pool in my basement. To bad I didn't know it was coming.







And thats the worst of what I got. It didn't go through the roof though, so I'm better off than a lot of folks.



Like these people who live 5 or 6 blocks away. Good thing too because I got a thousand dollar deductable and about $50 in the bank.

Anyways, no big deal really. I didn't want to derail the res-comics thread with my less than impressive tale so I pm'd you about it. And the moral of this story.....fuck arbor day!!

Thanks for the concern folks. I have a sore back and two big piles of shit for some public piles of shit remover person to come and get. But other than that and a lot less shade around my house it looks like it did before. I needed the excercise anyways.

But the most important thing I learned is this. Using cheap imitation leather gloves long after they have been soaked in rainwater and muck (and working for hours with them while they squish that sick rancid lunchmeat squish that only cheap wet imitation leather can) can make your hands smell like dead infected possum vagina for days afterward.

I don't think what we got even compares to hurricane damage though. Maybe if hurricanes only lasted for 45 minutes total. My power was on the next day, some people have been off since Wednsday. I can't imagine the b.o. I'd have if it was off for two weeks. Good thing it's on too, because it's our first anniversary, and I'm on vacation for a week, and I'm looking to score some "Mrs O's Hunny Buns".
