Question, in all sincerity, as a user who has enjoyed all the MF.com has had to offer over the years and as someone who has written a book and is trying to get it published (i.e. financially compensated for the effort), what is a creative artist supposed to do in an age of free file sharing? I'm all for free speech and innovation - in sharing what we like and allowing people to sample products before buying (i.e. sampling a new film before going to the theater and purchasing tickets - and beverages and snacks; buying home viewing options - Blu-Ray, Netflix, iTunes download, etc.). What's the balance? How do we safeguard an individual's right to sharing files with the right of an owner of Intellectual Property to be compensated for their work?
Note: I'm not saying already proposed laws are the answer - they aren't.
