Hey Harry,

First time writing in, don't usually do this sort of stuff, but I thought you might like to know the rumour I've been told from a friend who works at Sony Pictures. Warning: This is probably bullshit, but it sounded interesting enough to be passed on, if only as a possibility.

Apparently the first outline of the Spiderman 3 movie has been completed, although a decision is still to be made on whether Sam Raimi is still directing. Anyway, the script involves Spider-Man going up against the Chameleon and his brother (Brother?) Kraven the Hunter. When Spidey stops the Chameleon from embezzling all the Daily Bugle's money, he enlists Kraven to help him in hunting Spider-Man down. The interesting part of this story is that the script allegedly calls for one person to act as the Chameleon, including impersonating all the other people that he disguises himself as (as opposed to MI2 style Tom Cruise playing someone else playing him, before some "mask" is pulled off). Despite this sounding unlikely, I thought you might like to know what I've been told.

I highly doubt you'll publish this, but if you do, call me Bacon Powder...

They could just use the USM version of the Black Suit - which would cut out a lot of the issues that would surface regarding the Secret Wars parts

Yeah, I would love to see the editors grow some balls and let writers do what is good for stories and characters, rather than the hip-pocket. Some of the storylines I've heard about that have been nixed would have been good.

But, while I don't see a need for the Ultimate line, it doesn't change the fact that the writing in it is usually fairly good, and so is the art. I just wish that they'd give writers more freedom like they did to Morrison, and put some of the more forward-thinking writers on the major titles.

Behind Spidey in that last pic there looks to be 3 movie names. I'm pretty sure that the 3rd one down is "Punisher 2" or failing that "Hulk 2", but I can't work out what the other 2 could be even knowing the plans they have.

No, they pushed this one to get it out in two years. If they go with Venom in 3, he’ll likely be all CGI. That could explain it. The CGI in the first one was poor.

If you look at the trailer for the second one, you can already see some bad CGI in this one. The scene of him spinning on the pole in the subway car and the scene of Doctor Octopus throwing something at him while he’s web-swinging, well, it looks bad.

now that he almost got an oscar for "Sideways" (Thomas Haden Church) makes sense that he's doign as big budget as he can.. eh was nobody for a long time.. wings is old right?

he seems like he could have teh intenisity and at least he has teh hair.. my parter said that she thought it was silly they didnt just have the villain be hobgoblin since thats how they seemed to end teh last movie..

i said they just wanted to have two or more villains is all like they id with batman

Who is TopherGopher playing? Electro or Venom? I love the motherfuck out of the Symbiote no matter who's wearing it: Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Toxin, etc. However, it's sorta early in the Spider-Man series to bring about Venom. Electro if done right would be fucking cool.

3) It is impossible for spider-man and venom (both wearing the symbiote's) to go head to head?

I did not say that they were both symbiotes, i said that each character would be wearing the costume that was developed for them, i.e both wearing black in this sequence, which does not mean to say that Tobey's costume is a symbiote. I have said enough.

Marcus here, i got like a million e-mails and this site only went up today and the moment i mentioned Spider-man 3 i had to block the comments coming in since their were so many. So for the sake of it i thought i might just drop you little tid bits involving Mr Grace, since im working for him as Costume Assistance, which is a job that does not involve me communicating with him believe it or not. Im not allowed to say too much, but i doubt this would do any harm if i was to tell you about my job in more detail and about the 'Venom' costume which james is working on.

We are working on tobey's black 'symbiote' costume, which is refered to as 'SYMBIOTE#01' because the second version will be worn by Mr Grace. The second version is more advance and we are considering to use motion capture technology, i believe that this would accompany the CGI that was done in the first spider-man movie as i have been told. However you should not expect Venom to be wearing a costume as such because their isn't any, we are considering that he would be wearing a green suit, so that with the CG the 'SYMBIOTE#02' design can be overlayed on him. Sony has spent billions apparently over the years on the whole franchise, but with new developing technology such as pixar's renderman, the job is getting easily done. The fight scenes between tobey and mr grace are also something which we (well them) are looking at, the script is complete and their will be a huge fight which involves tobey getting his portion of the suit (SYMBIOTE#01) completely weakened by the more stronger suit worn by mr grace (SYMBIOTE #02).

Their are about 60 more people working as costume assistance's and ideas are being contributed in all the time, as they are also improving, however these ideas do not effect the script as thats carved in stone, but they only improve it visually. I've said enough, so just dont start passing this info around because the last thing i want is to be thrown out of something big. And remember this could all change. That's all i could tell you...right now but keep checking back for the plastic cast results from mr grace.

Well, until Sam Raimi fucks this franchise up, I'm going to believe that any idea he has will be great. I love 1 & 2 and I like all of the creative decisions he has taken. If Grace will be Venom, bring it on. Although his build does suit Carnage more than Venom. I also heard some rumors about Harry Osborn as the Goblin saving Spider-Man/Peter's life when he is fighting Sandman/Venom. That would be an interesting turn as well.

I dunno', if they are really going to go with the black suit, I was hoping for something a little sleeker, more symbiote-like (even if they can't fit the origin of that look into the story-line, at least similar). This looks a bit like the 'armored' spider-man.

Still, interesting new look, if it's really the way they are going.

Yes if they are going to go black - they should go all the way. A black version of the red and blue is "aight" but it's no where near as cool looking as the symbiote.

Totally agree. I always liked the big white spider logo on the black suit but it doesn't look like they included it unless it's smaller and is being covered up by his arm.

Looks like there might also be some sort of reflection of another character in his eye. Hard to tell though, may be nothing.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Perhaps, from the look of the mask, a character whose name starts with a "V" and ends with an "-enom," but I think that may just be my wishful thinking.

So are we assuming that his suit is black because of the symbiote?
Could he have made the black to suit to mourn the loss of someone close to him?
Does it help him hide in the shadows, not only from his enemies, but from those that hate him from the slander printed in the Daily Bugle?

Like, what I'm wondering is that can there be other possible explanations instead of assuming the obvious answer of Venom?
And even if Venom is in the movie and the symbiote merges with Eddie Brock, why would Spiderman also adopt a black suit to battle him?

I know I'm probably making this more complicated than I have to because the easiest answer is the simpliest one, but did I hear or read some where that Sam Raimi said that either he didn't like Venom or Venom wasn't going to to be in the last Spider-man movie?

One thing that I've noticed is that the suit looks like it's made up of a bunch of scales. But then I looked on the other posters, and his suit does have a "scaley" look, but not as pronounced as in the SM3 poster.

It is common knowledge that in the past, Raimi has talked about his dislike of the Venom character, instead having a great appreciation for some of the original older villains (i.e. Doc Ock, Goblin, Mysterio). I believe he finally gave in to fan pressure since Venom is the numero uno on fan list. Also, originally, the alien symbiote merged with Spider-Man until Peter realized that the alien was trying to take over. At that point, he tried to destroy it. It got away and merged with Eddie Brock. This is why everyone believes that Venom is definitely in this movie. Also, the rumors have been flying for months that Topher Grace is definitely Eddie Brock.

Another rumor I have been hearing is that Harry will definitely become Green Goblin II(Hobgoblin perhaps?) and at the end of the movie *spoiler warning maybe* he will save Peter when Sandman and Venom team up to destroy Spider-Man. That could definitely be interesting.

Anyway, I love everything I see about this movie. SM1 was great, SM2 was 10 times better than SM1, so I only have high hopes about it. The only depressing part is another year and a half.

Yeah, I had heard that too about Harry saving Spiderman, however, I had heard that Venom is human for the majority of the film, and then, at the very end, duels Sandman in a clash of villains, setting him up for S4.

Now if they can bring in Carnage in S4 or 5, we'll be good to go.

yep, at first Spidey dug the alien suit thought he was a hip mofo until things went sour. It sought out ( a pissed off) Eddie Brock and Venom was born.

The best explanation I've seen out there is that nothing is in the eye. Each person sees what they would like to see most. Some people out there will swear up and down that it is Venom. But really there is nothing there. I believe it is Raimi trying to pull a trick on everyone. On the SM2 poster Doc Ock was clearly visible. When the teaser Episode III poster came out, people went crazy trying to find everything in Vader/Anakin's Cape. This is just great advertising getting everyone to talk about the poster.

Yet their newfound open display of love has yielded some unfortunate results, not the least of which is Peter's upset boss determined to make his life hell for causing his son emotional distress. Not helping is a young investigative reporter named Eddie Brock who Jameson has hired to find out why Mary Jane dumped his son for Peter - what's Parker's secrets?

At the same time an escaped prisoner hiding out on a remote beach is caught in a dreadful accident and finds himself turned into a shape-shifting sand creature. The filming of 3 & 4 together has been a rumor floating around since SM2 was released. I don't believe that Raimi is doing this although he certainly started filming early enough to shoot 2 movies. Here we are a year and 3 months away from 3 and they are already heavily into filming. It is possible, but unlikely. Anyway, that summary is the the most descriptive I've heard about this movie. I don't know where Dark Horizon is getting that kind of information but I do like the thoughts on how they introduce Eddie Brock and the symbiote (or whatever it will be called in this movie). I believe they needed a more "down to earth" idea for the black suit than alien.

The rumor is that a meteor containing the symbiote falls to Earth. At some point, Peter walks by the crash and the symbiote attaches itself to his shoe.

In the comics, Peter gets the suit from a machine during the Marvel Secret Wars.

... Church has been working for the past 13 months on another expected blockbuster, the eagerly anticipated "Spider-Man 3." Church was offered the role of the villainous Sandman in January 2005 but was sworn to secrecy by director Sam Raimi about revealing anything about his part. The two have since become good friends, and Church was brought directly into the creative process.

"Sam and I started having really involved sessions about who the guy was," Church says. "Clearly, it's taken from the fourth issue of 'Spider-Man,' which was when Sandman was introduced and which I now have framed on my wall."

Church is still sworn to secrecy regarding plot details (he might want to consider moonlighting as a CIA agent), but he wants to let fans know they won't be disappointed.

"I'm overwhelmed every time I'm around Sam," Church says. "He's been showing me [stuff] since the beginning of last summer.

'This is what we are going to be doing in this sequence, this is what Spider-Man is going to be doing and this is what Venom is going to be doing.' It is a massive, massive process."

Nothing though, prepared Church for what occurred when Sony Pictures released the first image of him as the Sandman on the web.

"They gave me a stack of printed out [posting-board mentions], and it was too much," Church says of the massive pile. "We were all sitting around like going through it and it was all like, 'Dude, that picture of Sandman rules! Church is perfect for the part!' [It makes me] think it's really the biggest superhero franchise."
