No idea why there was never discussion on this movie as of yet, so I'll start it off along with this interview with Groening and Jean intermixed with clips from the movie.

I'll say this: I am a diehard fan. As much a nerd I am for Star Wars I am for the Simpsons. It basically defines my sense of humour and helped me realize a lot of my creative talents. I think seasons 3-6 are the best television in the history of the medium. In the same breath I'll say that the show has become unwatchably bad over the past 5 years or so. As bad as Scully's reign was, Al Jean has reduced to show to rubble. I could go on a 10 page tirade about what's wrong with the show these days but I am willing to give the movie a chance to redeem the integrity of the series. After all, some of the best writers in the show's history came together to build the movie and the show's best director, David Silverman, is helming the project.

That being said, these clips represent everything that's wrong with the show today. It isn't funny, it's uninspired and overall uninteresting. I'm still going to let the final product speak for itself, but I don't know what to say except that I'm preparing for the worst.

Title: Mortician
I always liked this show. Don't know if I'll make the theatre for this one, but I will definately see it at some point.

P.S- Ralphie Wiggum has some of the best dialogue ever written in the history of the world. Hope he gets in the movie.

I just hope the movie doesn't become one big 90 minute cameo for all characters from the show. Focus on the Simpsons family and one crisis and go from there. Don't make room for every single character from the show to have screen time. A little Moe, Flanders, Barney, Smithers, Burns, Chief Wiggum, Ralph and Apu goes a long way. Leave everyone else out.

I loved the show in the beginning, agree that it's gotten pretty weak over the years. Although not necessarily what I want to watch when I go to a theater, I do kind of look forward to seeing this.
There's been some controversy apparently over Bart's pecker being shown.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I never thought nudity or fart jokes made this show funny. I want dry wit and clever writing with interesting homages and compelling storytelling...

The best episodes involved teaching some sort of life lesson, but now Homer has been reduced to a bumbling fool with no real character. Whatever.

The numerous clips I've seen of this film make it look horrible.

Well, saw it....and basically it's a complete waste of money. Yes, I ACTUALLY paid for this movie. That says alot, the fact I couldn't get a free pass says to me they're doing it for the $ and not for the quality of the thing, I mean...I don't wanna brag, but pretty much all BIG movie previews I'll see 2 - 4 weeks in advance of release, which is partly because we're owned by a massive movie studio, but partly because they [the movie companies] know to butter up the media, regardless of a films quality...I mean, we get some shit sent to us...but we go along, to give our opinions on it.

This time though, they wanted my $....and it wasn't worth it.

It's all about Homer, which is great...if you like Homer, but he's not even a REAL Simpsons Homer, because too much of a good thing, is a bad thing....they fuck it up by making him a fool, when he's normally just a loveable loaf...they waste Albert Brooks with a character so boring, it's ACTUALLY boring.

They waste Monty Burns - my favorite character - so much I could've walked out when his bit-part was done, Moe, Skinner and half a dozen other Simpsons Characters. They take the Simpsons OUT of springfield which is a MASSIVE mistake and the rest is just lame jokes and a piss poor resolution.

The underlying theme of movie is a bullshit global warming message so obvious it'll have Al Gore doing his presentations in the carpark afterwards to a full crowd....and some half arsed politcal message about the Bush Government that everybody with half a fucking brain ALREADY KNOWS stinks up the world. Leave it to the Simpsons to get on that boat not only 3 years too late, but in a full on feature film.

Quit trying to make a fucking point, and entertain me. We've already got movies shoving Global Warming and the Bush administration down our throats, if I want to see political commentry, I'll stick on CNN for two hours....

Ugh, I can't be bothered writing more. You'll go see it, like the rest of the planet....but fuck, send a mesage to FOX - don't buy the DVD....don't buy the tie-in products and for fucks sake, if we get a sequel...use the FUCKING SIMPSONS CHARACTERS you've created over the last billion years, instead of wasting them away with one-liners and brief cameo scenes.

...oh and, Spider Pig was the best bit of the whole movie, but they forget he existed within minutes of the joke being laid to rest....being that the little fella was the McGuffin for the whole premise of the film, it's like forgetting luke had a father....total rubbish.

Waste of $15

I didn't find it that bad. I'll admit, taking them out of Springfield about 20 minutes in (a 90 minute movie) does take away alot of the funny. After that, the non-Simpsons characters get limited to just a few minutes of screen time the rest of the movie. Overall, I wasn't disappointed.

Biggs: To be fair, Homer does come out first thing at the beginning and ask the audience why they are paying for something they get for free on TV. And then proceeds to call us suckers. ;)

I enjoyed it. It could have been better, but it was certainly not horrible. The thing that annoyed me the most was that I felt like I had already seen half of this movie because there are so many trailers and TV teasers out there for it. This was a much better movie adaptation than ATHF. :meatwad:

I was entertained throughout, happy that they could take more risks (Bart's penis, Marge's "God Damned Bomb" and other more adult jokes) I laughed throughout and could care less about the "Global Warming theme"

It was funny, period, and worth my matinee bucks.

Cons:
Brook's lame EPA character.
minimal Monty Burns screen time (except for that hillarious scene during the credits about suicide)

Pro's
Gay jokes about Flanders,
Ralph Wiggum Gay joke
Drawing Moe's next to the Church

ah, who am I kidding, too many to name

Go see it, I will buy the DVD

Yeah, gay jokes, nudity and swearing makes an awesome movie, what are you, 12? :whateva:

Like i've said elsewhere, marketing for this movie was top notch. 100/100. Pity the movie was complete rubbish...watch the figures drop by 50% after the first week.

I will never watch a new episode of the show ever again.

It's worthless. I've lost a ton of respect for those writers.

The only bits that got a laugh out of me in the entire movie were:

- Moe: "This is why we should hate kids"
- The Moe's Bar scene when the lights go out and he gets robbed. (And I saw this before the movie)
- Mr. Burns suicide bit in the credits.

I'm so angry with this movie that I can't even bring myself to discuss it critically.

^ Legit.

It's crap. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who saw through the marketing blitz.

The feeling around my peeps here is pretty much everyone hated it, most are passing on seeing it based on the word of mouth and my hardcore simpsons flatmate loved it. But I've questioned his visual and aural integrity before....

The biggest Simpsons fan I know, who's a very bright guy, enjoyed it - but he's basically become an appologist for the show.

Maybe I can't get passed the subpar voice acting and newer animation, but nothing in this movie came close to reaching 'classic-gag' status. He seems to think it was better written than anything in the show for the past 6 years. Those aren't lofty heights in my opinion, though.

Ugh, they wasted Monty Burns and Mr Brooks so poorly, it was NOTHING like the classic Simpsons. The whole thing was a lame Homer Gag-fest.

I watched an episode last night where Al Brooks is voicing Homers Brother, thats the kinda classic Simspsons that is FUNNY.

You mean Herb? That was Danny Devito. 'Brother can you spare two dimes' is one of the best episodes of all time.

I didn't think it was very good. The jokes and writing were pretty substandard. The Nelson global warming gag was possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in The Simpsons. Also, killing Dr. Nick at the end? Stupid. That's a pretty good word to describe the flick.

Yep, Scorpio was Brooks...

He's done some terrific work for the show over the years. Frankly though, I think the Simpsons misses Phil Hartman WAY too much. There's such a dropoff in quality from before Phil and after he died that it's rediculous.

I loved it. I thought it was hilarious. My favorite bit was when Homer got stuck in the sinkhole and started flipping everyone off...then started digging himself out of the hole with his middle fingers.

I don't know what you people are expecting. This isn't high art or something, it's the fucking Simpsons! Do you really need a life lesson to enjoy something? The main draw for the past 10 years is Homer. It changed from the early seasons where Bart was always doing something outrageous to Homer's bumbling. Get over it.

The movie was quick, the funny came every few seconds. How many "comedies" can you claim to have seen lately that can attest to that? Not everything was gut killing lol's, but it was at least entertaining. I turned my brain off and smiled for an hour and a half. I can't ask for more than that. You can have your Adam Sandler recycled shits about queers if you want.
