EXCERPT:

In 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars expands the Star Wars universe with plenty of surprises. This week, Lucasfilm begins offering a glimpse at some of these surprises during the annual Toy Fair events around the world. As it unveiled many of its upcoming toys and collectibles, including those from the Clone Wars TV series, among the familiar characters like Obi-Wan, Anakin and Yoda is a mysterious new Padawan named Ahsoka Tano.

This young Togruta is eager to prove herself as a worthy Padawan to her bold Master, Anakin Skywalker. Able to wield a lightsaber and pilot a spacecraft with great talent, Ahsoka promises to become a worthy Jedi.

I'm not sure I like the idea of Anakin taking on a Padawan. I don't think Obi-Wan would approve.

I don't like that idea either and as far as the animation of this version of the Clone Wars I'm still not really digging it....

Well it's quite an awesome promo image to me and Ms Tano appears to wear the standard teenage girl garb of mini-skirt + boobtube. ( :XD: ) Another awesome thing is this quote:

I'm liking it if only for the fact that it sends EU continuity nerds and GL haters into a tizzy. "Oh noes! Anakin having a Padawan contradicts shitty Clone Wars novel #316! The EU is destroyed!" Bunch of wankers. Good story beats dogmatic adherence to contrived continuity every time.

You all seem to like the look of this new character; I have to ask you all…really? My first reaction (which is open to change as I’m a contrary bastard) is that I hate it. She looks like a cross between the lion from the Wizard of Oz and an elongated Smurf. The Clone Wars TV series has dipped (in my highly developed line graph) to a 3.2/10, in terms of anticipation for the new series that is. I’m hoping this isn’t going to be too kid orientated, I really am. I’m getting old these days (37) and I don’t think I could cope with multi-coloured characters bouncing off the screen like they’re on cocaine infused Spacedust; that’s precisely what I bought a PS3 for.

Clone Wars Ratings:

The look of Padawan Ahsoka Tano: 2.7/10

The smell emanating from this series (i.e. 10 being skunky stink): 6.8/10

Anyone else care (enough) to offer their ratings?

I don't really like it either. What's with the skanky attire anyway?

Amen. They are going to complain there way out of future Star Wars spinoffs. Shouldn't Obi-Wan have another Padawan?

There is way too much thought into how the upcoming television series fit in with the films "canon". The series should be viewed as stand alone features separate from the films which happen to show the characters in other settings.

Regarding the look of the animation, LucasFilm was originally going for anime-style designs but went in favor a combination of different styles, so I think we are ahead with no anime or "Saturday-Morning Cartoon" look here. There was a concerted effort to make the characters not to look entirely realistic so as not to draw away from the upcoming Live-Action Series. Although it appears from the trailer and this photo image that vehicles and objects are somewhat realistic. Ahsoka Tano's graphex lightsaber handle looks pretty  to me at last.

On another somewhat related subject, here are upcoming action figures based from the Cartoon Network Clone Wars of 2003 and 2005 - done in the realistic style:

Honestly, I'm not sure why more jedi don't wear lighter clothes, for a fighter, like Secura or Ahsoka are (Togruta are fighters according to Shaak Ti's profile) it would be best not to be in huge flowing robes, but in something less restrictive.

Y'know...it's not real....

There's no excuse for lack of thought on internal details, even in a fictional story. :whatevaho:

Well just because I like something I don't expect others to do also or vice versa. When you start asking what happened to Yoda's TaunTaun like at :gb2tfn: then you need to step back. The films are done and we are getting new stuff in the form of Star Wars TV now which I think is

If the new Clone Wars expands upon the Cartoon Network Clone Wars then I'll be satisfied. Here are bigger images (courtesy o f JoeRhyno from the RS.com forums) of the Cartoon Network's Clone Wars figures done in realistic style which hopefully is continued with the Clone Wars 2008 line.

note: Padme w/ Wide Child-Bearing Hips :what:

Anyone else looking at that Mon Calamari warrior guy and hoping for an all-new certain six foot salmon who hates traps? Otherwise none of the figures in that assortment really interest me. The Squid Head guy is just kind of funny.

I might go for the Lancer, the predator Jedi or the Quad gunner. So, snow bunny Padme also likes riding bulls.

To his surprise, and against his wishes, Anakin has been assigned an apprentice Jedi, or 'Padawan'; a feisty teenage girl called Ahsoka. Despite his initial doubts she joins him on a sabotage mission behind enemy lines. In the process, the pair discovers that they have more in common than they might have first thought. A new partnership is formed.

I'd like to see a jealous Padme arise from this.

Anakin and his padawan bitch.

I'm trying to figure whether I should get this year or not.

After last years volume of reprinting West End Games stories I think I might have gotten ripped a bit.
