At the recent Hasbro Fall 2007 Analyst Event, it was mentioned The Clone Wars 2008 would be launched theatrically on August 08, 2008 then broadcast on television for Fall 2008, reports someone called Commander Voltaire who had a source at the event.

MF.com's Foxbatkllr reports that Commander Voltaire posted the information on other sites then removed it after pressure by LucasFilm. A theatrical release of The Clone Wars could be successful given the recent performance of CGI films by Pixar's Cars.

During the Hasbro Fall 2007 Analyst Event this morning, they announced the much anticipated Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated TV series would have a theatrical launch next year on August 8 and then on TV throughout the fall. LucasFilm Response:

"I'd like to clarify Hasbro comments this AM about the Clone Wars TV series. We see it as a breakthrough animated television series and are exploring a number of innovative ways to introduce it to the public. No decisions regarding release strategy have been made yet."

"It's one of the many things being discussed but we have no decisions yet. For us it's all about finding a creative way to launch a creative TV series."

I could see Clone Wars 3D happening in digital-3D . A way to kick off the TV show and build hype for the 3D Trilogy.

Will this count against his "I'll never make a movie again" promise?

I think the only "promise" Lucas made is that there would be no Episodes VII, VIII, IX.

Who would have thought another Star Wars movie in the theaters for Summer 2008 :yay:

Title: Mortician
The entire concept of "no more Star Wars movies" seems irrational to me. I know we're talking about the Clone Wars here, and it's possible release in theatres prior to it's TV debut, or something along those lines. But to me, and maybe I'm insane, but I won't stop hoping VII, VIII and IX might happen until Lucas is a corpse. Once the guy is dead, I might believe it will never happen. Until then, my brain won't allow me to buy it. It seems like such a sure bet to triple his money, and fans would get such a kick out of it, not doing them just seems stupid.

Well I think it's safe to say that whatever Lucas & McCallum do involving Star Wars is not set in stone.

Futhermore having a television series like The Clone Wars premiere in theaters isn't new. In fact recently Battlestar Galactica's Razor was premiered in theaters (DIGG Story) before shown on television.

Coming to a theater near you Summer 2008: Indiana Jones IV and The Clone Wars :yay:

There will be, as long as Mark Hamill is still alive and Harrison Ford is still breathing, there's always a chance...

But it'll be interesting to see this Clone Wars thing in a cinema environment I'm not a huge fan of the whole concept, but now I am intrigued at a cinema release for the thing.

It might be worth a few bucks to go and see it not like I haven't thrown money on SW before.

You all know about the Clone Wars animated Series coming out, right? Well it's hitting this September, and will kick off (in the UK at least) with a cinematic release of the first 3 episodes (note this was confirmed by a couple of Star Wars licensees other than Hasbro). The rest of the episodes will then come out on a yet undecided TV channel.

The LEGO Rep let us into a few spoilers including the fact there will indeed be a feature release in early September here in the UK (a couple of weeks earlier in the US)

Rotta is Jabba the Hutt’s nephew or son (there seemed to be some confusion about this) and the first 2 or 3 episodes centre on his kidnapping!

So, 3 episodes @ 20-22 minutes a piece, gives us a feature length presentation of 60-66 minutes.

Hrm, Maybe they should throw in 1 more episode.

y'know what...I'll wait for the series on DVD....

The whole "baby-hutt" thing just put this thing over the edge for me...

April-May 2008 seems to be a bit early for this :what:

I do remember Lucas saying something to that effect, but I have to do wonder if he meant done as in rendered and in the can or "done" as in scripted, story-boarded and awaiting final animation.
