Fucking A. The Comic-Con footage is :heavymetal:.

AT-RTs, Clone Troopers with jet packs, Anakin owning the huge spider droids... Everything I've seen so far has me pumped for another Star Wars movie. Thanks, DS.

Actually, that's another shuttle made for this series. It doesn't have the same top-fin, thus giving GL one more model to sell.

Yeah the shuttle appears just a bit different from the Sidious Shuttle after watching the HD trailer a few times while MF was down.

Once again to thanks again to DS and Altair for the video heads up and HD links. This thread evolved from one about the ComicCon 2008 panel to Clone Trooper decapitation in HI-DEF. :monocle:

Speaking of the ComicCon 2008 panel, I managed to find a mention of the Live-Action Series:

starwarsblog.starwars.com

[hr]
Filoni: I think it’s just keeping Star Wars alive. I think after Revenge of the Sith, I didn’t know what the future of Star Wars was. After watching Revenge of the Sith I didnt know what the future of Star Wars was. I knew I would always like it and watch the movies over and over again, but to be part of something where we’re actually forwarding Star Wars, and you’re going to have episodes like that every week coming out. That’s pretty exciting, and pretty proud of that and the crew that makes of it.

George is talking about the live action series that he wants to do, and that, from what I’ve heard, looks and sounds awesome, so you guys are going to get that in the future.

The overall message is that beyond what people thought in 2005, Star Wars is alive and well. Because of the dedication of the fans you see here at Comic-Con every year, it’s the number one thing every time. It’s really humbling. I appreciate that. I’m glad we can all give something back.

The battledroids seem to be a bit more menacing this time around, as opposed to be obstacles to be brushed aside in AOTC and ROTS.

Still looks like a video game to me. Battlefront 1/2 but with wooden characters. Will still go and see it though. Saying that I'd probably go and watch the fan made Kotor film (using Xbox footage) too if that was slapped on the silverscreen.

I predict a mediocre movie. Wall-e will probably end up binning all the reels come Aug 30th.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but 4 minutes of watching clones fighting droids seemed like 25 minutes. Been there, done that. I don't really see how this is "forwarding Star Wars," as Dave Filoni claims.

I have to admit I wasn't that excited about this flick or series after seeing the two clips at Comic Con, I think this series has great potential.

The other clip that was shown on Friday (which I don't think has been posted yet) is roughly the first act of an episode from the series involving Luminara and Asoka. Some of the Padawan's lines while interrogating Nute Gunray were a little corny but the action and drama made it feel like something out of the new "Battlestar Galactica" series.

I think when Filoni says this is moving "Star Wars" forward, he means it's pushing towards a more sci-fi (as opposed to fantasy or war film) realm. I will say though that this series looks to feature more Dutch angle compositions than "The Third Man" and the 60's Batman series combined. Whether that's a good or bad thing I'll leave for you guys to decide.

The deliberate Thunderbirds - wooden puppet marionation - style is a definately a negative as is the animated-style action figures along with it. In spite of character design, this series is going to be big. This past Saturday was a midnight madness sale, where there were long lines and fights breaking out.

If the Battle Of Christophsis "Extended Action Scene" didn't convert you with it's JetPacks and Decapitations, then nothing will. In the other thread it was mentioned about The Clone Wars TV Spots, of which 99% of the video featured is re-edited from the trailers, webdocs, and the leaked footage.

It's a cartoon for children. I didn't expect anything less.

For the older fans, it'll still have some entertaining action pieces but let's face it; Clone Wars isn't intended for the 20-something cynical adult audience. The live-action show will cater more towards that demographic.

After re-watching it, I think that 99% of the Anakin & Ahsoka commerical is quite enjoyable. It's the 1.0% Ahsoka's Rotta The Hutt accessory that is an issue. I found the extended action scene video to be more awesome with it's jetpacks, decapitations, and wide-camera angles.

On another note, I went to various Wal*Marts and Targets last night and the shelves were stripped bare of the new 2008 Legacy Collection action figures. The animated clone-war style action figgas however were everywhere. People and stopped and gawked at the new Millennium Falcon 2008. :yay:

I hope that bass heavy rendition of Luke's theme towards the end of the TV spot is part of the official score.

First Review - SFX magazine

Quote:
But make no mistake, as soon as you’re plunged into the heart of a Jedi vs battledroids confrontation on a distant world, this is pure, unadulterated Star Wars. The characters may be heavily stylised CG caricatures of the saga’s heroes and villains, but the essence of George Lucas’s creation remains in a movie that bests at least two of the prequels. Indeed, The Clone Wars’ brand of simplistic, action-heavy storytelling is a fantastic breath of fresh air after the complex political machinations that bogged down much of Episodes I and II.

I hate when people talk like Episode 1 and 2 were 2 hours worth of political banter. Yes there was a little bit of that in Episode 1, but come on, all the "political" stuff in Episode 2 was short and necessary. Must be a reviewer with a short attention span.

"Breast lift...", hee, hee.

She's "Rattataki"? Does that mean that the whole race is made of pipe cleaners then?

An article with news of the Clones

Image

Lucas is also famous for giving direction to actors such as “faster and more intense.” Tucker explained that Lucas does the same thing with him but instead will say, “That’s good but speed it up like twenty percent.” The editor said that whenever he follows Lucas’s notes, it always makes it better. However, he has pre-set his [Avid digital editing system] so that every time Lucas wants to speed it up all he needs to do is push a button.

Winder said that initially nobody was sure how involved Lucas would be with the project. “As we started to develop the project and he started to see the material he became more and more excited.” She went on to say that the turning point was when the animated a simple scene of Yoda walking across Palpatine’s office. “George looked at it and he went crazy,” added Winder. “I’ll never forget what he said. We’re not making television here, we’re making cinema.”

Finally, the audience was given a look at a scene from the film that featured Anakin and Obi-Wan stuck on the outer rim with clones fighting the droids. The audience was thrilled as the animation and action looked incredible on the big screen. They also got a look at a scene from the first episode of the upcoming television series. The episode is entitled “Cloak of Darkness” and features a new heroic character named General Lumanara.
