This is THE story I'd want told, above all others in the GFFA.

I never thought an "Obi-Wan in the desert with much regret" movie would be commercially viable. However, a limited event series would be perfect for this particular story. The nature of the story is quieter, more of a character study, and an 8-episode run on a streaming service would be a perfect fit.

I'm curious to see who will be involved on the scripts and the nature of the storylines.

Did Lucas layout Kenobi's full backstory for Disney? If so, will the show flesh-out or flashback to various points in the character's life? Could we get Yoda and youngling Obi-wan arcs as well as live action Clone Wars era stories (with cameos by Hayden Christensen)?

So much potential fun to be had.

The one storyline I would rather see as a standalone film. R1 or Solo could have worked as episodic series but how much action did Obi-Wan have on Tatooine?

...Which would make Rey about 40 years old in the sequel movies.

Oh yeah. Her mother then! We know Obi had at least one girlfriend in the (non-canon?) ObiWan book. Right?

It's official:

The Disney+ panel was the first to announce an all-new Star Wars series in development, one that many fans have been asking to see since the closing scenes of 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, electrified the audience when he emerged following the announcement of his involvement in a new series taking place eight years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, where we last saw Obi-Wan delivering the infant Luke Skywalker to his Tatooine homestead.

I still don't get it. What's so appealing about an old man meditating in a hut, perfecting his krayt dragon call and mentoring a simple farm boy?

Oh, because Ewan McGregor's doing it and dare we ever bore of handsome Scottish men.

It will be hilarious to hear all of the cries of "WTF?" and "plot hole!" when the series shows Kenobi doing something more interesting than that. :)

I'm just joshin'. I have no doubt that the summoned Disney/LFL writing wizards will likely lean heavily on action-packed flashbacks and off-Tatooine awesomery. Let's see it!

I thought I read somewhere that Ewan was offered directorial opportunities in exchange for taking a paltry television salary instead of movie star money.
