Re: the crawl - That's it? No paragraphs? LOL

DP, you just wrapped and delivered a present for me right on my 40th birthday.

You proved me right that the movie will SUCK big time. The Fandom Menace (including this site who is also guilty of prequel bashing over a decade ago) asked for this when they and this site mercilessly bashed George Lucas. After my ONE viewing of TROS, I will gladly walk away from Star Wars FOR GOOD, and I now condemn you, the Star Wars Fandom to obscurity with my final post here because you deserve every bit of this.

As of now, I declare Disney Star Wars dead and the names of all the people involved with this shitfest that you call the sequel trilogy stricken from Star Wars lore and history. I'm going to throw all of the Disney era SW films that I have on disc in a trash bin and set them on fire. I'm going to hug my 2011 disc versions of the Lucas directed films really tight. Glad I didnt pay for Disney+. Instead I took advantage of Verizon/Movie Anywhere's offer for $10 to buy and download the 2019 SE of A New Hope. Why waste $7 a month for a company that you, the Star Wars fandom helped build over a decade.

I repeat, you guys had this coming when you guys decided to bully George Lucas off the internet over the prequels. You guys deserve this.
I now leave you with this final gif:

Image

Appropriate since GOT and SW now has something in common... Both has been botched by so called "SW fans" who thinks they know how to make a SW film. Only George Lucas knows best.

I have spoken.

Happy 40th Birthday Freezus!

Long may you live to act as a witness on behalf of St. George, who, tragically, was totally devoured by the Disney Mouse!

As a very long time member of this site, I honestly cannot recall it being overwhelmingly pitted against George's ham-fisted writing of The Prequel Trilogy. Most of the members had *some* issues with this or that aspect of it, but for the life of me, I don't recall the venom as you do here. Be that as it may, I've been very consistent over my long time here. I deeply appreciated what George was attempting to do. He wanted to create a timeless record of how democratic republics, through controlling the thoughts of the masses, always evolve into empires of absolute tyranny.

That a large chunk of this membership has completely missed the core of his message is evident to see, and it is impossible to fathom how they can keep desperately licking from the Mouse's tiny teats. No nutrition there, I can assure you! Yeah, the leaked images that darthpsychotic has kindly (and once again, miraculously) supplied is something to be very grateful for. Once again, they confirm the heart of many of the spoilers. They confirm that the Disney Mouse has twisted, warped and utterly destroyed the heart of Star Wars: the Skywalkers.

Look at ALL of the recent interviews. Disney and its STAR CAST are falling over themselves condemning The Last Jedi in the most politically correct ways possible (with some major blunders, that the SJW'ers are sure to skewer them alive over). Going so far to say that they have NO INTEREST IN RETURNING TO THEIR ROLES. Will any of the Disney Worshipers here APOLOGIZE to those of us who have been saying this for YEARS? What the hell are they going to do now that the very people they worshiped are finally saying the unspeakable truth?

Apologies?
Hell no!!!

And why not?
Because THIS crowd has NO shame.

Their FEELINGS are all that they need. Evidence be DAMNED to the point that they NEVER presented it to defend their arrogant righteousness.
And now their very masters are echoing what we've said.
Oh, the irony is rich and delicious, and I am thoroughly enjoying it!

I was around here at the time under the name Lord Caldid, and I have seen the venom spewed here and it was really strong. Let my post above serve as the execution of the Star Wars fandom and let us return to the Dark Ages where the name of Star Wars will once again never be uttered.

Thank you for the birthday wishes, though.

Thanks for posting hope you don't mind having your post moved here. This topic's content was dumped on the internet dumping grounds known as 4chan and reddit from a group who seen ten minutes of footage: The opening sequence, mid-film scenes, and ending moments. From this bootleg content it appears we are getting Weekend at Bernie's Palpatine's. Only "Palpatine" really looks awesome here.

If Revenge of the Sith was Return of the Jedi in reverse then The Rise of Skywalker is Revenge of the Sith in reverse. Meaning the hero starts out dark then ascends to the other side. This maybe the issue of the Disney Trilogy. The Dark Side characters connected with the masses while the Resistance characters did not. From what has been revealed so far the only issues I have are minor cosmetic ones: Dark Rey's nunchuck saber and D-0's mere existence. Also maybe Sith Trooper's questionable color and overall design or lack thereof.

I'll take your word for it. You've said this before (fairly recently) and no one really challenged you on it. I can go for very large tracts of time without even lurking the site. Most of the venom must've been spewed when I wasn't around, and it got buried by the time I made my return visits.

That said, Lucas is on record as stating numerous times that the fan response to The Prequel Trilogy deeply hurt him. I *get* that. Who couldn't?
It's too bad.

I see his Prequels as being what I already stated, his efforts to warn the populace as to how tyranny rises. The very leaders who are the biggest champions of the people are the very ones who will happily later murder them in the millions. For their own good, of course!

The Original Trilogy, I see that as his telling a story of family, and its ability to withstand the vicious machinations of even empires.

From what I've been able to gather, his last proposal that he gave to Disney (and that they flushed down the toilet) sounds to me to be about another very big concept: the existence of Light/Dark and Good/Evil - why is it even there? What is its purpose? For myself, I would've loved to have seen that, provided that George would've handed his treatments to his divorced wife to get them into shape.

His sequel trilogy could've been fascinating.
No doubt, it would've been leagues better than what we got.
But we'll never know.

A tragedy, to be sure.

Yep SW went from a space opera that everyone loved to the tragedy of George Lucas. He became consumed by his creation to the point he failed to see what the corporate Hollywood system would do to it despite resisting it. The result shows for it, Kyle. It's like Shakespeare. He wanted to make great plays for the audience and tell his stories but it's the people that does and act in the plays that can butcher his intended version.

Same idea with Disney - they took his saga and added unnecessary chapters and warped it.
Star Wars will be now known as the tragedy of George Lucas in which he never got to finish the saga himself.

It's even interesting that DP had no issues with the opening crawl even though it's only three sentences long.

Well... I’m sure no one really doubted the leaks. If I were Disney, I’d be very nervous... as this could kill off SW films for the next decade (assuming TROS doesn’t prove popular). The trailers certainly make the visuals look good, but man, they really seem to have extinguished everything that Anakin and Luke fought for... and that pretty much kills off the entire narrative of Star Wars.

Yes, it certainly looks that way. Thus my observation about destroying everything that was truly "Skywalker."

Look, I'm not even going to bother listing the steady stream turning into a rapid river of negative statements from actors and even JJ himself. The last two weeks' worth of press releases and recorded interviews has been ridiculous: they can't stop bashing Ruin Johnson enough. Disney, through a multitude of in-the-can "news" articles, are doing everything in their power to RATCHET DOWN expectations of this film, literally going so far as to say that "...it DOESN'T matter..."

Has there EVER been another film franchise to end itself with shocking statements such as these? How about we compare what the Avengers Endgame filmmakers and stars were saying to The Rise of Skywalker? What could we learn there? It is a FAIR comparison. Doing so speaks volumes. Disney knows what it has done, where it is at, and where it is going.

What's the truth of it?

They have only themselves to blame. JJ is going WAY out of his way to look like a saint here, but he isn't. He had PRODUCER credits for The Last Jedi. Had he REALLY thought that Ruin was doing something THAT egregious, he could've easily stomped his foot down, gotten Iger's attention in a major way, and then who knows where things could've gone? But that didn't happen. JJ bears a TON of responsibility for the utter catastrophe that is The Last Jedi.

The Rise of Skywalker will not change a bit of that. Nothing can change the past.

Another lesson from Lucas' Yoda that Kennedy/Abrams/Johnson/Hidalgo could've learned, had they had hearts humble enough to heed his wisdom.
Pride goeth before the fall. And those four hacks were retarded drunk on themselves.

And lo, The Great Pit looms ahead...!

How are those not paragraphs? If you print the opening crawls in the previous 8 movies in the above format, they also look like 3 simple sentences.

I can't believe there are people who are claiming to not remember the extreme negative backlash against the prequels that went on and on forever, and still does in some places. You have got to be fucking kidding. It was crazy and infuriating. Much more so than the reactions to the sequels. We've now gone from "Lucas raped my childhood" to "Disney raped Lucas." Holy shit.

That’s a shame, because The Last Jedi, Rogue One and Solo are made by people who love the Prequels and George Lucas.

And, also, @freezus, while the Star Wars saga won’t have ended the way George Lucas wanted, at least when the final season of The Clone Wars launches on Disney+ in February, it’ll end the way Lucas and Filoni planned. So, I think that’s a bad move to quit Star Wars fandom when there’s stuff in the future you will like such as the final season of The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian and the Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus.

You can declare the Sequel Trilogy not your Star Wars, that’s fine. But, don’t say that about Rogue One, Solo, The Mandalorian, The Clone Wars Season 7 and Obi-Wan Kenobi. And, if you don’t wanna pay for Disney+, you can get a year free of the service on Verizon and then cancel before the free year is over that way you won’t have to renew.

So Rey identifies as a Skywalker, and then gets a yellow light saber. Thus fulfilling the 40+ year old ancient Hasbro prophecy:

some mor spoilerz. the leaks were all true

The username is CallMeBenSwolo on Twitter.

Here's what they've said so far (will be editing as they post more):

- Some more confirmation that, yes, Kylo dies after his redemption. Kylo revives Rey. They smile at each other, she says "Ben" and they kiss. Kylo disappears like Luke when he dies. They do not say "I love you."

- Rey is the granddaughter of Grandpapa Palps. Takes the name Rey Skywalker at the end (whole Tatooine scene is true). Rey having BB8 at the end isn't explained. Finn & Poe are alive, but they are not with her in the final scene.

- Leia and Kylo have no scenes together. Rey stabs Kylo during their fight at the same moment Leia dies. Rey cries and heals him after.

- Han is in the movie. Anakin's voice IS in the movie. Hayden voiced Anakin.

- "You can't hide, Rey. Not from me." -line from Kylo.

- "Kylo holds her sweetly when he brings her back to life," and says the force bond is stronger than ever.

- Jannah isn't confirmed to be Lando's daughter. Poe lives. Knights of Ren are hardly in the movie (I'm assuming they only appear in the helmet repair scene and when Rey & Kylo fight them). Doesn't remember KoR having any dialogue.

- " No they don't really fight [Palpatine]. Yes he shoots lightning into the sky"

- Nobody ends up with anyone in a romantic sense at the end of the movie.

- Movie doesn't explain how Palpatine is back. Palpatine created Snoke and there are a couple tanks with Snoke clones in them. Nothing else is explained.

- Kylo's reaction to seeing Rey dead: "Panicked and hurt. It was well acted but still so awkward because of pacing.

- After the redemption, Ben doesn't have any lines. Apparently his character overally doesn't have as many lines in this movie. (Lots of people talking about this part: I doubt he has way less dialogue because he's one of the main characters and has a ton of scenes with Rey.)

- About Reylo moments: " There were honestly moments that could have been so hot if they'd been handled better. They way they talked to each other was kinda 'wink wink' and the force bond was really strong so that was cool"

- Only the force ghosts of Luke & Leia are at the end.

- Leia's last word is "Ben"

- "First [Palpatine] wants Rey to kill him, then when she doesn't, Rey just reflects his lightning back at him until he dies. They don't fight Palps. Ben gets yeeted into the Pit"

- Answering what Palpatine does in the movie (kinda vague): "He does nothing but talk shit to Kylo who doesnt listen to him anyway. But Ian's performance was still great."

- "Luke's ghost appeared to catch Rey's saber when she tried to throw it away."

- Hux is RIP. He was revealed as a spy because he basically wanted to tear Kylo down. He helps Finn & Poe escape. Gets killed by Pryde.

- Rey fought Dark Rey, which was a vision, for a little bit then the vision disappeared. This sequence is on the wreckage of the Death Star.

- "The opening scene is actually the Kylo on the red planet scene and it has little added context! He is there to get a way finder to Sith Land, and immediately arrives there and it goes right into the scenes from the Kylo tv spot. That's literally the opening of the movie."

- Rose and Rey didn't speak to each other.

- About the LGBT moment in the movie: " That woman that is close to Leia and Holdo? She kisses a woman in the background at the end." (It's Commander D'Acy)

- Ben says to Rey: "You wanted to take my hand." And Rey responds to the comment later in another scene by saying, "I did want to take your hand. Ben's hand."

- Says it's implied that Finn is going to confess his feelings for Rey (their interpretation), but it doesn't happen. Rey confides in Finn and prefers him over Poe because she doesn't get along with him.

- Han appears to Kylo and they have a very similar conversation as the TFA bridge moment (even some exact dialogue). Ben says "You're just a memory." Han says "Your memory," touches his face. And Ben turns and tosses away his red saber. "Leia used her last strength to reach out to Ben and call his name. He felt it and saw Han afterward. These two interactions cause his turn."

- Why Finn screams "Rey!" in the trailers: " He was just worried about Rey fighting Kylo. He actually falls because Rey force pushes him back, presumably to keep him away from the fight."

- "Ben destroys Reys wayfinder and it pisses her off. He doesn't fight her back too much. Whenever she stops swinging, he stops." There's a moment when they fight where Kylo knocks Rey down and the reason she's able to get the upper hand and stab him is because Leia calls to him through the force and dies. Kylo destroys the wayfinder because "He wants her to use his with him. He says "The only way you are getting there is with me" and crushes hers"

- List of deaths they remember: Boolio, Hux, Pryde, Leia, Ben, Snap Wexley, Rey (temporarily), Palpatine

- "Ben comes to save her from becoming Empress Palpatine (I'm serious) and revives her when killing Palps kills her. Ben never wanted her dead. She instantly regrets stabbing him."

- Palpatine is waiting for Rey to come kill him so all the Sith can inhabit her body. Then he gets rejuvenated by Ben and Rey's combined energies/powers/something like that, and decides to kill them

- There is a flashback scene of Luke training Leia in the Force and lightsaber combat. She even had a saber which Force Ghost Luke gives to Rey. Leia has been training Rey in the Force. Rey can straight up float while also levitating tons of rocks around her.

- KoR gang up on Kylo and are beating him when Rey initiates a force bond and gives him a lightsaber through the bond.

- Lando flies the falcon and bring a bunch of ships to the big fight at the end.

- Kylo and Chewie also have no scenes together.

- "Rey stole Ben's ship on the death star and takes it to Ach-to to hide out there forever like Luke, so she destroys it so she cant leave." "Then she goes to throw her saber into the flames but ghost Luke catches it and then gives her Leia's saber and then lifts the x-wing out of the water. That's how Rey gets off Ach-to"

- During the Pasaana scene after Rey destroys Kylo's first ship: "Ben walks up to Rey to push her into using the dark side to prove she's a Palpatine."

- Palpatine tells Kylo to kill Rey and Kylo basically refuses (he doesn't outright say it though). Kylo is done taking orders.

- In the scene where the voices of the Jedi come to aid Rey, they tell her to rise and that she has all of the power of the Jedi. Anakin's voice is there, so is Ahsoka's. A lot of the dialogue overlaps. Yoda's voice is there. Confirmed Obi-Wan's voice is too. Thinks Mace Windu's voice is in it.

- Force dyad is in the movie. Ben & Rey have a very deep connection.

- How Rey's resurrection and Rey/Kylo kiss happens: "Ben climbs out of the pit, sees fallen Rey from a distance and rushes over as best he can, limping. He gets to her and pulls her into his lap and holds her to his chest, heartbroken. Then he calms himself, leans her back, lays hands, and revives her. When she comes back, she holds his hand, looks into his eyes, smiles huge, calls him Ben, and they have a solid full contact kiss for about 2 seconds? He smiles back. Then he abruptly falls over dead, she touches him, and he vanishes." So he died happy.

- C3PO gets his memory back. He can understand Sith script but is forbidden from translating it so they hack his memory, thus wiping it, and he tells them where to find the wayfinder. Forgets everyone/everything but is restored by R2.

- There is a moment where Chewie mourns Leia :(

- Implied Finn is force-sensitive.

- Carrie & Billie share a scene together where they talk about Resistance-related stuff.

More updates because they tweeted a LOT more after I went to sleep....:

- Planet that gets hit by the red beam in the trailers is Kimiji (no clue how to spell it lmao)

- Kylo rips off Rey's beaded necklace during a force bond and that's how he locates her on Pasaana

- Scene where Kylo looks at Vader's mask from the D23 footage: "He touches the mask and focuses, and thru that fucks with Rey's training. She gets clumsier and then gets mad and that's why she's so pissed when she cuts the tree. She can feel him messing with her."

- Rey's parents DID sell her off on Jakku because they believed it would protect her. Papa Palps tracked them down and killed them.

- Getting the trio to the Death Star: Rey goes with Finn and Poe to the planet. They meet Jannah who says to wait until the water is calmer, but Rey sneaks off by herself. Kylo gets there on another tie fighter.

- When Rey stabs Kylo: "He doesnt say anything. Rey then silently cries and heals him which I think ended up healing his scar because it's gone later. That's when she says about wanting to take Ben's hand and runs off and steals his ship leaving him on the DS"

- When Rey jumps out of the hangar: Kylo told her about the dyad, and that Palpatine didn't know. He offered his hand again and said you know what you have to do. She says, "I do." And jumps

- When Kylo tells Rey her parentage: Rey says "You're lying" and Kylo replies "I've never lied to you." She believes him.

- Rey's parents are seen in the movie (flashback) and have dialogue.

- Kylo & Leia "pass on" together, they disappear (like Luke) at the same time. I guess Leia's spirit was waiting for Ben.

- Palpatine refers to Kylo as a Skywalker when he yeets him down the pit. (Rise of Skywalker = coming out of the pit?)

- First Order meeting scene: "Ben walks in the room wearing his mask, talks a bit, then he sense Hux is uncomfortable about the mask and calls him out for it. Hux denies it a bit comically. Someone else says "I like it""

- Rey studies the Jedi texts in order to figure out what to do about Palpatine.

- " Hux telling Finn to shoot him in the arm to convince Pryde and Kylo that he'd been ambushed, only for Finn to shoot him in the leg" and later Pryde shoots him in the chest, killing him.

- Kylo: "I killed Snoke. I'll kill you, too." Palpatine: "I created Snoke."

- Rey and Poe arguing: "Poe was mad that BB8 was banged up and Rey was mad the Falcon was banged up. And Rey had this funny sarcastic smile and said "You know what you are? You're difficult. You're a difficult man.""

- Some more Kylo/Rey dialogue through the force bond. Kylo: "Wherever you are, you're hard to find." Rey: "You're hard to get rid of"

- Luke & Leia training scene: "It was a flashback. Luke was wearing a mask and Leia was mostly a silhouette. They were fighting with lightsabers and I think Leia knocked Luke on his ass, then it showed his young cgi face and then her young cgi face. They have no lines because there is a Luke voiceover"

- Vader's mask wasn't destroyed, just the podium it was on. Kylo realizes Rey is in his room when the mask falls on the floor. Their bond is stronger and they are able to pass items through it at will.

- Palpatine is kind of undead in the movie, so he's not really "alive," more like a husk.

Upon re-reading Bear's spoiler post CALLMEBENSWOLO has a A LOT of information not posted anywhere else including actual dialog.

Below is my edit of @callmebenswolo twitter reports reassembled by character and scenes. Palpatine's return not really being explained combined with Kylo Ren's lack of dialog maybe the reason so many of the Industry-Backed Bloggers (Press-Pass Patreon Pack?) is giving the film mixed reviews.

PALPATINE

- Palpatine is kind of undead in the movie, so he's not really "alive," more like a husk.
- Movie doesn't explain how Palpatine is back. Palpatine created Snoke and there are a couple tanks with Snoke clones in them. Nothing else is explained.

- Answering what Palpatine does in the movie (kinda vague): "He does nothing but talk shit to Kylo who doesnt listen to him anyway. Ian's performance was still great."
- "No they don't really fight [Palpatine]. Yes he shoots lightning into the sky"
- "First [Palpatine] wants Rey to kill him, then when she doesn't, Rey just reflects his lightning back at him until he dies. They don't fight Palps. Ben gets yeeted into the Pit"

- Palpatine refers to Kylo as a Skywalker when he yeets him down the pit. (Rise of Skywalker = coming out of the pit?)
- Palpatine is waiting for Rey to come kill him so all the Sith can inhabit her body. Then he gets rejuvenated by Ben and Rey's combined energies/powers/something like that, and decides to kill them

- Kylo: "I killed Snoke. I'll kill you, too."
- Palpatine: "I created Snoke."

LUKE & LEIA

- Luke & Leia training scene: "It was a flashback. Luke was wearing a mask and Leia was mostly a silhouette. They were fighting with lightsabers and I think Leia knocked Luke on his ass, then it showed his young cgi face and then her young cgi face. They have no lines because there is a Luke voiceover"

- Leia and Kylo have no scenes together. Rey stabs Kylo during their fight at the same moment Leia dies. Rey cries and heals him after.
- Kylo & Leia "pass on" together, they disappear (like Luke) at the same time. I guess Leia's spirit was waiting for Ben.
- Leia's last word is "Ben"

FORCE SPIRITS

- Han is in the movie.
- Anakin's voice IS in the movie. Hayden voiced Anakin.

- After the redemption, Ben doesn't have any lines. Apparently his character overally doesn't have as many lines in this movie. (Lots of people talking about this part: I doubt he has way less dialogue because he's one of the main characters and has a ton of scenes with Rey.)

- "Luke's ghost appeared to catch Rey's saber when she tried to throw it away."
- Only the force ghosts of Luke & Leia are at the end.

LGBQT

- Nobody ends up with anyone in a romantic sense at the end of the movie.
- About Reylo moments: " There were honestly moments that could have been so hot if they'd been handled better. They way they talked to each other was kinda 'wink wink' and the force bond was really strong so that was cool"
- About the LGBT moment in the movie: " That woman that is close to Leia and Holdo? She kisses a woman in the background at the end." (It's Commander D'Acy)

SUPPORTING CAST

- Knights of Ren are hardly in the movie (I'm assuming they only appear in the helmet repair scene and when Rey & Kylo fight them). Doesn't remember KoR having any dialogue.
- Jannah isn't confirmed to be Lando's daughter.
- Implied Finn is force-sensitive.

DEATHS

- List of deaths:

- Boolio
- Hux
- Pryde
- Leia
- Ben
- Snap Wexley
- Palpatine

I'm just back from seeing the movie here in Belgium. Supershort review: it redeems some things I didn't like in Episode 8 and some of it's revelations are ... weird. Liked the first half a lot more than the last.

Pfft this shit is hilarious, I’ve already filed away this trilogy as some EU alternate timeline shit.
None of it makes any sense.

lmao i’m sure the plot line will magically change in 48 hours and not just be a retcon of father/son story of 1-6 and a nostalgia pandering mess that can only be explained as “a story for another time” because there was no reason for sheev to hide for 30 years if he could survive a trip into the exploding reactor of a moon sized space station for mary sue to kill

Maybe in the next trilogy he can reappear mysteriously too for the next flawless hero with no character to destroy

I'm not talking about the plot magically changing, I'm talking about judging a movie you haven't seen by a 20 second shitty (and highly illegal) cell phone video.
I cannot and will not judge this film until I have actually watched it, start to finish, on the big screen tomorrow night.

Er...

I mean...

I love YOU bearvomit! :bounce:

Thank you for reposting!

Wow.

I've watched/read half a dozen reviews that specifically mentioned just how awful the special effects were for Sidious' death.

I *realize* that the preceding video's quality is very low, but my oh my, anyone can tell just by watching it that the effects for that sequence are pretty atrocious.

And to no one's surprise, the GODDESS Rey makes Mace Windu look like an absolute CHUMP. There she is, taking on ALL of the Sith at once, and she's channeling ALL of the Jedi at once, and one would THINK that there'd be a BALANCE of power there, so that there should've been more of a DRAMATIC STRUGGLE, but with three flexes she vaporizes him more than he ever was on the Death Star II, and she doesn't even break a sweat while doing it. It's about time we see Rey do something without breaking a sweat...oh, wait... :(

His arrogance has blinded him.
You could argue Rey had very little to do with it and was "...all the Jedi" that overcame Sidious

We saw footage of Warrick getting into his old - as in grey - Wicket costume.

How old do Ewoks live?
If they are like mammals on earth, larger ones live longer and small ones die young. Ewoks might live as long as dogs ... so this would be his great great grand-ewok?
