[MF] Teaser Trailer Previewed!

Postby CoGro » October 25th 2004 11:09 pm

Today marked one of the happiest days of my life.

My birthday was last thursday and my uncle was invited to a special presentation to occur today in Toronto. He usually takes me to these things as they are usually sneak previews to movies, so I thought I was going to see a sneak of Alexander or the Incredibles.

Instead it was a presentation which showed off a new DLP system that famous players theatres here in Canada will be using. They played some footage from the Trilogy DVD to show off the sound and picture quality. After 40 minutes, the screen went black and I thought the show was over, then:

20th Century Fox

Lucasfilm Ltd. Production

The Force is what gives a jedi his power, it's an energy field created by all living things, it surrounds us and penetrates us...it binds the galaxy together.

For over a thousand Generations the Jedi knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy...before the dark times...before the empire.

A young Jedi named Darth Vader., helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi knights.

Vader was seduced by the Dark side of the force.

Mustafar

"Lord Vader..."

"Yes, master..."

"Riiise"

Kashyyyk
Coruscant
Space battle
Federation Ship
Utapau
Lightsaber fight
Speeder zooming
Troopers

...other stuff...

THE SAGA IS COMPLETE

Wow. I couldn't breath for the entire time.

I have no idea, they did a thorough frisking of every person on the way in the theatre...and keep in mind I dont even think anyone knew what they were about to see.

I thought I was going to see incredibles after that, but that was it, though they did show a small making of incredibles, but stuff I've seen on the net.

Looks GREAT on DLP though. but right now, who cares.

I saw the fucken trailer.

EDIT: I'm crashing.

Other then "Vader....Rise!" are there any other shots of Vader and the Emperor? Perhaps any of Vader with a light saber?

I got a more detailed description from an advertising exec in New York whom my uncle works with in TO.

From what I heard, the Obi-wan speech is just clips from ANH.

"The Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic, before the dark times...before the Empire"

"A Young jedi named Darth Vader helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the jedi knights.....Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force"

I was told there's space battle footage, action in the falling ship, kashyyyk footage, Naboo queen, Opera footage...but as posted, most of the shots are a second.

That's all I got.

Seems to me that quite a few people have already seen the teaser trailer by now. It would be great if some of those lucky people had with them a digital cam and where so kind as to post the trailer online... Please???
Not that it won't come out next week and it will be all over the net, but the sooner the better.

to answer some of the questions here at once...

Some images I remember CLEARLY are space battle shots and the crashing starship. I remember the Yoda character shot very well...looks a bit more like ESB yoda. compare it to the closeup shot of Yoda in ESB where he says "take you too him I will"

The wookie shot looked awesome, stood out in my mind like the clones marching up the ramp from AOTC.

It's all pretty fast, you see anakin a few times, Bail, Palpatine.

You do not see vader with a lightsaber, but I'm sure you see Anakin with one, the images flew by though and I couldn't really absorb anything except the landmarks.

the imperial march was there, I wanna say Sidious's theme was too but i'm not ENTIRELY sure....the first time I saw TPM trailer, i couldn't remember the tracks used either, but I would the next time around. The force theme is used...that's all I can recall on that front.

anything else?

The Vader "Yes master" line, is it coming from Hayden(normal or altered?) or JEJ? Thanks for the info!

To answer the post above, the best way to desribe it is a bunch of wookies preparing for battle on a platform, think about the shot of the gungans in the first episode 1 trailer behind their backs waitinf for the battle droids to approach and you'll get the idea a little better. It looked really, really cool.

the Vader line is JEJ. there were rumours floating around that the voice would be an amalgamation of Hayden and JEJ...not true. It's all JEJ.

It's a very return of the jedi sounding voice.

So can we assume JEJ has done some dialogue recording?

Or is it maybe an edit of some OT sound clips?

mecha superior wrote:-Please describe "The duel" shots.

-On one viewing, how do you rate this trailer to the other prequel ones?

And....

So the only dialogue in the piece (other than Guinness voiceover) is the Emperor and Vader?

The duel shots are brief, it's like seeing what you saw in the Return of Darth Vader doc with the effects added. Intense. But the highlight was definately seeing vader for the audience...there was a collective gasp. at the end there was a huge huge huge applause and people were talking about it as everyone left, mostly about vader.

In one viewing, i'd say the trailer is awesome. The first TPM trailer though really got me excited. But that's because it made the movie look and feel like an OT movie through and through....the nostalgia of that trailer was just unbelieveable for me.

I think the breathing AOTC trailer did exactly that in the best way possible - tease. Got me hyped huge....

the ROTS teaser I think gives naysayers a big hope and those who like the prequels a huge rush.

Overall, i'd rank it second to TPM teaser in terms of it's style as a trailer - i really liked the obi-wan voiceover...similar to the 'every generation...' titles from that teaser.

The shots go by really quick, I don't remember dialogue. There could've been a few short lines that overlapped shots, but I was more focussed on the aciton.

Do you imagine this will be the only trailer this season?

I mean, did it come across as substantial enough to hold us off until March?

You never know.

Each of the 2 main trailers for each prequel contain a story element.
EP1: finding Anakin
EP1: Plot of Naboo invasion
Forbidden Love: Anakin's arc
Mystery/Clone War: plot of the film

It got across a story point - rise of vader.

But the trailer isn't as deep as either forbidden love/mystery.

We may have gotten spoiled with Episode 2 but it wouldn't surprise me to get another trailer between this one and the one in March.

I feel giddy....

....also, where I work we'll be getting a sneak preview of a couple of new films etc fairly shortly (within say, 4 or 5 days) so I'm hoping (as per usual) they'll roll out the new trailers they have before these movie previews, I'll let you know if I see the trailer or not and be sure to take some devices for "digital" recording...

Of course, I'm in New Zealand, so they may not have it yet...

I watched TPM this morning, keeping all the new spoilers in mind, and the movie is much more intriguing. I still can't get past about half of Jake LLoyd's performance, or Ric Olie (he's really bad), but I still loved the movie even more now.

I did that after I saw the ROTS trailer....

then i watched the AOTC trailers...

I'm not a huge fan of the Forbidden love trailer. The opening scene is so awkward...it just gave me a vision of bad dialogue to come.

Yeah, after you see AOTC, you realise what an awesome job Hayden did to blend Anakin and Vader.
That glare that Anakin gives Yoda and Mace when he's initially refused is great, has a lot of impact when you know what happens later.

What's wrong with Ric Olie? :P

AOTC is horribly underated by everybody. Yes it had its awkward moments but the last reel of the movie is pure unadulterated SW bliss. I don't see how anyone could complain about the final 25 minutes of the film personally. Revenge of the Sith sounds like it will put AOTC to bed in terms of kinetic action sequences. Can't fucking wait to see the space battle over Coruscant!

And yes Hayden did a superb job of blending the two distinct personalities of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader. The unbridled rage that he displays during the Tusken slaughter confession is gripping. I also loved his portrayal of Anakin during the end duel with Dooku.

"Brave of you boy-- but I would have thought you'd have learned your lesson..."

"I am a slow learner!"

The attitude was perfect.

I hated that part. The delivery is awful. It should have sounded like Luke's "You'll find I'm full of surprises." Instead it sounds emotionless like he's sitting in a chair.

Thanks CoGro!
I asked you this because there are rumors floating around that Hayden gets the vader name before the suit. So I was tying to figure out if this dialogue would be from when Hayden is given the "Vader" name or if its dialogue from Vader is "awakened"... I guess is the later then... :heavymetal2:

TFN is reporting JEJ did not record the voice of Darth and people there are muttering different theories on who the voice is being done by: Hayden, recycled etc...

The line in th trailer sounds like a newly recorded line by JEJ.

No need to worry if anyone here was thinking otherwise.
