I was in denial over this moment...

I guess I better learn to accept Padme's death just like I will have to accept a General Grievous.

Edit appreciated, I wasn't sure of the source and didn't wish to credit the wrong person. Awesome image though, many thanks to Spoileriffic for this one and everythign else that's hit today.

Something I've noticed that hasn't been mentioned yet, the image of yoda is the same one that was used on the ROTS promo cards a while back.

New planet IIRC.

What does the droid have in his hands, anyway? I can't parse it.

It appears to be a three-armed droid with an attached tray to hold medical tools/medicine.

The aliens look like blue skinned Gungans.

Anyway. Good pic. Does not look fake at all.

Polis Massa is not a planet, but rather an asteroid belt.

I can't help agreeing with that. The aliens in that shot look like they came out of an Oddworld game, or some animation student's showreel, and nothing about the environment looks solid. Like everything else in Ep3, I'm expecting it to work much better in motion (or hoping at least).

Nice to see those robots from Batteries Not Included are still getting work.

Can anyone else get this image to load? It only loads about 1/4 of the picture when I try to access it, looks like the image is corrupt?... yes, I've cleared my cache & have tried from another computer... if anyone else got it, how about putting it up & posting a link for us... thanks! :heavymetal:

Would anyone else have preffered the Padme' death scene with a 2-1B droid instead of a prequel-lite CGI droid?

It might sound like a minor nitpick, but I think it would suit the scene better with something other than toonie CGI robots and aliens.

While in the end it's not gonna bother me too much, I do agree. When I saw that picture, the first thing that I thought was that it looked like a cartoon frame that Obi-Wan's head had been superimposed over. Padme's too far away to look real or fake, and the rest is CGI.

Yeah, I would've liked to see a 2-1B... not necessarily for the connection to the 2-1B in ESB, but just to get a more "Gonk Droid" type feeling to ROTS.

Ah well. It's not like I'm not gonna see or love the movie because of it.

It doesn't make any difference what I think, but I think would have been a nice touch/connection having the 2-1B that deliveres Luke, as the same one seen in ESB that helps Luke on Hoth and replacing his hand at the end. (I'd like to assume they are the same.)

the Aliens are the only thing I've seen/heard so far that concern me. Hope the drama of these scenes aren't let down by some bad design/CGI. I thought the Kaminoans were less than convincing (look great but they didn't work for me). Hope they look better in motion. Is there really any need to have CG characters here that could ruin sn sudiences belief in a scene? Overkill.

*heh* I had the same thought. They do look a little cartoony in design. But the PT universe is the home of Gungans, Kaminoans, Geonosians, Dexter Jettster, Yarael Poof and the pod racers. Fanciful aliens have never daunted Lucas and his design teams.

As cool as this pic is, it shows everything that is wrong with cgi. Too Cartoony, too shiny just too fake....

for example the med droit in ESB is a 100% more effective even tho it was just a simple animatronic. And i think just a bunch of real people in white outfits wouldve been more effective around padme death bed then green aliens...

As much as i love SW, i still wish Lucas wouldve approached the prequels with more of an 'epic' feel ala lotr (please dont kill me. Just MY opinion).

I found TPM unwatchable, and AOTC feels like a cartoon/cgi tv show episode...i hope E3 will be much better then the last 2.

to those that think it looks too cartoony, it's not a finnished shot as there is no reflection from obi-wan on to the droid

i'm assuming it's an early composite of the shot for editting purposes

I agree with everyone who says that it looks like a big cartoon. It looks terrible.

Forget the aliens and the cartoony droid... but look at how Obi-Wan is just pasted over the image.

There has been plenty of great FX in the prequels, and plenty of terrible FX... this falls on the terrible side.

Funny thing about these boards.

Like many, I said that shot of a downed Yoda looked great... AND NOBODY SAID, "WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE MOVIE... IT MIGHT LOOK BAD." :?

But now I give my honest opinion about this terrible looking pic, and suddenly everyone screams "it's not finished, wait until you see it moving, yada yada yada."

It looks bad, end of story.

Some people might like a cartoony look, I don't. Especially in what is suppose to be a very somber scene.

I'm sure in the ROTS SE Lucas will change all the people and have the aliens shoot first.

Whenever they do rubber masks anymore, they always seem to add the latest and greatest gadget gizmos to make the lips purse and the eyebrows raise..

It seems like, in most of the scenes where they opt to do CGI aliens, it would be just as easy to do a rubber mask sans the gadgetry.

It's like toys for the sake of toys.

Whatever, though. I enjoy it whatever way they do it.. maybe just for different reasons. :)
