Postby Fields » December 31st 2004 2:16 am

New one's up!!! Thanks HC and T! :heavymetal:

December 31 2004

"You're feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side." - Emperor Palpatine, Return of the Jedi.

With Obi-Wan hidden aboard Senator Amidala's Naboo Skiff, and on his way to the secret location of his former student, Anakin SKywalker, Yoda makes his way to the Galactic Senate - now the Imperial Senate where the Emperor resides.

Yoda walks down a long hallway that leads to the entrance of a room called the "Holding Office of the Supreme Chancellor." Two Imperial Guards block the room. As Yoda approaches lightning shoots from the hands of the Emperor. Yoda makes a subtle gesture and deflects the lightning; shocking the Imperial Guards into unconciousness.

Yoda removes his lightsaber and the Great Battle begins. With speed and veracity it moves closer to the huge Chancellor's Pod that occupies the middle of the room until the Jedi and the Sith are upon its great foundations. Suddenly, the pod begins to rise as the two combatants battle it out...

Meanwhile, on the volcanic planet of Mustafar, the Naboo Skiff lands.

This is so cool! I don't understand some of the timing, though. I guess the part about he pod takes place just before Padmé runs out to Anakin on Musatafar.

Okay, Tern. "Anakin betrays Sidious.."??? Are you going to make us beg? It's New Year's Eve!!!

It is gonna be awesome when Yoda and Sidious are battling it out on the pod AS IT RISES. Throw in some John Williams magic and we will be experiencing something truly epic.

With all the explosive and emotional events in this movie, John Williams is going to have to be in top form to really get the film to shine. Many of these scenes rely on it....lets hope he cooks up some great themes.

So we'll see two more scenes of the formation of the civil war and rebel alliance inbetween Obi-Wan/Luke and Vader/Sidious. Interesting.

The Duel must be pretty long for Yoda to escape from Sidious and meet Obi-Wan on Polis Massa.

EDIT: Oops...doesn't make much sense without T's post. :o

So.... this room is situated right below the senate chambers, and this "pod" is the pod we've seen in the previous two films where the Chancellor stands/sits with his two aides as he presides over the senate?

The fight goes into the senate chambers??? Jesus!

Yeah, the chambers appear to be REALLY deep. Like miles, right? Think TPM.

Yeah. The office is where the Chancellor would have met delegates privately before rising hundreds of feet into the main chamber.

So after Padme & Obi-Wan land on Mustafar, we'll need to see the conclusion of the Yoda/Sidious battle and Yoda's rescue by Bail, by the time everyone meets up post-Duel on Polis Massa.

I think it might be cross-cut. The Duel might be considered too long at 10-12 minutes to go start to finish. Cutting to what's going on with Yoda and Bail would help show the passage of time and allow for location changes for Obi-Wan and Anakin.

The order should be something like this:

Obi/Yoda in Temple.

Yoda Vs. Sidious in Holding

Obi Visits Padme

Yoda Vs. Sidious in Senate

Padme's Arrival on Mustafar

I'm with you there. As far as I'm concerned, The Duel is not only the centerpiece of ROTS, but the Prequels as a whole. This is THE moment.

Yoda vs Sidious will be cool, but Obi-Wan vs Anakin should have no equal.

The Yoda/Sidious duel finishes by the time the main duel starts.

See the listing above for the correct layout.

I combined some scenes yesterday so I could present something tomorrow. ;)

Is the Senate in session? Why is Sidious in that room when Yoda finds him? Is Sidious perhaps leaving the Senate?

Does this mean that Yoda Vs. Sidious in Senate is completely done when Padme's ship touches down on Mustafar?

Where does Yoda's rescue by Bail fit in? After Padme's arrival but before Obi-Wan and Anakin go at it? Or is it cross-cut in the middle of The Duel?

'And confront him you will'
I guess this is what Yoda says to Obiwan, about going to stop Anakin.
It is their duty as Jedi to stop the Sith.
Bail Organa helps out Yoda? I guess Palpatine does not realize/know that it is Bail helping Yoda out. That is an interesting titbit!

Yoda & Sidious fighting on a floating pod in the Senate chamber...that is very cool! Not to mention the way Yoda takes out the red guards.

Hmm, I guess this means the pic of Yoda on his knees isn't near the end of the fight, by a longshot. But how does Yoda get out of the Senate chamber after he's beaten? And Bail is there with him somehow?

I was under the impression from things said when this movie was starting to get filmed, that we'd see more "action" from these Imperial Guards. Didn't we hear something like "You'll see why these guys were chosen as Palpatine's personal guards" or something to that effect?

meh.... oh well. Can't have everything I guess. Maybe they do some asskicking of the Mace "party"

Tern, do you know if this is done in a way that Palpatine doesn't know that it's Bail? Otherwise, why would he allow Bail to survive until ANH?

Unless that Palps is the type of evil bastard that likes to keep his friends close and his enemies even closer.

In Episode I and II, we saw Palpatine execute his versions on the Reichstag fire to gain power - in RotS, we may see the Senate actually on fire. I can't imagine that Yoda vs. Palps will leave the main chamber in mint condition - if you know what I mean.

More like Sidous throws Yoda for a loop, and Bail catches him in his nifty speeder?

Someone else asked this, but I was also wondering where that "Yoda on his knees" pic fit into that described scene...I'm thinking Yoda is thrown against the wall by Sidious and is struggling to get up, since Yoda deflects the lightning it wouldn't be from that... is this pic before Yoda uses his lightsaber, or was it knocked out of his hands during the battle?

enough of the pyramid quoting please

Hello... do you think that might be the reason why Alderann is the first planet destroyed by the Death Star??

I think the reason given in ANH is sufficient. Besides, Tarkin makes that decision all by himself. He never consults the Emperor about it.

If people are in the Senate Chamber when Yoda and Sidious rise up fighting, I bet Yoda (and Jedi in general) would look pretty bad. I'm sure Palps could convince everyone that the Jedi "attacked" him or something. It would probably be to Palpatine's advantage.

I wonder if it will be all force-lightening or force-throwing or if there is some new something that they do. I can't remember if we've heard that there is/isn't new "force powers" beyond the choke in ROTS.
