There are some goodies in there if you look closely, that's for sure! I think R2D2 could spill the beans anytime if he were given the right code...

I think I might end up buying this.

-"The Kaminoans asked Tyranus why they were not being given a Jedi template for the army. Tyranus told them that he had an able-bodied warrior in mind for the job."

-"As a result of having artificial arms, Dath Vader will never be able to conjure Sith lightning-nor be invulnerable to it."

The blurred out text on the Vader ones just said something to the effect of Padme Amidala and her dying.

We are missing four WITH TEXT visual dictionary scans from Probe Droid - R2D2 + C3PO, ShockTrooper, Tion Medon, Tri-Fighter.

Department of HomeWorld Security

Postby MassiveSithFetish » March 14th 2005 2:18 pm

Obligatory intro: Hi. I'm extremely new, obviously. I don't even have a snarky avatar yet, although I deeply admire the one I've seen on here of Palpidious brandishing an acoustic guitar. My father was weird enough to take me to see ANH in the theater when it opened; I was four at the time. (Yeah, yeah. I'm old. When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good you will not.) I have remained deeply obsessed ever since, and still miss the late, great Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade.

Anyway, this post had a point, which is... either in this thread, or the other one with the smaller scans, I couldn't help but notice (years of typesetting in Quark XPress are great training for being able to read teensy lettering on a monitor) that the Shocktroopers who accompany Palp's declaration of himself as Emperor come from a newly created department of "HomeWorld Security."

Yoda: Reveal your politics, you do, Obi-George.
Lucas: I don't know what you're talking about.
Yoda: See through you, I can. Still pissed, you are, that Ronald Reagan stole your movie title for his missile defense system. Hmm?
Lucas: Yeah, well, unlike his fancy space shield, at least my movie damn well worked as designed!

I can't seem to access it anymore, but on the page with the Grievous scan there looked to me like a shot in Palpatine's office?

Did anyone manage to make this out - and if it was connected to Grievous?

It was on the bottom right of the scan - with what looked like a figure I couldn't make out in the foreground, and the familiar red office decor in the back.

Hey, all, Probe Droid here from the RPF. Sorry ImageShack clammed up on me. Pain in the arse. I have a few more of these still to mount. Wookie Weapons, anyone? And Yoda in pants.

The blurred text in the Vader pix involves Padme's fate. This site seems welcoming of spoilers, but just in case I won't reveal what it is before asking. Is it okay to reveal Padme's fate?

From the new trailer you see Sidious whip out his saber on Windu ("Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?") and his band of sword masters. Want to know what happens?

HELL YES! Also anything regarding Polis Massa, it's inhabitants, and Grievous. More Grievous please.

Feel free to post whatever you want, whenever you want, spoilers appreciated.

Sorry for the site being sluggish - 300 to 500 users online all day long tends to do that to us.

Interesting to note how quite few of the leaked *spoiler* pictures from the past few weeks/months seem to be showing up in here. Including one of the Clones in the Senate Chambers that has repeatedly been called fake over at *sigh* TFN......But then i wouldn't be suprised if there were still people over there saying that the trailer is fake and that Palpatine and Sidious are different people.

Props to the guys for sharing these images though. Can't wait for the Visual Dictionary and Incredible Cross-Sections books for EP3....

Dear Probe Droid,

First, super job you've done, PD! I think I can speak for everyone when I say we're grateful for every page you've sent! :chewbacca:

Always wanted to use that dancing Wookiee...

However, I've noticed that one natural problem of scanning in a hardcover book is that some of the text on the edges of the pages is cut off and, therefore, tough to make sense of. You have done a great deal already, but is it possible simply to type in the full paragraphs of certain pages?

Don't feel required to do it, Probot. Just a humble request...

Best regards,
Erik

Awesome scans! Thank you! :heavymetal:

It's awesome reading alot of the stuff on this VD that Tern has been reporting to us all of this time. The stuff with the droids is pretty interesting...and I love the fact that the "black sand next to the lava river" is mentioned...which we just learned from Tern the other day. Awesome stuff.

I also find it hilarious that the pic of Shocktroopers in a senate pod (which was posted over at the JC awhile back) that many exclaimed "fake!" to ended up being legit. Too fucking funny.

And...yes....please unblur the fate of Padme, and post the scans of the Palpy, Yoda and others pages. Those have to contain some of the juiciest spoilers of the book, methinks.

Some essential information for the outcome of the whole saga I'd say.

Confirmation only 3PO's memory is wiped

"R2D2s retention...which will one day amaze the galaxy": Death Star plans

"Only R2-D2 will have full...access to theior saddest memories"

Amusingly Anakins own modifications enable R2 to save the Rebellion. Through R2, 3PO and Luke, Anakin sows the seed of his own redemption (in a manner of thinking...)

Finally is Anakin popularly known as "the Hero with No..." What!"?

Yes, The Hero With No Fear. Ironic.

Several other observations:

"While Sidious is pleased that Anakin's rage has survived intact, Darth Vader is not what Sidious was expecting, and not the perfect apprentice to perpetuate the legacy of the Sith"

"As a result of having artificial arms Darth Vader will never be able to conjure Sith lightning - nor be invunerable to it"

Speculation:

To cage the tiger when Vader unleashes his medical room rage, Sidious restrains him with lightning. As Vader is "limited" in his abilities this pathetic creation is told he needs to prove his mercilessness or be fried. If Sidious makes clear he merely tolerates Vader's reduced existence, it may spur him to prove his worth in the knowledge of certain death otherwise.

This is pretty much a rehash of speculation concerning the "I must obey my master" line. But Sidious is now the only one in the Galaxy who can kill Vader. Until Luke arrives - who is then possibly the only one who can subdue the Sith lightning - with the right training. "As father and Son" Vader can be freed, but as Luke does not learn this skill that option vanishes in the DS throne room forcing a decision to be made.

Sorry about the blurs. I initially posted these over on the RPF where, even though the thread was marked as SPOILER ALERT in several places, one guy carped about info leaking about Padme's death, even though it's been common knowledge since Jedi that the twin's mother dies right after birth. So, I blurred out this part:

"Awakened from his life-altering reconstruction on a gleaming table in Sidious's laboratory, Anakin learns that Padme is dead, most like from his own hand. His subsequent scream destroys nearly everything in the lab, including most of the med droids. The realization that he has killed the person he loved most will haunt him for the rest of his life. "

There is another small pic (not worth scanning) of Padme looking none to good with the caption:

"Gravely injured by Anakin's Force choke, Padme is brought to a nearby medical facility on Polis Massa. Dying, despite the care she is given, she tells Obi-Wan that she still feels there is good in Anakin."

And that's Padme's sad story.

Okay, regarding the "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi" scene where Palpy whips out his saber, Mace has brough Agen Kolar, Saese Tiin, and Kit Fisto, the best Jedi swordsman, along to arrest Palpi but: "before Mace realizes what has happened, Kolar, Tiin, and Fisto have fallen to Sidious's blade."

then:

"Allowing vaapad to flow through him, Mace leaps to engage the Sith Lord, unaware that the person who will figure most in his own death is not Sidious, but Anakin."

I'll try to get more pix up if my host cooperates. I'll cut down on the size, maybe that will help.

Palpatine's face is deformed by Sith lightning.

My guess, when he tries to kill Yoda, the Jedi Master knocks the lightning back in his kisser, which is probably how he escapes.

Palpy keeps his saber hidden in the sculpture on his desk.

Mace reflects Sith Lightning back at Sidious. By the time he faces Yoda, he has already declared the Empire to the Senate as his hideos self.

Oha! Just like VT-16, I thought the Palpatine face was some kind of "mask". But I actually like the idea of the Sith lightning scarring.

Does that mean Luke wasn't hit in the face by Sidious' lightning? Are some of unmasked Vader's facial scars a result of Sidious' lightning? Why isn't Sidious immune to his own lightning?
Just kidding... :)

Apparantely reflecting it magnifies the intensity or something.
Like in AOTC, when Yoda absorbed and unleashed it back at Dooku. Dooku countered with more lightning, and a giant explosion was made.

Maybe it is Mace who zaps Palpi in the puss.

The Yoda thing was just a guess because I know Yoda and Sidious go at it, but Yoda gets away. That old ROTJ "Do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor" line is going to have a whole new meaning.

Mace apparently practices something called vaapad, which is close to the Dark Side, so maybe it is him who gives sidious that medium-rare look.

I'll try to do some more scanning tonight. Glad everyone is enjoying the pix.

I'm actually kinda bummed out with the revelation that Vader is NOT the ultimate apprentice for Sidious - I thought the reason for showing Maul, then Tyranus was to show that Anakin/Vader was the culmination of what a Sith Apprentice should be.

So, even at this point (Episode III), Palpatine is just waiting for Luke or Leia?

I guess it works in that Vader TRULY is a tragedy. A slave who never was freed. First Gardula, then Watto, then the Jedi Code, then Sidious.

That Lightning thing was awesome to read. Great stuff.

It is. The problem is Vader after ROTS is simply a dilluted version, which Palpatine wasn´t expecting. When Luke comes along 20 years later, he sees an opportunity to get what he wanted in the first place.

Sidious's face changes because of Sith Lightning, but NOT because it's deflected into him. Or at least that's what the action figures at galactichunter.com seem to indicate, or the original MF spoilers.

Sidious's whole body changes, not just his face. Why would his whole body age just because lightning was deflected?

I think the point is that he uses too much of it and the Dark Side physically destroys him on the spot. He gets worse each time he uses it, he goes from Palpatine to what you see fighting Yoda then from fighting Yoda to the ESB hologram Emperor by the end. So yeah, the lightning is what does it to him but its his use of it, not it being thrown back at him.

The whole 'deflect' theory comes from the BTH 'Force Feedback'. Like somehow a lightning feedback loop is created or something.

All I know is I don't want to be scratching my head after the scene saying, "OK, why exactly did he change like that?", the movie needs to be pretty clear on the why. That's why I think it would be something physical like that, and not him just going 'Bilbo' when he shoots the lightning.

Here at MF, every Visual Dictionary page is worth scanning, to us at least. If you post the scans here first using http://www.imageshack.us or http://www.paintedover.com the scans would be immediately mirrored and rehosted. The bigger the scans, the better.

Various requests:
- Anything Mustafar / Mustafarians
- Polis Massa / Polis Massans
- Padme, Padme, Padme
- Grievous, Grievous, Grievous

Also could you repost the Vader scans with unblurred text, even though you posted the text here. Thanks in advance. :)

Quickly: Darth Plagueis is mentioned as Sidious's master,

It is Windu who gives Palpi the frog face, and

Yoda and OWK learn the secrets of how to survive death with one's consciousness intact from...Qui-Gon Jinn.
