The last three pages of the novel, the ones about Anakin's tortured mind and soul made me bawl my eyes out. I couldn't stop crying, which surprised me quite a bit. Excellent stuff. This novel seems to be very well written. Unfortunately this exact scen can't really be in the film since its anakin's thoughts. Even though there's the force tantrum I wonder if the audience will understand the pain as it is so beautifully described here.

Incredibly powerful stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Call me a softy, but I had a lump in my throat through much of it. That description of Vader's mental and physical anguish, and his slowly wakening knowledge of what he had done and what his fate was, brought tears to my eyes.

I typed up the Vader stuff.

This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever:
The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain.
The light burns you. It will always burn you. Part of you will
always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames
chew upon your flesh.

You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh,
and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can
never stop it. You cannot even slow it down.

You don’t even have lungs anymore.
Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They
will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever.

Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me?

And you can’t, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the
shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your
brain.

You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate
light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around
you.

Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that
is hideous.

Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? you try to say, but
another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves
you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat.

“Padme? Are you here? Are you all right?”
I’m very sorry, Lord Vader. I’m afraid she died. It seems in your
anger, you killed her.

This burns hotter than the lava had.
“No… no, it is not possible!”

You loved her. You will always love her. You could never will
her death.

Never.
But you remember…
You remember all of it.

You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth
from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s
blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black
hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth-

And there is one blazing moment in which you finally under-
Stand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That
there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker.

That it was all you. Is you.

Only you.
You did it.
You killed her.

You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her,
When you could have gone away with her, when you could have
been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself

It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the
trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith –

Because now, your self is all you will ever have.

And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to
crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less
now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you
are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can re-
member where the power was but the power you can touch is
only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is
only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the
table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you
cannot touch the shadow.

In the end, you do not even want to.

Awesome to read descriptions of these scenes, indeed.. however.. god, that's crap writing. It's a sad day when that guy can get a job. Not every thought requires a new paragraph break. "And the galaxy".. I laughed aloud at how hackish that was.

Agreed Bob. Nick Gillard was asked in one of the hyperspace chats something about vapaad and he had no clue what vapaad even was. So for Stover to bring it into the novel as one of the major things in one of the big fights feels completelyt unnecessary. i hate how Stover made such abig deal out of vapaad.

I have to say that after reading the excerpt on HS that I wasn't about to shell out any cash for the novelization. I mean the whole youngsters being the saviour of the galaxy was total BS.

But after reading just a couple of pages of the Windu/Palpatine fight...

DAMN this movie is going to kick ass!!

And I'm going to spend the dough to buy the novelization.. damn you GL.. my credit card can't take much more of this...

Bravo war monger

I don't think there is any more than we already got, considering that the page where Anakin entered the temple was on page 342 and orde 55 chapter began on page 343. The rest will probably be when Obi-Wan is checking the security cam. can't wait for that.

Poor Obi, here he thinks Anakin died in Order 66. he will be in for the biggest surprise of his life watching the security cam.

PLEASE scane the following pages after 363 where we were abruptly interrupted. :)

For the novelization to be this good, it had to have a killer story to begin with. I think RotS will exceed my expectations. I really think George knocked this one out of the park.

I read that damn TPM novel... disliked it immensely... but I am definitely buying this one

Man, Saesee and Agen really didn't know what was coming. Palpatine came out of his chair lightning fast, as we saw in the Trailer, and swung his blade at Saesee's head. Then, before Saesee's head even hit the ground, Agen Kolar had an extra hole in his face - right through his forehead.

If it plays out like this in the film, man, this scene is gonna make me go CRAZY.
