E3 Kashyyyk Report

Postby Artmaul » May 13th 2004 1:16 am

So I was asking some questions about the role Kashyyyk and the Wookies have in Episode 3 and if it was at all like the environment and setting for the Republic Commando game, and the person I was talking to was for the most part tight-lipped to his credit, but he did tell me that the Transdoshan / Wookiee conflict isn't really prevalent in the movie, but may possibly be referrenced. He was very careful not to give anything away, but from my own observations of the game:

Grevious' bodyguards are amazingly agile and do spinning jump attacks with their electrified poles.

We see Grevious' ship. It is sort of rectangular shaped with angled lines (from what I remember). Nothing too fancy.

Grevious is very cool, but never fights in the game, because as one of the programmers said, "He would totally destroy you without a chance."

The Transdoshan slavers are being fortified by the droid armies (hence Grevious' visit to Kashyyyk -- which is some kind of mystery within the game, so it is quite possible the Transdoshan presence will be gone during Episode 3, with only a droid army remaining as a garrison).

Hey ArtMaul...Cool info. Thanks!

I've been speculating that the henchmen combine transformer style to make Grevious ship, because they look like they are made of fenders and brakelights and such...does the ship look similar to the Henchmen. or am I barking up a bad speculation tree here?

No, there's a seperate ship that Grevious actually peels away in, leaving you and you buddies to deal with the henchmen. One of the commandos even says, "Look, it's General Grevious' ship!"

SI has stated that one Grievous's ships may resemble the Imperial Shuttle from the Original Trilogy.

Atleast Pablo said there would be no Trandoshans?

but he did tell me that the Transdoshan / Wookiee conflict isn't really prevalent in the movie, but may possibly be referrenced.

yeah that's right. I'm not sure how similiar to the Tyderium shuttle it is but it does have folding wings, which as we know is :heavymetal:

I doubt his ship from the movie would show up on a platform game tho.

The problem for me with things like this comes from wondering where does all of this great droid technology disappear to in the OT?

The "Empire is suppressing it" argument doesn't work.

Thanks Artmaul...

Montana, those pics look awesome. Almost Doom3ish....

Hade, it's not that farfetched...look at Iraq, even before the war...and they are just on the other side of the planet...they couldn't even get water a lot of times...It makes sense that under 20 years of economic and military oppression that technology would suffer...

Whoa so that's the POV of the clonetrooper? Very cool if so. I've always wanted a Boba Fett game with that POV.

So Ric Olie is in the game, apparently. ;)

I like the fact that they're using the trademark hologram transmissions in the game. Are these screenshots from the PC or XBox version?

Interesting quote by Carl Cunningham over at Chud about E3. I also posted this in the other E3 topic...

"Oh, and I did view some very secretive and clandestine demo footage from a game that will come out about this time next year that include footage from the film from which it's based. And that is ALL I can say".

Could be just me, but remember that false/ghey TFN report, neigh, 5 or 6 months ago where they had someone "draw" up the "first spoiler" image of grevious - and it basically looked like a vader pic and was, obviously now, a fake...

This image from the game looks pretty close-ish to it.

Then we got the reports at EP-X about Grevious having a "brain" exposed under some plexi-glass thing - which turned out to be fake, but then it turned up on his henchman...

So maybe those reports were right, the dude leaking the information obviously didn't know his grevious from his bodyguards...

Just an observation after the fashion...

Star Wars Battlefront

Postby Artmaul » May 15th 2004 1:14 pm

I finally got to play this game at E3. Think Halo on crack in classic Star Wars settings like Hoth, Geonosis, etc.

I have but one thing to say about this game:

IT FUCKING RULES!!! :heavymetal:

Just so I can gauge your excitement correctly:

Would you rather play Republic Commando

OR

Use Monica Belluci as your plaything for the afternoon

?

Was there any mention of Fighting Jedis in the Game or will it be all anti Droid levels?

Hey Tony, thanks for taking down that Bellucci icon. The new one(s) are far less distracting. :|

Uh, no they don't. Grievous and his Henchmen won't survive Ep3. Vader will.

I like the way that Grievous + Henchmen are going to precurse Vader. Palpatine is throwing everything he can at the Jedi to make sure he gets what he wants - and after pissing about with droids for 10 years or so he finally gets these guys. Cool shakes!

I don't know if anyone knows the answer to this, but other than the fight with Obi-Wan, are the Henchmen going to figure in this movie? They're not going to be fighting clone-troopers are they?
