OK, here is some info I have on Kashyyyk and the events that happen there. It comes from a few different sources - some known, others not. Some of you guys already know about this stuff, and to others some of this info is already known, but that's not gonna stop me from rehashing some old stuff :chewbacca: So anyway here is what I know for anyone who is interested:

The why's and how's are more difficult to answer eg. why is Yoda on Kashyyyk? Is he there for a reason for this other than leading clones against the separatists? what is it about this planet that is so important?

Going by what EP has already said, GL has really tried to distance this planet from Endor by giving the landscape and vistas a different feel - massive lakes, gargantuan sprawling trees, organic-type weaponry and machinery, and a technologically enhanced species aka the Wookies. Besides The Duel this is one sequence I'm really looking forward to seeing, for a few reasons too.

From what I hear, the Battle of Kashyyyk is the catalyst as far as truly ending the Clone Wars. The clones are doing a good job of decimating the droid forces with the help of the wookies. It's about this time when Sidious orders the clones to turn on the Jedi and anyone else nearby. Yoda creates confusion for some neatrby clones by turning into the befuddled old alien we see in ESB. This lasts long enough for him to waste the resistance around him, and it's here I think that Chewie makes his appearance by grabbing the Jedi Master and high-tailing it through the trees at break-neck speed. In order to get to the Wookie city/spaceport they must journey through the forest and away from the clonetroopers, who are now ordered to blast anything on sight. This is where things get hazy as far understanding motives goes. Chewie shows Yoda the remains of an old abandoned Jedi temple/outpost regarded by Chewie as a sacred place. Yoda begins to explore the ruins and here he comes across *something of importance*. I've been told it's a Sith hologram. What it's of I'm unsure, but his may be the reason why Yoda is so keen to get back to Coruscant? Did Yoda know this temple was on Kashyyyk? Is this why he was on kashyyyk in the first place? hmm dunno... Anyways they scoot from there and finally arrive at the spaceport, which byall accounts looks friggin' amazing perched up very high in the treetops. "Elevators" are used to get up to the canopy and Chewie gets Yoda to a transport straight away. This is the last we see of Chewie until ANH. Yoda's destination is Coruscant where he meets up with Obi-Wan and where they discover they have been rissoled by the Sith.

From here it's all bad, real bad.

Good stuff. I'm excited about seeing Yoda play the simpleton again.

About the hologram... I heard "Sith Book" somewhere, but I don't know if it was accurate or not.

it sucks when rumers are still left to linger after they have been firmly discredited. oh well...! on a side note, i hope that anakin being the hero of the clone wars is fully fleshed out and realized, so we get a better sense of what anakin could have been before his fall from grace, or at least we get an impression of his sense of dutiy and noblity.

The various rumors about Yoda finding something Sith-related always makes me think of this Lucas quote:

One of the things that will never get explained in the films is how Ben was able to retain his identity, because it happened somewhere in between the third and fourth movies. I set up that this is a discipline that he learned from Yoda; Yoda told him how to do that. We don't ever get to see how he does it, but the idea of retaining your identity after you've passed on is something that Ben learned as a Jedi. - Extract from The Annotated Screenplays (Laurent Bouzerou), 1997

So far, it doesn't seem Yoda knows anything about this. He may learn something important on Kashyyyk. There is also this quote, which might be related:

The other one that gets asked a lot is why doesn't Qui-Gon disappear like everybody else? That's a plot point that centres around Obi-Wan saying to Vader/Anakin in the first one, "If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." There is an issue about the Force and that will be revealed ... There's a lot of things that will be explained more. Some of it is important plot stuff - the Qui-Gon one is, 3PO isn't. - Extract from Empire Magazine 07/99

Are there any Sith Books, Holocrons, Parchments, or Artifacts in EP3?

No.

Cheers SI! GREAT STUFF

The only part I'm not really convinced about is the Temple and Sith Hologram stuff. I will be surprised if this is in Episode III. I think Yoda just wants to get back to Coruscant because it's his home, he's been long before Palpatine, and he wants to see whats become of his Temple and try and sort the mess out. Chewie helps get him to Kashyyyks capital in order for him to get the transport back to Coruscant.

I'm can't wait to see all this!

And as you say, from here, it's downhill all the way....

well there's no problem with a Sith object/artifact being kept in a Jedi Temple. Seeing as how the Sith were destroyed a millenia ago, it'd be a good idea to keep some of their secrets in close proximity.

As I recall Pablo only commented on the term "parchment" and I'm not finding the term "parchment" in SI's opening message. Feel free to correct me.

Ewok Pudu aka TheForce.net's Darth Friday was the one who said there *might* be a book page or something and that Yoda takes it and confronts Palpatine/Sidoious with it. Again "might".

So you have two different sources commenting on a Sith holocron/parchment/book page whatever and Pabawan debunking one of them.

Oh and at one time in the Episode II days Yoda had a lightsaber in his cane - a "Cane Saber" if you will.

yeah I was explicitly told it was a "hologram". Not a book, parchment, holocron, or artifact et al.

So what Pabs says is right.....from a certain point of view. :monocle:

I realized that you definitely have to approach some of what Pab's says with a certain POV. He said on the OS that Hayden wasn't carrying Foami-Wan on his back, it was the real Ewan. But he failed to mention the purpose of Foami-Wan, which was for the sake of Hayden carrying on his back. The question of did Natalie film something for the OT, he said no. But the question was likely concerning Episode 3- did she film something during Ep3 for the OT DVDs- answer: no. I still think it's possible that missing shot from AOTC could be for the OT DVDs. Pabs wouldn't mention it anyway if it were.

I asked that question specifically and the answer I got was "NO".

Chewie hooks him up with a transport from Kashyyyk and they rendezvous on Coruscant. Similarily Obi-Wan hijacks GG's starship.

I'm not sure what to make of all this "Sith artifact" business. It seems a little off to me. Lucas typically has characters deliver information, not objects. In fact in AOTC he conspicuously had Dex deliver information that the Jedi archives didn't contain. Couple that with Pablo's debunk, and I'm disinclined to believe the rumor.

Otherwise the Wookieeworld scene sounds wicked cool.

Isn't the Kashyyyk sequence the one that Steven Spielberg and his crew were working on? Someone on the TFN boards hinted that Lucas had allowed Spielberg to oversee the animatics of the action elements of the sequence to give it a Saving Private Ryan-like flavor.

Was this merely a rumor or did The Berg actually do some work on some of the Kashyyyk scenes?

The whole parchment/page thing was always a vague element from my source.

Its been so long now. I'm PRETTY sure they said the word "sith" but it could have been conjecture and speculation on their part regarding what Yoda takes with him at the end.

I never ever heard he had found it on Kashyyyk. Doesn't mean that he doesn't find it there, but the impression I had was that Yoda escapes with something after his Sidious duel and has it to "meditate on" at the end of the film.

As for Obi-Wan and Yoda and how they get to Coruscant. Them getting there together was totally speculation on my part based on the facts at hand. (they both get betrayed by their troops on different worlds, and both end up together on Coruscant after the big "turn".)

Regarding Yoda and Chewbacca on Kashyyyk, only things I was told was about Yoda taking out all kinds of clone troopers and also playing up the "away with your weapons, I mean you no harm" schtick to avoid confrontation later and Chewie helps him escape at this point. Also, they escape on the Republic Speeder (the 2-seater swamp boat looking vehicle that the picture of was so infamously leaked).

The only other point my source told me about the wookiees, was that Chewie would be considered a "small" wookiee after Episode 3 (and after seeing what they've done, I realize that they meant both in terms of height and width). Also the Wookiee guns were pretty cool. All big and brass looking (which you've seen on one of the first documentaries).

And thats all I've got to say about that...

I was specifically told that they rendezvous on Coruscant and Yoda leaves Kashyyyk via a transport of some kind. This way avoids the sloppy exposition of having Obi-Wan kill GG and then cruise all over the galaxy just to pick the frog up.

And thats all I've got to say about that...

SI,

When you said "Chewie gets Yoda to a transport straight away. This is the last we see of Chewie until ANH" it got me wondering about the fuzzball.

Have you heard anything that elaborates on Chewies exit from the film? Is there any type of "good bye hairy one you are" between him and Yoda or is he like an extra in the film and needs no exit? I guess what I'm asking is does the film set Chewie up on his path towards the events of Episode IV or is he forgotten about?

Yoda and a Wookie having a conversation would crack me up.

Thanks for sharing what you heard man, I appreciate it.

As far as I am aware there is NO book/page/parchement/holocron etc. It was specifically stated as a hologram. What the hologram is of I'm uncertain, but the word "Sith" was mentioned and it was an important discovery by Yoda.

Like I said, many questions remain unanswered on Kashyyyk. I don't want anyone to read any more into what I've said because the answers won't be revealed until

A) the script leaks

B) the movie comes out

C) another uber-insider comes along with more knowledge and spills his guts

I don't much buy the rumor, but here's a bit of speculation:

If we're not sure this "hologram" is from Kashyyk, what would make more sense? That it's something hidden in the Jedi temple. Maybe while Obi-Wan runs off to talk to Padme, Yoda sticks around the place and finds something revealing about the Sith. As he gets this piece of information, Darth Sidious shows up to give him a heiny-whupping. Wizard duel ensues. Eventually Yoda retreats with knowledge of how to defeat the Sith.

what if this place was dookus base of operations durring the clone war,and while investigating yoda found the death star plans.

by the way, just for curiosity and speculations sake, does any one think it would be cool if:

I like "The Star Wars" idea. After Dooku is killed, GG returns to Coruscant (EP) and meets with Sidious who instructs him to go to Utapau and pick up his henchmen. He is then ordered to Mustafar to over see and protect an ultimate weapon that the separatists have begun constuction on.

GG is intercepted by Obi-Wan who sees the message relayed to PALPATINE on Coruscant. Obi-Wan reports back to Mace Windu who immediately goes to the Chancellor's Office. Palpatine begins to wipe out anyone who knows of the plans and looks to protect his interest. Anakin is sent to Mustafar and attempts to stop Obi-Wan. Padme doesn't realise Anakin's mission until she arrives and sees the beginnings of the Ulitmate weapon...

Brain fart.

I just wish I had a little more to fill in the gaps, but I'm quite certain Yoda being on Kashyyyk is no coincidence. He is there on his own agenda and it could be he directs Chewie to the Jedi outpost, not them just stumbling upon it deep in the forest.

I want Ian D. to deliver that story...

I would really like to see this in Episode III. I think we need some Sith background.
