I hope the animators do the CG work justice and he looks as realistic moving as he does in stills.

Awesome. Obi-Wan obviously struggling to believe it, Yoda actually looks pretty good as CG in this one.

AOTC Yoda is great, aside from a few scenes, and it depends on the individuals working those peticular scenes anyway. Animated characters vary in quality from scene to scene based on the people associated with those shots.

In TPM, they COULD replace the puppet and I've heard rumours of it, but how worth it will it be in the long run? Would it be cool...sure, but I'm content.

This could provide the proof to people who say that Obi-Wan becomes very powerful when he taps into the dark-side.

Theres no specific rumour. Its just when people compare the power of the Jedis that battle it doesnt seem likely that Obi-wan could beat anakin. Though I take the view that he defeats him because he taught anakin and is less rash some people believe it is because Obi becomes more powerful when he is angry.

Like when he deals with Maul but fails against Dooku

Rawhead commented that you can see obi-wans anger boiling up inside. I was just commenting on the implications of that.

Doesn't look like anger to me, it looks like he's seriously trying to understand why Anakin has carved up the Temple. Jedi don't get angry. Obi-Wan got angry at Maul and got arse knocked off a ledge for his trouble. Part of the Jedi's problem is that they don't emote, they're too detatched and cleanly logical.

The only instance I heard of Obi-wan tapping into the darkside was in the Episode III lead-in novel Labyrinth of Evil and that is the readers interpretation. It was also suggested that Yoda taps into the darkside in the lead-in novel when "looking" for Sidious via The Force or some such again.

Just passing on other readers thoughts here. Perhaps Dingo and others can chime in here. Now I haven't read the novel, nor do I plan to unless it's available for download somewhere.

Yup, neither touch the darkside. There is a single instance in LoE (and after doing a quick search I can't seem to find it) where I think that a simple typo gives the impression that it's Obi-Wan doing something when in fact it's Anakin.

As for Yoda, while in both LoE and DR it is hinted at Yoda having brushed with the darkside many centuries ago, he doesn't here. He encounters blocks while trying to divine what's going on, but doesn't tap into the darkside.

The body that Yoda and Obi-Wan are looking at is Cin Drallig. They notice lightsaber wounds, indicating a Jedi was invloved - unlike the Younglings who only have blaster shots. Yoda names Anakin, but Obi-Wan cannot believe it until he can see for himself.

So, your saying the younglings were killed by the clones, not anakin?

All of them or just the older ones?

Interesting thought I had, bacta's right the resemblence is uncanny. thats what ObiWan did all those years, mourn the children and blame himself. This is just a visual reminder of the parelleling(sp?) of the trilogies. His sadness in ANH is the same sadness he feels in the pic.

I think this is a good idea. Ideally the shot of Nick Gillard's character (who is protecting the younglings) fighting Anakin will make it in. So he's evil in the sense that he led the Stormtroopers in the assault that killed the younglings, and killed the Jedi trying to protect them, but didn't use his own hands to murder them. It kind of makes him an accessory to their murder. I guess it fits the argument that Vader isn't entirely responsible for Alderaan blowing up because he didn't give the order, he just stood by and watched while Tarkin gave it. At the end of the day the tone of the movie will remain the same, as we still see children slaughtered. It’s just not by Vader, because otherwise when the audience sees him at the end of RotJ they’ll think ‘…but he murdered children’. Yes, he did (but he didn’t).

I just asked Spoileriffic and he gave me permission to say this.

He said as far as he knows, Anakin kills two teenagers but not any of the little kids.

EDIT: He also said all he knows is that Anakin takes out Mousy McCallum and one of George's kids with his saber and then fights Cin Drallig.

To show him killing the younglings with his own hands would make him incapable of being redeemed by most moviegoers. I think the proposed scenario makes sense in the greater scope of the saga.

I don't think this lessens Anakin at all. I mean, if it was just him against a whole fucking temple of Jedi, he's toast. Chosen One or not. So he still goes there to kill Jedi, he just, intelligently, brings clones with him. The clones pick off what they can which includes kids.
But naturally, some people bitch and moan that Anakin doesn't kill kids. They have no appreciation for the balancing act here. Vader has to be evil, but he also has to be redeemed at the end. How far is too far?
Most people don't consider that in their 'alternate treatments'. They just have him kill whoever because he's evil and that's that. They're stuck in black and white world.

But do realize that all of the younglings aren't human. Human or not, a kid is a kid and Anakin has already killed them.

That has to be one of the most realistic 3D images I've ever seen. Yoda is literally alive in that picture for the first time.

You're right, Yoda looks amazing, the way he interacts with the light. He could be a physical puppet there (except we know he'll move better than any puppet). That's also the first pic where I actually buy Ewan McGregor as a younger Alec Guinness.

I am quite impressed with the assessment that Ewan McGregor looks like Alec Guinness. That is a very important issue to be faced in regards to the continuity of this film. (prospectively)
