What marketing fuck at Lucasarts came up with that? Seriously. Drop that commercial NOW.

They were doing so well. The Tragedy II trailer was kickass, and then they come up with this crap. It's so funny how minimal marketing still worked in '77 and now they're whoring a film they don't need to.

That was just lame when I heard/saw/read everyone else say it, but now that Lucasfilm jacked it, that's the gayest shit I ever seen.

Is there any point to bitching about an ad, you're seeing the movie either way.

Well, it's no worse than "Yoda da Man" on the AOTC DVD commercials. Remember that?

It's funny because I was talking to my dad just yesterday about how movies have changed over the years and I specifically said that even taglines are getting to be awful. This was before I saw the "Sith Happens" tag today (saw in on G4). That's just horrible. I thought taglines like that were reserved for shit like Baseketball and that caliber. Could you imagine what Dances With Wolves would be like if they marketed it today? "Go...where no...buffalo....have gone....BEFORE!"

Yes, and I imagine you're much younger than me so it would be pointless to try to convey what a good movie used to be like.

Superman's tag line was "You'll belive a man could fly". Perfect tagline.

Yeah, I forgot about the Yoda thing.

I just think you're making a big deal out of one commercial airing a couple days before the movie for one day. This isn't the theatrical trailer, this is just a tv spot that'll probably air on Nickelodean or something.

'Yoda man' was the worst thing I had ever seen Star Wars attached to.

What's worse: "Sith happens" or that freakin lame anouncer at the end of all the trailers "opens everywhere may 19th". His voice doesn't fit and besides. we can read the big red letters at the end of the trailers! They could at least have had JEJ as vader say that crap, at least then it would sort of fit.

In 1979, the tagline for Alien was "In space, noone can hear you scream". The tagline alone sent shivers up your spine. "Sith Happens" is a poor attempt at humor which is a complete converse to the Tragedy II trailer. Is this a comedy? A Tragedy? Is Will Ferrel in it?

i think your going too far.. sure its not the best trailer ever.. but it could be alot worse...

its light humour.. not meant to make you scream with laughter.. just a rise smile will do.. and then stfu and wait for the film :)

meh... it's not so bad. At least they didn't put "Sith Happens" together. I actually took it to mean:

"Revenge of the (Sith) begins (Happens)"

This really isn't that bad. Nothing surprises me after the "Who da man? Yoda Man!" ads for Episode II"

I found one for the DVD, but not for the theatrical Release

Heh, I'd hardly say that "Sith Happens" was chosen as the tagline. It's just a cheap pun they played on a joke which would have been funny.... had it not been completely rehashed about a million times. As it is, it's just a bad pun, but not an overly obtrusive one. "Yo Da Man" Was a bazillion times worse; this one, at the very least, wasn't narrated by Mr. Comic Book Man. The folks over at marketing are probably just as antsy as we are waiting for this movie to open, and this ad is the result.

Does anybody have any links to the TV Spot(the older ones too) that aren't the aol links from starwars.com? I'm at school and SonicWall blocks the downloads from progressive.aol.whatever. Thanks.

Once again, since we're talking about TV Spots, can anyone give me a YouSendIt or YouShareIt or RapidShare link to End of Wars and maybe Protect and Seduction?

While it does seem that there is a load of over commercialization going on, at least it's about STAR WARS for once, instead of some other crap movie/series, etc.

Indeed. I'd delete them now if I could. There were just some people at school who hadn't seen any TV Spots and I was really jonesing for a link.
