Quote:
In the newly edited scene, Greedo says something to Han before shooting (Maclunkey!), although no subtitle appears at the bottom of the screen. Han proceeds to shoot once. This is followed by “a new explosion [that] covers a transition from them shooting to Greedo hitting the table, removing the Greedo dummy altogether.”

This is how Lucas communicates his rancor to the fanbase. He speaks in changes.

Thanks to a post at Galatcic Hunter, I came across the article below, which details all the changes to the 2019 version of ANH. Very interesting.

He missed an obvious one: the Death Star explosion has its color back.

And yet they still can't fix Luke's lightsaber jump-cuts? :|

Did they redo the color grading? I haven't watched any of the films on Disney+ to judge but looking at those comparison screenshots the colors look better, less garishly saturated and blue tinted than the '04 version.

Yes, the excessive blue shift is all but gone and the saturation reduced.

Nice! Were ESB and ROTJ regraded too or just ANH?

The original trilogy was regraded. I haven't gone through the prequels yet but now that 4K rips are "out" I have more incentive to go frame hopping.

It's worth noting that the color grade does not necessarily take the films back to the way they were photographed. It's still a modern interpretation but not crushed and shifted all to hell like the blu-rays. There was also care taken to match tones from shot to shot so lightsabers now look consistent as they always have in our imaginations. As the digital bits article pointed out though, not all the previous revisions made it to this cut which probably means somebody didn't take great notes in 2010.

My non-Dolby Vision 4K TV plays them atrociously but they look good on the computer screen. Also, others have determined the transfers are not true HDR. The resolution increase is very much worth it though and the color grade provides a fresh way to view these films again.
