I guess it was more surprising for me, as opposed to disapointing. I still enjoyed it, I was just not expecting things the way they played out. But it does look to be an interesting set-up for the rest of the season.

Oh, and a long standing rumor still makes the most sense:
[spoil]One of the first rumors I heard about season 2 was that Kensei was going to be played by a Caucasian instead of an Asian actor. It sounded strange at the time, but it was also said that that actor was actually an immortal (like Claire, but maybe not in the same exact ways) and that he was over a thousand years old. It was speculated at that time that this character was the evil person that Molly Walker didn't want to think about.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm too busy to dig up the source, but it makes sense. Allthough just knowing of this rumor may spoil the entire season for me if it's true. Still, would be neat.[/spoil]

This season needs to get moving. After 4 episodes, nothing has really happened that has moved things along from last season. Nathan shaved. Great. Sylar is getting back to civilization. Wonderful. The Bennetts don't trust each other. Who knew? My main problem is that the two heroes I cared about the most last season, Peter and Hiro, are in situations right now that A. I don't even care about, and B. Aren't even connected to the overall arc of the season. Last year, these two characters figured into the endgame of the main story: Stopping the nuclear explosion. This year, one doesn't even know who he is (and more aggravating: Now acts like he doesn't care to know) and the other one is 400 years in the past playing around with his childhood hero, which I must say [spoil]Takezo Kensei better turn out to be the true villain that is killing all the old heroes OR turn out to be Linderman or I'm going to be pissed[/spoil] Either way, without finding out that Matt Parkman's father was connected with the original Heroes, nothing is really going on so far this season. Which just makes me miss Lost that much more this fall.

I really couldn't agree more. Peter's story has really been irritating me, or the lack there-of which ties to the other characters so far. Hopefully mid season Peter will be back to his normal self, and he will have found/accomplished/defeated whatever Kring has him in Ireland for.

[spoil]The Kensei rumors are very interesting. Now I'll be more engaged in Hiro's story, instead of complaining about the blue screen comping.[/spoil]

The Peter in Ireland thing to me seems almost beneath the standard of writing we've seen on this show from last season. It just feels like a cheap way to let the other characters have their stories unfold without the "burden" of acknowledging the fact that Peter saved the whole damned bunch of them. Sure, they all helped in various ways, but none of it would have worked out if Pete hadn't insisted from himself that he do the hard and right things. They can all move forward in different directions while last seasons central character is off playing gangster amnesiac. Other than his grieving brother and mother, no one else has even mentioned the heroic conclusion of season one. Seems kind of sloppy in that regard so far, to me anyways. I could have written something better than that. I'm professionally available, fyi, Mr Kring. And whoring myself out on the internet as it seems.

I'm thoroughly expecting some kind of revelatory conclusion to all of this btw, that will be so spectacular and engagingly sensible that my criticism here will seem trite and unremarkable by seasons end. But that might just be my hopeful fan-ish-side creeping out. If he never remembers anything, and never goes home, and no one but mushface-reflection-stillwtf-Nathan ever notices, I'm kicking the screen out of my TV.

Well, last nights ep was a little better for me than previous. Here are my thoughts on the ep.

I still can't stand the Mexican siblings and I wish Sylar would kill them already instead of explaining that he is going to in English to the one who can't understand it. That shit is dragging very thin.

I'm glad that the Monica character actually looks like she will become iPod Hero. At least she is going the superhero route anyway, compared to every one else ("Eww! I've got Superpowers! I'm not going to use them!") So far, Sylar and Monica are the only two who look at it like a great thing.

Anyway, so Peter is moving to the future. And so are we..... again. With almost the same type of story. New York City is fucked in the future. Y'know, I know it is always funny that in movies, American cities are always the ones in trouble. In Heroes-verse, does it always have to be NYC? I mean, c'mon. Just for once, can't it be Austin, TX or Billings, MT or my home turf Nashville, TN?

I like that we are getting old school HRG back again. Him killing his old mentor so coldly was awesome.

While we're getting rid of the Ariba Wonder Twins, can we also get rid of the whole Claire story? Yes, I know cheerleaders are bitches and I don't give a fuck. And I wish West would lose his abilities about 2,000 feet off the ground.

Hiro's story finally takes off a little. I'm starting to really believe that Kensei is going to be a big villain by the end of the season.

What did everyone else think?

I dug it. Last season's first few episodes were all about build up as well, so I'm starting to get less annoyed by the pace now that things are starting to happen. Bennet coming full circle is a nice touch. They softened him up at the end of season one, making the fact that he's going stone cold killer again quite the dramatic twist.

As far as getting rid of Claire's arc alltogether, I think that's going overboard, but they deffinately need to take it in a new direction soon. If they could write an episode in which we never see a high school or any other standard teen superficial bullshit, I'd be shocked. They seem to be wasting a lot of potential by only showing her life as a schoolgirl. And her new boyfriend doesn't really get on my nerves, yet, allthough he needs something added storywise. Her having a boyfriend with powers and an anti-social streek just seems too damn convenient. With a tad more depth, it migh all seem less contrived. We need to see him freak out his parents or kill a bully on purpose or something.

And yes, the south of the border twins should die. And so should Sylar. That whole bit is becoming this seasons "Niki/Jessica" for me. I just don't care, and I groan whenever they interrupt the rest of the show by appearing on-screen. Something tells me that Alejandro's virus absorbing ability will play into the cure needed to stop the depopulated future Peter is currently visiting. "Save the Guatemalan, Save the World" doesn't really have a nice ring to it, though.

And as far as that doom laden future is concerned, I too am wondering why they couldn't have chosen another route to take. It bothers me that here we are again, with a character jumping to the future and seeing it all jacked up. And not only that, but it's New York. Again. I know, I know, it's clearly recognizable and because it's usually full of people and big buildings, it somehow has a more dramatic effect that it's empty and desolated. But that doesn't make the fact that it's practically the same thing we saw last season any easier to digest. If they end up saving New York every freaking season, that will be just stupid.

Still, with all the complaining I've just done here, I still like this show. I'm just wondering if the writing staff only had one good season in them. Again, I hope I'm proven wrong.

Yeah, it's annoying really. I guess my favorite fictional view of NYC would be either Escape from New York, or the depiction of it in A.I.. Only in the Ghostbusters 1 and 2 did it ever look like a place I'd want to visit.

I blame coastal bias of the screen-writers.

Why can't things happen in Chicago? It's a semi coastal sized city.

Thanks for the link to that spoiler-site Starkiller. Lots of speculation there, but pretty interesting.

As far as things happening in Chicago, Cryostar, one that pops into mind right away would be I, Robot. And Code of Silence with Chuck Norris, allthough that wasn't really too memorable. And the Blues Brothers of course. Ferris Bueler. Quite a few movies shoot there (Batman) I guess, it just doesn't get to play the vicitim in the big desolation scenes.

Season 3 kicked off last night. I dug it. The first 2 hours of Villians was better than all of season 2 combined. The whole pre-party pre-show thing was way to info-mercially for me, but the show itself was great.

I agree it was better than Season 2. But all this time travel, Future saving stuff is getting old and the writers aren't that smart. Why can't these Heroes have a present time problem to work on? And have it more personal?

This season of Heroes has been awesome. In particular considering the thunderfucking mess they were left to deal with from last season. Season 3 of this show was wretched. I hope they didn't bleed off so many viewers that no one is watching it anymore because so far they have been redeeming themselves.

Anyone else still watching this show?

I watch it sometimes, though i'm not so enthused about it. I think they're relating to cheap marketing tactics like Claire's kiss, and Sylar/Matt and Sylar/Nathan. Though I'm liking teabag in his new roll.

They just confirmed that someone's getting killed today.

Not saying who, but comics continuum and aussilleo files both have the news. Can't say I'll miss the person.

[spoil]Adrian Pasdar (Nathan) gets it. Don't know how either. Apparently, he found out he was getting axed from the show when he read it in a script. No one else told him[/spoil]

Yeah, last week's episode left something to be desired, though Sylar vs Hiro was intriguing.

[spoil]Ummm, he allready got killed last season though. Sylar/Parkman mindfuck not included, his character has allready been axed, technically. So I'm not really too surprised there. I think it's a bad move, cuzathefact that I liked the brotherly dynamic of the Petrelli's, but the way the writers tangled mess of a "story" put Nathan into such an bad/strange place I can't see a way for it all to be undone without coming off as obvious bullshit anyway.[/spoil]

Too bad, though.

Hiro v Sylar was pretty funny. It more or less brought about an endless supply of plot holes in my mind, but a fun exchange none the less.

Darth Maul needs more screen time.
