Master Replicas Luke ESB Force FX Saber vs Anakin's ROTS Force FX Saber

Postby pika122689 » April 23rd 2005 6:24 pm

So is the Anakin Ep3 better than Luke's? I decided to get Luke's because I liked the red buttons overall better than the gold ones, but now I'm kind of wondering whether I should have gotten Anakin's if it had better electronics.

Does it have THAT much better electronics? Even using LESS batteries?

Pika, I can't really compare/contrast cause all I've got is the Ep III Anakin saber (holy sweet merciful zeus, that brilliant, brilliant blue...).

All I can say about the Anakin saber is this: It Fucking Rocks.

That's about it.

Incredible quality. Remarkably bright. The sounds are very in sync with motion and strikes.

My only complaint is that I can't turn the sound off. Sometimes, late at night, I like to simply look at the light... for hours and hours and hours... But the sound is so loud, it keeps my wife up... (Please know I'm just kidding...) But seriously, it is very loud. No sneaking up on anybody with this thing.l

- Bacchus, with two striking thumbs up in reviewing his Anakin ForceFX saber...

^^^
I see what you mean. The Luke ESB Saber is lound too. I wish it had a volume control. The sounds are actually kinda annoying. :p

Anyways, how is you unit? Does the entire tube light up brightly? Mine ALMOST does. Near the rounded tip (I know that doesn't glow), there is a part that just doesn't glow, then above it glows. I already contacted MR to see if I can send for a replacement, though that pisses me off.

How's the hilt as well? The Luke one feels a little big, but then again my hands are small.

Pika ~ I've got no complaints. Nothing but props for this friggin' kick ass twist of a prop.

From what I read, the hilt is indeed a little bit larger than the actual scale replica, due to electronics. But, as I am neither a real Jedi much less Anakin Skywalker, I wouldn't know the difference! I'm a big, lurching six foot something hairy dude, so it feels pretty handy. Kind of a wookie with a saber. So it goes.

The entire tube does seem to light up. Looks pretty damn sharp. Especially when I'm running down the street at 3am wearing nothing but my 1983 Revenge of the Jedi t-shirt.

Just kidding about that last part. Well, about the shirt, at least.

I'm particularly fond of the activate/deactivate feature ~ how the saber doesn't just all light up at once, but rather in stages ~ as though it were really extending. Pretty damn cool.

Now, what I want to know is how durable the saber is... I know it's a collectible and not really designed for bashing cousins on the head, but still... I can see the fight turning out oh so gloriously. The twenty buck plastic diddy versus the Anakin Saber O' Neonic Glory...!

Sweet merciful zeus. Bring it.

Keep on rockin, hombre ~

Yeah, it's pretty durable. Now to duel with someone... only if I could bring this to school. ;)

I wouldn't know where to put it during classes though.

My brother got the Anakin, before then picking up Vader's for me. These are definitely toys for grown-ups (in age if naught else).

I was wondering if anybody knows where a good site is that has the fighting techniques? I had it in my bookmarks a few years back, but it's been a while and nothing google is showing me is much good.

I found a Best Buy with a floor demo Vader saber that they were willing to part with. I'm interested in using it just for the hilt/handle for my costume for the midnight showing - so I can leave the nice new MR Vader saber safe at home. ;)

Does anyone know how to remove the hilt, or can anyone refer me to someone that does??? I am best reached at darthphineas@yahoo.com

Thanks!!! :heavymetal:

I'm happy as hell with my Vader. Handles like a dream and the sound is great.

Gen. Kenobi, have you tried MR's homepage? Unless they're out of stock, you should be able to find it there.

They need to make Oki Wan's saber from "Sith" & Luke's saber from "Jedi"! I've seen both Anakin's & Vader's in person and must say that after seeing them together, I would rather have a blue one. I originally wanted Vader's, but the blue is brighter & looks more realistic when turned on. Wonder if a green saber would be just as bright? :meatwad:

Probably. When it comes to LED's, blue is the brightest and red is the most dim. Green would go somewhere in the middle probably.

I too would like to see a Luke ROTJ go on the market, but if they haven't started adding more to their line of products, I'd put money on the possibility that they won't, period. They're one of those companies. (on principle, rather than demographics)

There was a huge underproduction of them.

Good luck finding one though, some of them are going for upwards of 800 bucks on EBay.

Word has it that MR will be coming out with more soon to add to their line, specifically a double-bladed Maul...but no timeline is set.

JD over at www.thesabervault.com has indicated that he should be getting some new Force FX stock in VERY soon. He also indicated that he's supposed to be carrying the ROTJ Luke saber and will have more info about that in the next few days.

He's a cool dude. Tell him Darth Phineas sent you.

I'm also trying to stay on top of things over at http://p097.ezboard.com/bphineaslightsaberexchange62257

On the subject of turning off the sound: On the early Force fx blades, you could just remove some of the batteries and the blade would light up but the sound stayed off.
I have no knowledge of the current ones, though.
Bar.

A double-bladed Maul and a Count Dooku are two of the most requested sabers Master Replicas are considering according to one of their reps who post over at rebelscum.com. I'd buy both of those in a heartbeat! :heavymetal:

Good question.

Have you tried just removing a pair at a time. Given that there are only 3 pairs of batteries in there, it should be fairly simple to figure out.

I pick up the Anakin Ep3 saber at best buy a few weeks ago, I love it. My roommate has the whole series of the older sabers, still cool but the power on button is not where it should be. As for the Luke, it was made, but if you see a photo of it like on E-bay it's a bit thicker then what it is during the film, only becasue they had to run the saber down to the bottom. As much as I'll like want to have Obi-Wans, it's a bit too small in certain areas. If you have somre extra cash to spend, go to http://www.parksabers.com They light up but don't make a sound, they also are made for dueling!

Anyone know the cheapest UK price for an FX lightsaber ? the cheapest I can find one is on play.com £89.

There are cheaper ones on Ebay but you can never trust if they are truely brand new.

Thanks, I got one for £65 from r2dtoys.com on Ebay, I got the vader lightsaber, very happy with it, if I've got any complaints its the sound, not as good as I'd hoped and needs to be used in a darkend room for best effect in my opinion.
