Target Playsets: Potentially the first time for Tantive-Blockade Runner Toy

Postby kremzike » August 4th 2005 10:38 pm

I just picked up this vehicle/playset tonight at Target.

Is this the first time the Tantive IV / Rebel Blockade Runner has been made into a toy?

Incidentally, of these new playset/vehicles they had one of these and three Invisible Hands. The package also indicates that they have a third item in this line made from the Clone Turbo Tank. This was the first I had seen or heard of these myself.

Edit: Yes, they gave the mini Anakin figure a green saber. Go figure.

I believe a Lego Tantive IV, Micro Machines Tantive IV and also a Hasbro Collector Fleet Tantive IV have been made before.

Ah, you know, I now think I recall seeing a Micro Machines one. I'd say this is the biggest one so far, though.

The Lego one is massive actually, over 2 feet long. It has over 1700 pieces and cost $200 when it was available.

The first one was an electronic one that retailed for about $35 or so. There were only two in the set, the Tantive and a Star Destroyer. They made sounds from the movie. I'd say it came out around 1996-97.

They didn't sell well, though.

Every toy store I went in back then had them for 10 bucks or less, just trying to get rid of them.

I regret not buying one though.

Man, I wish I would've seen either of those back then. This Tantive is the first i've ever seen... hence the thread. I'd love to have the Tantive & SD toys, but not the Lego model. They don't appeal to me at all.

I have it. If I can find it, maybe I'll take pics and see if it still lights up.

Edit: I found it. Doesn't light up anymore, but it makes sound. And I have to charge my camera. It's not packaged because I didn't buy it packaged so yeah.

Edit: Okay:
