* Battle takes place at dawn above CORUSCANT.

* "...and the wreckage, laserfire, missiles, missile contrails, starfighters and more are layered in, the skies suddenly become very crowded. "

* "... capital ships exchanging broadside fire and bodies tumbling into space, bulkheads rupturing and depressurized atmosphere rushing to fill the void..."

* CLONE and DROID gunner crews

* Scene 137 - SENATE and Scene 130 play concurrently.

-------

Awesome update.

well considering the crusier breaks u[p over Coruscant wouldn't it be safe to assume this battle is over Coruscant.

Although, I think in one of the webchats (Dan Gregoire) he mentioned the opening space battle was "more of a journey."

Dunno....

Unless, the journey starts above Coruscant. It wouldn't surpise me if the opening battle is the beginning of a major chase through EpIII - after all, Grevious leads the fleet and since he escapes, I would assume the rest of the fleet escapes...HYPERSPACE anyone? ;)

Doesn't make sense to have it start in space and end over Coruscant.

Makes more sense to have it start there.

but it ends there, this much we know!

I could feasibly start in outer space with Coruscant just a glistening ball in the distance?

starts in deep space as the general is en route to coruscant, then jumps to hyperspace whilst still fighting, then ends up over coruscant with the ship hurtling into the atmosphere

Logically, the opening battle doesn't make too much sense.

Why take the Supreme Chancellor (who apparently has been kidnapped) back to the Jedi centre of the galaxy (Coruscant)?

To me, it would make sense for the Chancellor to be kidnapped and taken into hiding and used as barter.

But anyway...

Maybe this battle takes place AS he is being kidnapped, or very shortly afterwards. They are kidnapping him, and trying to get away with him, but they are attacked by the Republic. This might explain why Obi-Wan and Anakin are the only Jedi in the battle. The kidnapping was, obviously, unexpected, and almost all of the Jedi are dispatched all over the galaxy. So only Obi and Ani were around to go up and try to rescue the Chancellor.

I doubt that the Repbulic allows Dooku to surround Coruscant with his armada.

I think Ternian gave the answer in the Act 1 thread:

Although near defeat, Count Dooku and his Confederacy of Independent Systems have masterminded the capture of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.

Tho the kidnapping is still a wishywashy situation it becomes quite clear that this attack is a pure act of desperation. The turnout of the war stands and falls with this offense which undoubtly started far away of Coruscant. Either they took the Republic by surprise or they just fought their way to the core worlds in many bloody battles.
This would present a good chance to show GG's warfare abilities.

It is still nutz to let Dooku AND GG board the same ship during such a suicide manouver.
