George Lucas tells a scooper for Cinescape that in the back of his noggin' he has an idea for another add-on to the "Star Wars" movie series : A prequel to "The Phantom Menace".

Nope, not the adventures of young Jar Jar Binks building an underwater haven - but the tales of the Jedi regaining control of the universe from the many Dark Lords some 88 years before Anakin Skywalker's bowl cut ever graced the earth.

Yoda - who was instrumental in the effort - would apparently have a headlining role.

Granted, Lucas, now 60, says he won't be captaining such a ship if it ever happens though. What's the bet FOX is going to lock him in a room, tie him to a chair and request he does anyway though?

Personally, I say go the sequel route - earring adorned Harrison Ford back as vest wearing Solo, whiny Skywalker training Jedi Tykes, C3P0 getting into trouble at Mardis Gras - much more interesting : and Hey, we've already got "Knights of the Old Republic" the video-game to serve as background info on the pre-Anakin days.

Meanwhile, "Revenge of the Sith" hogs the screen at every multiplex and is making quite a packet in doing so - it's now one of the biggest films ever. Yep, bypassed "Mannequin" about five minutes into it's first screening.

Seriously, if the TV series idea really happens, then I would hope it would be about the earlier days of the Jedi & Sith, not an inbetween or after the movies tale.

And VT is right. Fox has nothing to do with any Star Wars plans.

I don't think so. This tangent probably belongs in another topic, but I think "thousand years" or "millennium" are used by the Council as ballpark figures. My suspicion is that Yoda played a part in sending the Sith into exile in his early years. I think this is why he knew of the "only two" rule, as well as why he thought he'd be best qualified to take on Sidious.

What I have gathered from the KOTOR series is that the actually Sith race has been extinct for thousands of years. However, the religion, as we know is still alive and kicking.

That article is bullshit. He's already making another film in Europe somewhere. He's not romantically linked to Portman, I'm pretty certain she's with some other guy right now. Plus they make it seem like Hayden had to go on a rigorous weight-training regimen. Most of the muscle you see him with in ROTS is from practicing for the duel. He did do some weight-training. He's already lost most of his bulk.

Sadly, this is just the press hunting for a story. I wish it was true, but it's not. We do have the TV series to look forward too. That's about it.

There actually is one thing plausible about this.

Lucas has said that their cannot be another SW movie because the series is about Anakin, it starts with him as a child and ends with his death. If this movie shows how he is created (as to weather the Sith created him or not) it would make the story of Anakin more complete, because it would start with his birth and end with his death.

But that would only work if the movie was a decade or so before EP1.

Wow I think this could actually be a very good movie. Well, at least if it's NOT 88 years before TPM but a 1000 years before it. Then you could have Sith of all kind and well, the EU tells us Yoda didn't live by that time, but Lucas is known to don't keep to the EU. I mean, is it ever said in the MOVIES that Yoda is 900 years old? I say change his age so he is 1100 years old in ROTJ. Then it could be correct with what Ki-Adi-Mundi said in TPM: The Sith have been extinct for a millennium!
I think you could do very cool things with this movie. Great lightsaberbattles, not so advanced technology, planets we know very wel and showing how the prophecy came to being. About the planets: we could have more background on Dagobah and Yavin IV. I think this movie could be veeeeeeeery awesome. One thing: Don't call it Episode 0. Just Star Wars: The Sith War or something.

As we know this is not true... but the Jedi think it is. Which means there would be no confrontation between the Sith and the Jedi during this time... which would make this film incredibly dull.

Anyway... are you guys actually speaking under the assumption that this is true?

He definately doesn't say 'over'. But indeed if it will take place 800 years before TPM, than it's just a small plot error that Ki-Adi-Mundi says for a millenia.

But think about it! Wouldn't you find it cool if you saw Yoda and the cave on Dagobah and more explanation on that! And the Sith temples on Yavin IV !!!!! And the foundation of the Republic and Coruscant in it's early days.

I think this idea is brilliant! Now let's hope that it is really true that Lucas had this in mind .

Empire by far. Truthfully I find it very difficult to compare the two trilogies... they have such different styles, of which I prefer the originals'.

I agree that using an entire new cast would be much better than continuing along the same story these two trilogies have...

But Lucas has said countless times there will be no more films... that's not to say he's not allowed to go back on his word, which of course he's entitled to do. I just don't believe he wants to do any more Star Wars films... personally I'm more interested in these smaller projects he's been wanting to do. Wether or not he'll let other's delve into his world on the big screen is another story.

I don't really like the idea of going into Yoda's past. Honestly, I much preferred it when less was known about him... when he was just an eccentric green frog living in a swamp.

Seventh Star Wars film on the cards

Great news for Star Wars fans - a seventh blockbusting film is being planned for the series. Creator George Lucas has been secretly planning another movie and has already come up with the plot.

Lucas had previously said current movie Revenge of the Sith was to be the last. Now it appears he has changed his mind and is developing a prequel to The Phantom Menace.

A movie insider said: " George believes there are even more stories to tell.

"His latest idea would feature an almost all-new cast, apart from the Jedi master Yoda, who would be the hero of the new movie."


The film would be set 100 years before the current movies. Making Yoda, the tiny green Jedi master, the hero would be a popular move with Star Wars fans.

The character, voiced by Frank Oz, trained Luke Skywalker to defeat Darth Vader and is a cult hero among devotees.

Lucas does not need money after the success of the first six films and will try and take a back-seat throughout production.
