I don't understand the democracy quote...it's gibberish to me. And it sounds like something Anakin would say, not Padme...

T,

I already put these up.

And yes, the line is wrong.

Padme says…

“What is a democracy without it first serving all our lives?”

Aaah, that makes sense. So this would be her deciding to leave/disband the senate...

Or complaining to Anakin about what Palpatine is doing in not giving up his emergency powers.

The idea that despite Palpatine claiming he's doing all this to protect democracy and to preserve the Galactic Republic, what he's really doing is nothing more than creating a military dictatorship.

I guess Anakin disagrees. ;)

the mystery pic that they refer too on the site, did this ever get a clarification? maybe it was shot for ep3 so they did not have to return to caserta or another location "location"?

Thanks Hade!

This is really interesting because it refers to old SW scripts where certain core worlds pay the Chancellor for protection under the concept of an EMPIRE. Palpatine has obviously announced to the Senate that any further protection of systems must be done so under payment to the EMPIRE. PH stated that the Senate controls the wars that rage and that no doubt tips the balance of democracy. Palpatine is allowing the Senate to hand him an Empire. Fucking clever.

Finally...EpIII is getting interesting!

No problem.

I feel pretty confident that is what she says.

I worked on it for a bit and listened to it more times than any sane man would...or should.

I think you're right.

I think she's basically saying that this can no longer be viewed as a democracy. This is military rule by a dictator.

Palpatine is somehow able to convince others in the Senate that the Jedi Order (and certain Senators within the Republic) are against him, and that by extension, they are against the Republic as a whole.

The only thing I can't figure is how Organa covers his ass in all of this.

After Episode III, Mothma must go underground. Why not Bail?

He fools everybody until his adopted daughter gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar in ANH and Tarkin decides to make an example of him and his planet.

PH stated that the Senate runs the Clone Wars in EpIII - which is horrendous since we all know how corrupt the Senate is and Palpatine plays on the prejudices and passions of Senators.

From what I can gather from the Radio Dramas, the Clone Wars hit Alderaan and he had no choice but to accept Imperial help - especially since it appears in EpIII that he is the Chancellor's military advisor.

Basically, it sounds as though Tarkin takes over from Bail Organa. We know Bail eventually retires because Leia takes over which means her father has a WEALTH of Imperial Military knowledge.

Also Bail's actions in EpIII are undercover. When he is under attack on Coruscant he is in disguise. However, I think Tarkin takes over from Bail at the end of the EpIII as Military Advisor and Bail returns to outspoken Senator followed by Senator Leia.

EDIT:

On the flipside, in Amidala's apartment when the Loyalists meet, there is some angry words shared between Senators that Threepio gets caught up with. Bail may be trying to convince those Senators to join into an Empire...

Bail has to be something because his daughter is "Princess" Leia. Wouldn't that mean he has to be a King of something?Maybe King of Alderaan?

Edit: Nevermind. He's a memeber of the Royal House of Aalderaan, I've just been told.

And so Palps protects the homeworlds of those most loyal to him in the Senate.

Smart.

So Bail does it to protect his people, protect Alderaan.

I would like that better than Bail coming to realize that Palpatine is evil at some point during the last acts of the film.

I'd prefer if he was suspicious of Palpatine for some time.

Good. Tarkin needs to be in Episode III.

Oct, the quote is:

“What is a democracy without it first serving all our lives?”

Obviously Padme is refering to the Senate having control but not all systems having an equal say.

WTF :?

I've thought the same.

I think it may just be a few clone(storm)troopers on Coruscant.

If Bail gets them all, nothing gets back to Palpatine.

As for Mustafar, this is more difficult to explain away.

How would the Tantive IV go unrecognized?

Bail is in disguise when he is attacked on Coruscant.

The big question is: What are they all doing on Mustafar?

Anakin is on a mission
Obi Wan is on another mission to stop Anakin's mission
Padme stowed away on Obi Wan's ship to stop Anakin using her Padme charm

Yoda has been defeated by Palpatine and knows it's time to leave, Bail thinks so too, they escape together I guess (no other logical way for them to meet up).
Yoda knows where Obi is (he sent him on the mission) and needs to find out what's happening now, so the Tantive IV heads to Mustafar.
Maybe Bail is in disguise because he's harboring Yoda from Imperial Forces.

Dunno how R2-D2 and C-3P0 board the Tantive IV.
R2 accompanied Anakin presumably (hence his participation in the OSB) in the Clone Wars.
C-3P0 accompanied Padme presumably (hence his prescence at Padme's apartment) in the Clone Wars.
