It's mindblowing to finally hear what Lucas says about a movie many have waited all of their lives for. Sad in many ways, hehe.

I LOVE what he says about the reasoning why the Death Star took so long to build.

Just nice to hear Lucas set the record straight. "Ok, well this sequence, uh, always started out with Mace, uh, overpowering Palpatine."

Meanwhile, on the FX side, I always find ILM's visual effects interesting and I know this is an extremely FX-heavy film, but the commentary loses a lot of steam with Coleman and company. I don't know about you, but I want to hear from Lucas, not about digital face replacements in the Mace/Palpatine scene.

Listened to it while working and loved what Lucas had to say. To be honest, I haven't listened to the commentary for ep1 or 2 because of what people have said about the fx people wetting themselves at what a great job they all did and things like that. Sad to say, there is a lot of that going on again. I don't know why Lucas didn't decide to do seperate audio ala Lord of the Rings with Director, visual effects and actors all having seperate commentary, because you can tell that he was not with Rich or anyone else while he was being taped.

Second, listening to what Lucas has to say, things make a lot more sense and actually give a lot of "character building" that I felt was lacking in the movie.

All in all enjoyed the file, but I now hate the saying: "This is really a beautiful map painting..."

I am so fucking sick of people saying this. Google the phrase "a la LOTR" (or the non-abbreviation; use the quotes no matter what). This is almost as overused as the "raped my childhood" bullshit.

"Why couldn't Lucas use more models a la LOTR?"
"Why couldn't the SW DVD's have been extended a la LOTR?"
"Battle droids suck, Lucas should've used Orcs a la LOTR."

He don't get all fucking butt hurt over something that I said which I meant no offense too. All I was saying is that I would have liked to have heard just George, no one else. I was using LOTR as an example because I have listened to that. Get off your fucking high horse, take a xanix and chill. DP asked to post our thoughts and I did just that.

I could have used something else, but that was the first thing that came to me. Besides, I'm drunk.

Yeah, I'd say you speak the truth. But honestly, it took my last Google search to remind me that "LOTR" is an acronym for those Lord Of The Rings flicks.

Well regarding the actual commentary, a la the Revenge Of The Sith DVD, I gotta say Coleman has a knack for pointing out every digital double, like Obi-Wan and Anakin in the duel and R2-D2 on Polis Massa. In the end, that's cool and everything, but I still don't care. But maybe that's just me.

I couldn't agree more. I too am tired of this LOTR vs Star Wars shit.. LOTR is so over-hyped it's not even funny. Ya the movies are good but in my opinion they're just too damn long.

By the way DP thanks for putting up the audio commentary it was nice to listen to.

Fixed. Actually, I'm going to go ahead and take some of that back. It was slightly amusing to see how many times I just figured people/things were real but were in fact computer generated. And in a way scary. But even more, I don't see why I'm the least bit surprised by it.
