Makeup

Visual Effects

Sound Editing

Doesn't mean they'll get the nods, just means they're a finalist in a group TO get the nods.

A shame the art department got snubbed. If there's one aspect of the prequels I feel hasn't gotten its due it's the art direction and costume design. I can't think of one film this year that can match Sith's expertise and creativity in those categories.

King Dong is probably going to win FX because of the hard on people seem to have for PJ these days even though the film is a visual mess, so I'm not picturing Sith walking away with anything, not that it matters anyway.

NEW RULE: Best sound editing is not a category. Ditto sound mixing. Talkies have been around for 70 years, Hollywood you've nailed the sound thing! The only part that matters about movie sound is that it's really really loud. Otherwise I'll be able to think. And if I think, I'll realize that I'm a college educated adult watching a movie about a Spider-Man.

The rest of the VFX in King Kong may have been shoddy but there's no denying Kong himself is the single greatest visual effect in history... at least in my eyes. It will be well-deserved if it picks up the VFX award.

I too think it's a shame ROTS isn't nominated for costume design. Apart from possibly Narnia I can't think of anything else that has an equal level of quality in costumes than ROTS...

I'm really disappointed there was no costume nomination. :(

I agree. The costume design in all three prequels was oscar-worthy.

Fucking Peter Jackson. Always pooping on Star Wars' rightful VFX Oscar.

I'm not counting on ROTS picking up any awards. This way, I might be pleasantly surprized.

Peter Jackson directed The Matrix? Being nominated in that same catagory two years and winning one(at least so far) is hardly "pooping".

And it's not like Peter nominates himself. Blame the acadamy.

I only wish there were more than 3 VFX nominations allowed this year.

Yeah Yeah Yeah, you're right. Maybe it's just that LOTR winning 3 years in a row got to me.
