For those that don't want or can't watch the video but want a description; dude in the middle holding the papers behind Berg the victim reads a long, drawn-out Islamic spiel that takes up about 75% of the length of the video. Then about three quarters in he stops reading, nonchalantly hands his papers to the man on his left and pulls out a what looks like a machete from his back. He bends down toward Berg directly in front of him and begins to slice into his neck. Of course at this point Berg is screaming bloody murder because his head is being cut off with what is no doubt a blunt instrument. It's like fuck if you're going to cut my head of at least make it swift, but no these fuckers relish all this shit. The blood, the smell, the noise, the screams, etc.

So they're cutting into his neck, Berg is screaminng. Another Muslim freak puts his knee or something into Berg's back to hold him down. Basically 2 or 3 Muslim's hold Berg down while Master Chef tries to cut his head off. Meanwhile they're yelling their Islamic chants or whatever. "Allah is great" or something. Yeah he is great, but he doesn't give a mad fuck about you pissants that use his name while killing other people. Hello? You're cursing yourselves ya dumb fucks. Anyway, eventually Master Chef hacks through Bergs neck. It's apparent when you realize someone's head shouldn't be at that particular angle if it's still attached to their body. Berg's face is almost completely white at this point. After what seems like several minutes of screaming the guys is dead. So Master Chef holds up Berg's head like 'yay look what I got', straight up stealing the scene with O-Ren from Kill Bill. It's like Quentin Tarantino directed the whole fucking video. Ok Mr. Tarantino, I'm ready for my closeup.

You'll never see that Abe Lincoln beard on another person the same way again. It's like 'ha you've got an Abe Lincoln beard. And dude got his head cut the fuck off for that shit.'

It's a really fucked up way to die though. I wouldn't recommend it. Four out of five stars.

You probably have to realize what kind of society those people live in. They normally hack off body parts for crimes like stealing and shit. So for them to hack someones head off, especially an American's head while they have a major problem with American troops being in Iraq, is like ok fuck it, do it and get it over with. They may not enjoy it, but they probably think it'll get their message, what the hell that may be, across a lot clearer.

In the end they're all fuckin nuts though. You simply don't do that shit to another human being, especially to prove a point. Purely uncivilized. Ironically I was watching Mr. Rogers on TV while I was watching that shit on my computer. So apropos. On one had I had the kindness and warmth and on the other cold, muderous brutality. And Mr. Rogers's show was about pets and animals. Moral to the story: you cut off someone's head you're a fucking animal. Not human.

I do agree that just being an American doesn't make the act any worse. No human should be put through that, regardless of their nationality. I don't agree that the American society is just as fucked up as the Iraqi society. About the talk shows, it's all about "the poor are lazy, our enemies are godless and evil, you're a traitor if you question Bush/Iraqi War, ban porn, free thinking is pretentious!" Particularly callous and fascist is Rush Limbaugh calling the Abu Ghraib photos akin to fun-loving "frat hazing", thus condoning the violent behavior.

Do you actually listen to conservative talk shows or just what other people tell you about them? Occassionally a radio dumbass says something stupid/extreme but most of the time you'll find they are much more reasonable than you might think. In fact, most of the time when they're extreme, its in a context of a specific Democrats v. Republicans battle and doesn't have anything to do with the larger social issues at hand.

STILL, you don't even have to turn to conservative talk radio to see how violence/revenge-oriented Americans are. While you could be right, do you have any real evidence to support this claim? Have their been similar examples of Americans dragging bodies through streets and video taping head removals.

I don;t see how you can split hairs between disintegrating someone with a gun and sawing their head off. I see them both as equally disgusting shit. But I guess killing at a distance is somehow viewed as more humane than close combat, though both posed no threat to the attacker.

You're completely missing some key differences. Berg was a civilian, Berg was killed in a very humiliating, inhumane (yes there is such a thing as a humane kill) manner. It's quite different when a chopper guns down hostiles. I'd much rather die by being shot trying to take out the enemy than being kidnapped and having my head cut off on video so some fucker can use me as an example for his cause.

Regardless, folks, I didn;t post that link to "one-up" Nick Berg's, though I can see how it came out that way. I was going to post it anyway just because of the topic of video'd war deaths reminded me of it (I saw it for the first time right before the Berg thing broke), and then I saw your posts so I responded to those at the same time.

When I wrote "speaking of bloodthirsty", I meant more along the lines of "speaking of me talking about America's love of violence, here I am posting some footage of more people dying." Not being a devil's advocate, but a self-conscious hypocrite.

About those "pictures of naked prisoners piled on top of each other." You forget "pictures of guys getting anally raped by broomsticks" (sounds like a familiar US police pasttime), not to mention all the cruel shit that didn't get photographed, like people getting beatened to death.

No doubt Americans are capable of some sick shit, as all humans are. However, I also believe that Americans are more civilized than Iraqis. For example, these soldiers that committed those acts will be severely punished. The Iraqis committing their war crimes will not (unless the US gets a hold of them, but if the US did not have a presence there, they would go unpunished). Iraq is several centuries behind in their thought. That's not a racist or anti-islamic statement. They've just been royally fucked over by bad rulers and poverty.

I openly admit that I believe what we're doing in Iraq is right. I just hate when they make out money-grubbing assholes to be heroes.

I was watching the BBC news program earlier tonight and apparently there are LOTS of Americans lining up for jobs in Iraq. They're being wooed by the possibility of making a lot of money real fast. But of course there's also the possibility that they could either be killed by getting their car torched and having their burnt mutilated bodies dragged through the streets or getting their heads cut off like Berg. One older guy who worked for Halliburton told his wife that he'd only work there for a year and they'd be set for the rest of their lives. But an assassin's bullet took him out.

However, the primary focus of the story was the fact there are so many private security firms operating in Iraq that are protecting the hords of Americans working there. One complaint was that some of the people being hired as security may not be experienced and they could set off something big if they fuck up. They aren't governed by any laws so these private security people can basically do what they want.

So yeah, Berg ignored the US gov's advice to take the next plane and leave the country because he was looking for contract$. But there are also plenty of other Americans in his place still there doing the same $hit.
