Is it Legit?? Yes it is on the OS. Is it from EP3?? NO. The article says the first official look at ep3 vader is in the OT dvds.

The notion that I have 365 days left to go before I find out how this whole thing end (or how it BEGINS) is a bit too much to bare. I like how they're going to have Anakin Skywalker AS Vader in the last few scenes will be worth the price of admision, as long as we actually see him in action. But… since I won’t read too many spoilers I’ll have to wait.

Heh, beaten to it....yeah the article only says "a look at Vader" nothing specific about first look or anything.

It's a kinda weird shot of Vader, certainly nothing I've seen before. It's hard to tell really from the angle it's taken from-probably exactly the reason it's been used, to fuck with the sheep (myself very much included.)

I stand corrected, it does say “a look” and not “the first look”. Interesting. I still doubt it is from EP3.

The smaller version at the OS (belt and glove are less obscured):

Hm, this pic was definitely shown nowhere before.
The way he raises his hands... could be the force-destruction of that medical room ;)

Tony Montana wrote:He is obviously trying to grab Padme's titties.

But she has cleverly foiled him by concealing her breasts inside of her nipples.

I wish they wouldn't make Vader's gloves so big in these costumes. It makes his arms look skinny.

I wasn't supposed to reveal this until much later, but that's actually a shot from a new Star Wars Episode 3 music video in which Vader raps like Eminem. :what:

Good sleuthing. :)

I'm surprised that anybody thinks that ISN'T an Ep 3 image.

The article is about Episode III, why show an image that is anything but an image from Ep 3?

Where was the comment from around a year ago about Ep3 having a 1930's "Monster Movie" feel?

Fats saying "rising from the table" evokes a verrry Frankenstein feel, eh?

If that's the medical facility then they changed not only the way it looks but also the material with which it's made. The OS pic looks like a stone background while Ryan Church's painting appears to be a metallic constructed set. One looks more natural while the other looks industrial. And from what we've seen of Ryan Church's work on AOTC, they rarely if ever changed anything about it when seen in the movie.

Yes, it looks much more volcano-ish than the original balck-and-whte concept drawing I saw.

His arms do look awfully skinny though....and the background does have the look and feel of a futuristic medical facility.

Looks like old, banged up metal. copper or something.
You're right it could be metal, but as Zygster suggested it don't look too clean or medical-like.

...unless Sidious is continuing his trend of meeting(as he did Dooku in AOTC) or in this case creating apprentices in old abandoned places... entirely possible I suppose.

Definitely, and after seeing that 'FoxVideo' pic I think it's all connected and not to Ep 3.

Besides, like someone(Pabs?) said on the OS a while back, they're going to reveal Vader in a big way. Not this mind fuck small pic bullshit.

i did a quick comparison, i should get out more or do some work or something! i do have a girlfriend btw! Image

imho i think they are just using pictures of vader the majority have never seen before, to get u thinking its new pics of ep3 i would put money on this being from the same shoot as the fox video pic, probably from marketing for a previous VHS release or something, then again it could be ep3! :? can anyone see through the eyes ab=nd make out who it is ;)

One of the things that cheesed me off about the Vader suit in ANH were the gloves… the same “Quilted” leather product the rest of the suit was made from and the “Cuffs” of those gloves sagged too much. That was a “problem” that was easily corrected for The Empire Strikes Back.

The Gloves are a dead give-away that this is “Pre-ESB” and maybe “Pre-ANH”. Finally, since it’s on the official site that kinda ends the argument.

Today's Hyperspace Photorecepter titled "Dark Lord Rising" has the full view of the picture in question. Turns out it was an "uncommon publicity still for TESB".

Looks like this mystery has been solved.

See I think the average person might think this is Vader's movie and he rips shit up and does this and that. But I think just like "Attack of the Clones" and how the clones got busy at the very end, it will be the same with Vader. Except that he won't even really get that busy. Probably more like an extended cameo appearance. The OT is really Vader's playground.

that's what we all think and know, but the general public has been seeing and hearing Vader in the advertising for the first 2 and will undoubtedly be bombarded with his image for III. They've been expecting to see him for 2 movies now; when he only shows up for the last 5 minutes in III a LOT of people are going to be pissed.

Their loss, I guess, but with the way they have used Vader to market the films I can't really blame people for expecting him to be featured prominently as the Vader they remember.

that's true, but when he doesn't go on the killing rampage everyone expects after that and the movie ends with him just standing on a SD bridge, a lot of people will feel let down (unless, of course, they're like us and are expecting that going in).

I bet if you polled the general movie going public after the marketing starts up, most will expect Vader to feature prominently in at least the last half of the movie. No one will expect one "bad ass" scene and that's it until you go home and re-watch ANH.

(and I'm not saying its bad that he'll only be in for 5 minutes, I'm just saying the ads will most definitely mislead the unsuspecting public.)

yeah, and I can't really blame them for including his image in the marketing. He's such a universal figure at this point.

But the general public seems to be waiting for Vader to appear in these movies. When talking to my friends about the PT everyone always wants to know "when will Darth Vader finally be in the movies?". Its what everyone wants, and they've played up to it so far with the first teaser poster for TPM and the teaser trailer for AOTC (and there's probably more but I can't really remember). They'll play it up even more this time, with Vader probably appearing in the trailer and/or on the poster. At this point its going to be tough to get the point across that its the birth of Vader they're about to see and not the life of Vader.

Everyone will see Vader and immediately think "OT!!!" (well, not OT because they aren't fanbitches like us, but you know what I mean ;) ).
