Awesome! An October release is much sooner than I was expecting. Just around the corner, plus we got the IMAX release coming up too.

I wish they had included some deleted scenes on the DVD though. :(

Well, according to vcdquality an xvid encoded dvdrip is now available.

Also the movie hits IMAX today. The new footage is nothing to get excited about and contains no new Bot related scenes.

Here's a quick rundown of the new scenes from TFW2005:

We still do not know the fate of Barricade
We do not see any new footage of any battles

First additional Scene is Sam picking up his friend who climbed the tree in the park. He makes fun of sam's car about being yellow.

Second additional scene is at the police station when sam gets arrested and they make him watch a video about what drugs do to your brain. The video is amusing but nothing great

Third additional scene has the agent from Section 7 makes Sam take a test to see if he is lying inside the van by making him look into a device to see his pupils dialate.

Fourth additional scene is where the sector 7 agent tells the group about a room where he likes to meditate in (the part before they see the all spark cube)

Fifth additional scene is where one of the army guys goes into a pawn shop and tries to pawn his watch to get the shortwave radios

Finished downloading the dvdrip, it's a SL compressed down from a DL so the quality is not as crisp as the retail will look but it will do for the meantime.

Request any shots you want...

(small detail to mention is that the Devastator/Brawl naming error is still unchanged on the DVD.)

You know me, I'm all for the decapitation scene, as well as Iron Hide taking out brawl, the mountain dew machine and the gratuitous breat shots. Thanks in advance. *cackle*

You all owe it to yourselves to pick up the HD-DVD. Most of you are video/audio-philes so what I say should mean something. This is the best looking and sounding film I have ever seen in my life, by far. Even during non-action scenes I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor.

I checked it out on a 10 speaker audio running Dolby Plus, 1080p Panasonic plasma, Toshiba A20.

Every person on this forum needs to check it out. I'm buying a player for the sake of this film, which I bought on HD-DVD. Waiting for the A20 to drop in price when the A3 series launches. I'll be able to get one for 220 and it's worth every damn penny. Comes with 7 HD-DVDs including Bourne, 300 and 5 of your own picks.

If I had an HDTV and an HD-DVD player, I would pick it up on HD-DVD.

Picked it up last night in HD but didn't get a chance to sit down and watch. Maybe after work this afternoon. Can't wait.

My friend Dan is boycotting the movie since he has a Playstation 3.

He was going to buy an HD DVD player to add on to his 360, but he bought his 360 at launch and it only has the ability to display up to 1080i.

Fact:

If you have an HDTV that deinterlaces well (I have a Toshiba Regza HL167), 1080p will not be a noticeable improvement, especially when you're dealing with TVs 42 inches and below.

In fact, aside from two models, the AX2 and the A35, all HD-DVD players have not been impressive in 1080p. In most cases a good HDTV can do the job better than the player can, which eliminates the need for a 1080p player.

Hmm, I for one call bullshit as Bay has said he'l be leaking false information well before the film starts as well as during the shoot.

BUT

on the other hand, with this strike happening and the possibility of an actors strike next year, this kinda makes alot of sense. They can spend the time during the strike (if it happens) doing FX, Music & post-production which basically, is like 70% of a film like Transformers, plus I don't know if voice talent like Cullen, etc are bound by the actors strike? It'd be easy enough for them to just roll the voicework over a couple of days.

Well, I own the HD-DVD and Bay mentions a lot in the commentary/features that there were a TON of robot ideas that were put on hold for the sequels. As they mention this, they make particular reference to Soundwave. I'm sure by now that isn't 'news' per se, but it's interesting to know that there's some sort of direction that the filmmakers want to take this.

Oh, and the HD-DVD might be the best cinematic item I own. Picture/sound is fucking unbeliveable, not to mention the ultra cool H.U.D commentary that features PIP commentary and production notes pick it up.

The Blu-Ray version has been officially confirmed for a September 2nd release. It's extras seem to be exactly the same as the HD-DVD copy, which is unfortunate. I was hoping for the expanded IMAX version.
