The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Postby Ackbar » December 23rd 2007 5:14 am

Currently scheduled for a May 16, 2008 opening. Summary from ComingSoon.net:

[hr]The characters of C.S. Lewis's timeless fantasy come to life once again in this newest installment of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series, in which the Pevensie siblings are magically transported back from England to the world of Narnia, where a thrilling, perilous new adventure and an even greater test of their faith and courage awaits them.

One year after the incredible events of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia's rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne. With the help of the kindly dwarf, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep, a badger named Trufflehunter and a Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, the Narnians, led by the mighty knights Peter and Caspian, embark on a remarkable journey to find Aslan, rescue Narnia from Miraz's tyrannical hold, and restore magic and glory to the land.

thanks for those direct download links Ackbar

wow those kids have definitely done some growing up havent they? specially the kids playing Lucy and Edmund.

the adaptation looks good, from what i could recall. i gotta start re-reading it again though, i dont quite recall The White Witch ever making an appearance again (unlike what they're showing in the trailer) and AFAIK Prince Caspian was supposed to be a blonde boy not far from the kids' ages, this guy they have playing for Caspian looks much older and has dark hair (but then again they made Jadis into a blonde so i really shouldnt expect them respecting proper hair color :whateva: ).

The first one was a hit and miss - but I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the second installment - hopefully with the condensation of multiple books, the story will be meatier than the first.

Where did you hear that it was going to be a condensation of multiple books? And which ones?

From what I've read nowhere in the Prince Caspian book does it mention his hair color. It does however contain illustrations of him with black/dark hair.

From IMDB:
Although the character is not in the book, her appearance is in fact based upon a scene in the book.

In the chapter "Sorcery and Sudden Vengeance", Nikabrik,The Hag and The Werewolf suggest calling up the spirit of the White Witch to aid the Narnians in their perilous situation. However, Caspian rejects their idea. Although they never actually get to carry out their plan in the book, the film seems to show them getting at least part of the way into the summoning ritual, probably to increase the dramatic tension of the scene.

I just watched the first movie for the first time since the cinemas and I actually enjoyed it a lot better for some reason. Hopefully Prince Caspien will be just as good if not better.

I hope Narnia fucking Explodes and all the little creatures and shit fucking die.

God, If I see one more Sa-WEEEping camera shot of HORDES of digital armies about to clash, I'm gonna pull out my own heart and stab it. Note to film makers... Just because technology allows us to do a shot, it does not mean we HAVE to do that shot in every epic movie ( or constantly make what we think are epic movies) we make/see.

Please.

Well, what would you rather have in its place for an epic battle scene?

Braveheart should kill the Lion and torch the wardrobe. Then go and catch that freaking fawn and BBq him on an open spit.

Mmm, Tasty goodness.

Saw this one tonight. I can't make up my mind on wether or not I liked it. Which makes me think I must not have.

It wasn't as engaging or interesting as the first one. There were some cool moments, but I just didn't care wether or not things worked out in the end. I don't think it was the production crews fault, I think the story itself just didn't have the dramatic elements the first movie had. I didn't care if they all died, or if there was a happy ending. I'm not sure if I was supposed to. I dunno'.

I almost wish I would have waited for the DVD, because with 2 tickets, and refreshments, I spent almost $40. I guess if all the good movies are sold out, seeing this might be a decent way to kill a rainy afternoon. 2 thumbs, twiddling. Because it didn't suck, but I'm not sure I'd reccomend it either.

Saw this over the weekend and I thought it was good. A little drawn out, but there were some neat scenes and battles that kept it moving. The first battle scene, though not in the book actually, was well done I thought. I am a sucker for good movie music and I thought this movies soundtrack was spot on.
I also liked the Golden Compass because of shots that make it feel epic, sweeping battle shots for instance.

Saw the midnight showing last week. Really enjoyed it up until the ending song. WTF was that? Totally took me out of the moment. Otherwise I liked it better than Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I never felt as connected to Prince Caspian as I was for Wardrobe. It was on the brink the entire time, and it had its moments, but it just wasn't emotionally there for me, I'll have to see it again.

My kids however, loved it.
