Comparisons like that genuinely offend me. I'd be just as offended if it were Bill Clinton or some other democrat. I don't think this country has ever had a president that even remotely deserves a comparison to Hitler.

I'm really offended that anyone would compare a political candidate in the U.S. to an alleged fundamentalist/terrorist. No one in the American electorate would ever advocate killing people in a foreign land for illogical beliefs or suppositions.

Oh, wait a minute.

so what does everyone think of the election in November? we've either got more of the same with McCain/Bush 3.0 or "change" with a rookie green horn with no experience.

I'm actually at a loss. Damned if you do sort of thing.

Seriously, if McCain wants to spread bullshit propaganda and lies, the youtube audience is DEFINATELY not the target audience to fall for that shit. Go advertise during Nascar and Indy races or at a monster truck rally, THOSE are the morons that buy into this garbage. McCain is senile and has erectile dysfunction, he can go be president of his retirement community in Boca Raton.

say what you want about his politics, but you REALLY should respect the man. He was tortured for six years for defending his country. His father AND grandfather were Admirals and he has served this coutry with distinction. He might not be right for president, but give the man some cred.

The thing about McCain and his prisoner of war history is that he uses the "war card" whenever he is in trouble one too many times.

The commercial is so over the top it's awesome. The only negative aspect is McCain himself. In the ending endorsement scene McCain is shown looking not so good, showing the aging Senator image his opponents are promoting.

Another hilarious aspect of that video is the comments section The youtube's comments section is all sorts of unintentional hilarity. Here we have the Barry's supporter's who are the "youtube audience" ridiculing the Republican's NASCAR base.

This is my issue with discussing politics on the internet or in general:

The Repub's say the Democrats is the party of the ghetto and homosexuals. The Dems say the Republicans are the party of rednecks and christian extremists.

I will admit I'm republican but I've gotten to the point though where I just give all of politics the finger and say, "FUCK YOU" to every thing. I try to avoid politics like a plague. If you think the mud slinging is bad now between the candidates wait until we get closer to November then shit will really hit the fan.

Why?

I don't honor sacrifice. And neither does nature. The world giggles at your pain.

But a lot of us see someone elses pain or sacrifice as a legitimate testimonial to thier rightousness. And I find that mathematically absurd. Basically, I feel bad for you Johnny, but I still don't give a fuck what you think. And I could give a shit about his Dad and Grandpappy too. My Grandfather was the smartest guy I ever met. Do you respect me more now? Yeah, me neither. What is the reasoning behind me needing to give a shit that he and his family are good at taking orders? Why does a genetic history for being a good follower or climbing that ladder to be "follower in charge" miraculously qualify a person for an extra helping of respect? Is a soldier more valuable than a citizen? If so, why? Because I don't get it. I didn't tell them to enlist, or force them to go out and enforce someone elses political agenda from the business end of a rifle. And if someone else did force (draft) them into it, that's a double dose of sucktitude, but still doesn't make them more respectable to me.

Belive it or not, I had a much longer rant here. But who wants to read my antiestablishmentarianistical bullshit? Hell, I don't even want to type it out, let alone read it. But to summerize, I make shit money whenever there is a Nazi, er, Republican in the White House. I think the Democrats are a bunch of commies, but I seem to make more money when one of them is in office. So I'm voting for the itallian. Both parties are fucked, and Ron Paul has a 0% chance, so for me it all comes down to the wallet this year. And mine got stolen.

there are things more important in life than money. It doesn't make you happy and it doesn't solve problems. Look at the public school system, aids, and the war on drugs if think otherwise. Those things are given a SHIT load of money to conquer or control and they're worse than ever.

Look, I'm not telling you who to vote for. You have the freedom to vote just because you like their sock color. It doesn't matter to me. My point was that the man should be separated from the politics.

RESPECT is earned. It comes from being honorable. I believe serving in the armed forces and protecting your country and family are one of the most honorable things a person can do. We are not animals, we are above them supposedly. We have concepts like self sacrifice which the animal kingdom hasn't figured out yet. Animals live by survival of the fittest. Sometimes, the good of the many, outweighs the good of the few, or the one. or so ways Spock anyways.

And that to me means respect should be given for protecting your whiney fat ass so you can sit there and type in your mighty chair instead of going out and picking rice in shit fields all day. Because your country was never taken over by the commies. Because you had brave men to fight in your place. Men that were tortured for six years and who can't even raise their arms anymore from being dislocated for so long.

RESPECT dammit is the least you can do.

Sure, there are things that are more important than money. Unfortunately, I can't afford any of them. :monocle:

But seriously. Dude, if you think it's possible that the North Vietnamese had the military capability or actual intention of attempting a take over of the United States, I simply must know who your fucking drug dealer is. Believe that shit if you want to, I'm not falling for it. If you really think we were in danger of all becoming commie rice farmers, then you have been mind-fucked worse than I thought. That scam is so old it farts dust. Smedley Butler said it better than I ever could in his book. And allthough it's from the 30's, I think it's still quite a valid viewpoint considering the historical record since. And he was a highly decorated Marine combat veteran, so maybe he is worthy of your attention.

As far as my whiney fat ass is concerned, at least I don't waste my time regurgitating a tired cliche' I picked out of a Lee Greenwood song.

I see that you are a cold blooded bastard that holds nothing in high esteem. which animal did you learn this trait from?

And Communism/Socialism/Marxism has been an enemy of the US for 100 years. It wasn't just the North Vietnamese.

My point that you missed in your shit filled diatribe is there are men in this country that are owed respect! You might not believe in their politics, their choice in women, the car they drive or the state they're from, BUT, the things they have done in their lives should earn them a few points in your book. McCain is one of these people. Living heroes. Is he getting my vote? Nope. Neither is obama.

I know you think you're witty and full of little internet comebacks but one of these days you'll grow up and see the REAL world around you. It's not ALL about PS3's and who's tit's you'd like to fuck. Good men died to give you that freedom. Probably even some in your own family. But who gives a fuck, right? Piss on them huh? Whatever they believed in was misplaced and ignorant. Fools believing in a lie from rich puppetmaster white men. Whatever they fought for was shit and not worth their time.

Really, I'd like to know what you think is worth a damn in this world? What is worth persuing? And also, what's so HARD about giving a man some respect? It's something as easy as acknowleding that he's a pretty good person. Are they really that rare in this world?? Come on, lets hear it.

Well I can say for certain, somebody here has a little bit of a crush on John McCain. You might not vote for him, but apparently you want to blow him if what I posted got your panties in such a bunch.

I had to go back and re-read what I wrote, just in case I said something that might have inspired such a knee-jerk rhetoric laden response. I'm not sure where you got all bent out of shape, so I will try to formulate a witty internet comeback here. For starters, I'm not one of those people who shouts baby-killer at veterans, allthough you seem to think I am. And as far as growing up is concerned, I'm allready an old geezer, so simmer down whippersnapper. I'm going to hide half of it though, because apparently I have to spell it all out for you in ridiculous fucking detail this time so you can follow along.

Should I start a thread entitled "TroyObliX hates America and all other good things too"?
[spoil]
The point I'm making, that you folks are apparently missing, is that joining the military is not, in and of itself, equal to "fighting for your country".
Can it be done from there? Certainly.
Has it been done from there? Absolutely.
And for those who do, they have my deepest thanks.
But I still don't respect them any more than anyone else.
Because I was raised to be polite and respectful to all strangers, until they prove they don't deserve it.
Unless jokes are to be made. Then, nothing is sacred.
Do military people get a free pass on that? Nope, sorry.
Should people not make jokes about them or critically analyze them, particularly a candidate for president who has pushed himself out into that spotlight, just because they joined the military?
That would be downright cowardly.[/spoil]

Since we are talking about McCain, his military service, the fact that he fought in Vietnam and not the entire history of US/communist relations here (which you apparently have no understanding of given your 100 year estimate), what about your living hero status for Johnny?
[spoil] Do I think that McCain was one of the people who did in fact "fight for his country" while serving in the military? No, I sure don't.
I'm sure he thought he was, at the time. I'm sure that by your definition he was.
But any basic understanding of that fucked up conflict will make it obvious that none of it had to do with "fighting for our country".
How?

Because we lost, motherfucker.

And we still don't live in a communist country.
If we had never fought there? We still wouldn't be living in a communist country, and there would be 30,000+ more living brave Amercians to pay attention to the actual threats around us.
By allowing themselves to be used as political puppets and enforcers of bad policy, soldiers are doing none of us a favor.
I can still empathize with and appreciate the losses of veterans of that conflict.
But I'm not going to delude myself and think for a moment that because I feel bad for them, that they fought for our country. Because they didn't.
[/spoil]

Am I anti-military?
[spoil]Plenty of people in the military have opposed the corrupt and imperialistic, occasionally unconstitutional and illegal practices of our government over the years. Plenty of them have also done honorable and respectful things, even while following orders.
But is because someone elisted and perhaps seen combat and maybe even been wounded a direct pass on all criticism from there on out?
Fuck no, and fuck you for suggesting it.
Respect? I'm a complete gentleman to everyone I meet until it becomes unwarranted.
In fact, considering this is the "stupid shit" forum, I had considered posting far more disrespectful shit, but didn't, out of (ahem')
respect. [/spoil]

Do I want to keep going?
[spoil]Making blanket assesments about groups of people, be it a good assesment or a bad assesment, given very few factors, is not a wise move.
I think what we may be seeing here is bearvomits latent racism, turned completely inside out, transformed into blind adoration for anyone who has ever enlisted.
Maybe you find it "honorable" to take the easy way of just labelling people good or bad because of single indicators, be they skin color or military history.
But you shouldn't expect the rest of us to take so little care in examining the world around us.
I'm not calling you a racist here, mind you, because you have steered clear of that lately.
But it's there.
You have a history of making blanket statements about people.
Except this time it's socially acceptable.
Because you and the "love it or leave it" crowd are too stupid to realize when you shouldn't even be taking part in the debate.
100 year history of communist enemies?
You do know that the Soviets were our allies until the former allies chopped up Berlin, right?
That's just over 60 years ago.
And we have been so far up Communist China's ass since the 90's and especially now, we can see it's lunch.
And it's lunch was our economy. But money isn't important, right?
You might have noticed that if you hadn't been crying red white and blue tears.
Dont they have a library in fantasyland?[/spoil]

I'll say this, I hope it never happens. But if the Chinese or anyone else ever invades the US, every good American is going to be labled as an insurgent, or a terrorist. And they might die, fighting for thier country. Without ever joining the military. I hope I don't see the day that happens though. Because if I do, you'll might as well start calling me Osamablix bin Troyden.

The military (any branch of it) isn't for every one. Not everyone can serve. I can't serve because of my heart condition and even if I couldn't I am not sure I would be able to handle the stress of just boot camp alone.

my grandfather got dysentery in Guadalcanal and fell in his sargeants foxhole and shit all over it. Although I was never a prisoner of war I did run away from day care when I was very young and therefore had to spend the rest of the day in time out. I demand some respect, and a cushy job where I go to washington a few days a month and get terrific healthcare, preferential treatment, bribes and kickbacks, and great seats in any restaurant.
