You're right about the forced gags vs. the genuinely funny.

As for the duel in Episode III, I didn't have a problem with the background Mustafarians and droids passing by. They have a brief presence in maybe two or three shots. This clearly wasn't a bid deal.

As far as the droid/Mustafar workers complaint, yeah, it's not the end of the world to be sure, but it was totally unnecessary. And you know brainstorming probably went into it.

What did irk me was the lack of dialogue and Anakin's horrible line about the Jedi being evil. It also gets a bit too over the top from Spielberg's influence when the big arm collapses. Suddenly everything looks fake and Anakin turns superhuman to a degree that's a bit disproportionate to the rest of the movies. But I digress.

Truth be told, Anakin's whole turn is horrible. I can't agree about superhuman Anakin though. He seemed very ordinary to me. It didn't seem hard for Obi-Wan to take him out. I can't see what Palpatine saw in him. And I don't know what everyone was afraid of. Lucas completely neutered the Anakin Skywalker character. At any point in the PT he’s either whining, whipped, weak, dumb, or all of the above.

The understatement of the century. Great evil is always a step ahead. No one ever realizes it could happen until it happens, and when it does happen, it's always too late and with great denial. Historically, that's how a whole lot has gone down. Anakin's turn reflects this problem.

That's precisely the point. If you're looking for a hero with more independent and maverick tutelage, more comfortable in their role as a Force-wielder, displaying a more stoic character, with great conviction and loyalty - Vader is your man. Or Luke, if you like a little learnin' from past mistakes and a willingness to redeem those who've been maligned by deception and lies. Anyway, Anakin's such a tool, yeah?

However, regardless of their ultimate fate, any hero needs to be portrayed as a hero, and there are plenty of moments strewn throughout the PT which exemplify heroism in Anakin, which I'm sure you've overlooked in your sweeping attack on the filmmaker - er, I mean - story content. And if you missed any of those, just watch this new Clone Wars series - it's turning out to be quite a fitting addendum to the PT.

I think you need to go back and watch the PT again. As for the Clone Wars movie, well, it sucked. I can't believe I actually paid to see it. And not only did it portray Anakin as a moron yet again, it also diminishes what were supposedly the greatest star pilot skills in the galaxy.

I'd say he's pretty strong. It's just that the Order is preventing him from reaching his full potential (Whatever that means. I'm not a Force-wielder.). He's always whining about being "held back" and kept from maturing his skills ("I'm ready for the trials.").

Not on the battlefield! But certainly Anakin's view of the Force wasn't complete without a certain Sith to tell him all about the other side. Boy, did that change things!
