FYI this could be a long night (or day for those of you downunder). Given that the episode was not only a widely advertised to be broadcast today it could be awhile.

Cartoon Palace usually gets up episodes (albeit in a lower quality) pretty fast and the newest isn't even up there yet.

Here is a commentary clip to help tide us over: starwars.com

I was flipping between the show and the World Series last night and missed some segments. So, I'm going to reserve my final judgment until after I see the full episode. I find it amusing that every time Boil and Wexler show up, there is an homage to Aliens inserted into the story.

I have searched all over the internet and couldn't find this episode. I have searched everywhere. I did download a fake torrent that's floating around there.
I should have known because the time it popped up was right when it was airing Wednesday... Oh well, it airs again in about 3 hours.

There's a pretty good interview with Dave Filoni at Fan Days III over at the Force Cast, no spoilers and a lot of fun: The Force Cast With Dave Filoni

Can't wait for this one to finally drop somewhere!

My extensive bounty hunt continues. So far I found some French subtitles for this episode, but no episode itself. When someone puts out a fake torrent with maleware it seems like people get very wary of the file after that.
SW dot com will have the episode up eventually and I have a way to extract the file if they do and repost it. I am certain it will show up soon. We're not the only ones puzzling about it airing twice and no where to be found...

Patience.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that this was the most intense, action-packed, brutal episode yet. So many great shots, so many great moments. Tight direction and extremely entertaining.

It's up there with my favourites and might even top the list. Bravo.

wholeheartedly agree. Fantastic episode, top to bottom. IMO that was better than the first battle of geonosis in AOTC, the direction was better, some amazing camea work in there, absolutely loved the part where the camera does a flyby of 12+ gunships then pulls back into one of them just as it explodes.

This episode was THE best so far in terms of action. I love all the references to WW2: Gunship landing (D-day), troop miss drops (101st, 82nd airborne), Battle of the Bulge (Anakin and Obi holding out), and Climbing Pointe Du Hoc (Anakin and Ahsoka climbing up the mountain).

It was cool to see the Geonosians fight since in AOTC, they were hiding because of Poggle. And for once, we got a REAL planetary invasion (a nice amount of Republic Star Destroyers) unlike the invasion of Ryloth with only 3 ships and a 1 full squadron of fighters. It was cool to see Waxer and Boil show up and I loved their little chat they had when they were retrieving Obi.

Anyone else caught the mistake from the admiral calling Commander Jet a captain? If you guys watch any episode closely, there are a ton of screw ups.

It's absolutely a better take than the first Geonosis battle.

Episodes like make me wish we had this type of action/direction in the prequels. I love how the Geonosians are portrayed as horrific creatures here. They grab soldiers and fly away, making us think of all the horrific things they could be doing to the Clones. It's very reminiscent of Starship Troopers. This element of horror/danger/fear/brutality should have been in the prequels more ofen, especially considering this locale was part of AOTC.

This episode encapsulated the tone most people probably wanted from the PT. It had it's swashbuckling and adventure, but also darkness and brutality.

This. You summarize my thoughts perfectly. This episode was easily the best action we've seen since the OT ... and one could even make an argument that this was better than even the ROTJ battle. Either way, though, this episode really was far and away better than anything in the PT, and is exactly what the PT *should* have been.

What's funny about that is that according to Filoni's commentary, this appears to be one of the episodes with the most direct involvement by Lucas. He rejected the first version of the episode and had the production team pretty much redo the whole thing using his famous WWII real and movie footage clips to edit the final version. I suspect this was GL's attempt to re-edit/remake the Battle of Geonosis.

Wow, that was great! I usually don't like to lament what could have been in the Prequels because it's ultimately pointless but that's exactly what I was hoping and expecting to see from the Geonosis battle before AOTC came out. An all out invasion with a great mix of aerial dog-fighting, ground shootouts and everything in between. It was cool to see the Geonosians get most of the combat instead of droids for once. The Separatists could use some more flesh and blood troops to keep things fresh and not see just clones vs. droids all the time. I also liked the little humor bit with Ki-Adi and Anakin at the end.

I think this may be my favorite episode of the entire series so far. If that was George's attempt at at doing a retake of the Geonosis battle, I say excellent job.

I saw that, and it stands as a great example of how effective he can be when he keeps things simple and goes back to his roots. ANH's battles were essentially cut with WW2 footage. This episode captured the heart of SW. What made SW battles in the OT so great is that they always felt like something that could be real - there was a believability to all of it because it was based on WW2, or Vietnam and/or the locales were earthly environments. GL based enemies and heroes on earthly counterparts - the Nazis, the Soviets...and in this case, the Geonosians firing machine guns from a nest like the Japanese (with slanted eyes and all).

What's funny is that this battle didn't feel heavy on CGI even though the show is done in CG. I know that sounds weird, but it was shot in a way that I feel could have been pulled off in the 1980s. It was very personal, yet massive in scale.

It seemed to me everyone loved the original Geonosis battle when AOTC was released. Personally the only thing I disliked about it was how poorly the Jedi were composited in the CGI footage. But I guess that's Lucas' style of directing - never plan ahead the combining of real and CGI.

Anyway, in this episode (and the majority of the series) everything fits together perfectly when it comes to visuals.

Big ups for the downloads!!! Is there a free MKV converter out there with no limitations (aka -3 minutes or 30% nonsense)? convert to AVI. I've tried the "super" software, but the sound is always off no matter what setting. Thanks

Also, if you install the klite codec pack, you can play mkv in media player, or you can use the mediaplayer classic program as well.

Definitely a good episode with plenty of action. Good to see not just droids as enemies for the Clones to attack this time, seeing tin cans cut up was beginning to be all they did fight.

10/10 and thanks to those that seeded this episode. ;)
