Synopsis: After the Republic conquers an Umbaran airbase, General Krell orders Rex and his men on towards the heavily fortified capital. Realizing there's a better plan, several clone troopers disobey orders to carry out a rogue, covert operation.

I see from checking out the sw.com link that they don't know the taglines for TCW episodes. I know they don't make the episodes in the same building as the official website, but you'd think that as they're all part of Lucasfilm... Given what's happened with sw.com in recent months, I can't say this actually surprises me.

Thanks for the upload, this arc is getting better with each episode. Still a little heavy-handed in the characterisation of Krell (although I could see more of his logic, however misguided, in this episode), and a little naive in terms of troopers openly talking about treason while wearing their helmets (ie full of recording/transmitting equpiment). But in essence and execution, I fucking love this arc.

Seriously, again, thank you for upping this.

Regarding Fives’ strategy, I loved the callback to the TPM. Also, nice cue of the Force Theme when he was explaining Anakin’s heroics over Naboo.

Three episodes in and I've finally figured out that Mutiny on the Bounty and The Caine Mutiny are both significant inspirations. With those two stories, the behavior of a stringent commander becomes increasingly more baffling and intolerable to the crew as the plot progresses.

Having Fives acknowledge Krell’s aberration from the stereotypical Jedi template was a nice bit of self-awareness on the writers’ part. They even gave Obi-wan a short WTF moment during his correspondence with The General.

At the premiere event for season 4, Filoni called the Umbara arc “challenging.” I would use that word and "engaging." Since the clones are successfully coming across as sympathetic individuals, it’s not difficult to feel their frustration and root for their survival.

Whoa! That's gonna be one hell of an episode!

The thought of a Jedi willfully executing anyone, let alone comrades is insane. As much as the writers are trying to make Krell feel like a completely different kind of Jedi, it goes against everything the Jedi stand for to even call him one.

Great episode but I still believe Krell must have an ulterior motive or the writers have taken too much liberty with the mythology. Fioni hinted as much that this arc was challenging to produce.

Another fantastic episode. Once again, another nice little nod to the OT with the awkward conversation between the clone & General (Han in the detention block - A New Hope), my 11 year old noted it straight away.

Can’t help thinking that Krell is goanna go out big style next episode. Don’t think he’s a Sith, I just think he’s hardcore on exact detail & does things to the letter. He certainly doesn’t like the clones though, that’s for sure.

Totally agree with The_Somnambulist - the space battle was awesome.

I hope Krell does get it this week ... would be nice to see Ventress or Dooku or both in a lightsaber battle. Just my own personal oppinion, not everyone will agree, but, this should have been made into a full feature movie for release in the cinema ... I would have paid to go see it for sure.

I'm really enjoying this arc, but I'm a bit worried the finale won't live up to the build up, at least storywise. They will probably never explain why Krell is the way he is other than the war affecting him etc. Or they might give a few sappy flashbacks from his unpleasant youth like with Ventress.

It would be cool if he ended up having a physical confrontation with either Rex or Anakin though.

Agreed with everyone great story arc this time out.

Krell is playing the part of an extreme authority figure beautifully. The thing is I have to keep reminding myself he's actually a Jedi. So that aspect of things I'm hoping is explained a bit more. But if they don't give more of an explanation I'll just assume this is an odd-ball Jedi who went his own way and was at the end of his rope.

Just noticed the new preview guide to Carnage of Krell on the official site. His eyes look like sith eyes (Darth Maul or Anakins). Anyone eles notice/confirm this?

It’s not Sith eyes. It’s just the play of the yellow tinted light on Krell’s light brown pupils.

I'm going to guess that the official byline on Krell is that he’s a once noble Jedi who has been warped by the Clone Wars. Unbeknownst to himself, Krell is on his way to become lost Jedi number 21.

To the show's credit, this arc has generated a lot of buzz. As such, I guess the OS’s decision to be cheap and stop filming commentary videos was a good one. If the commentary videos still appeared, it would give Filoni a chance to speak to the thought process behind the character.





If the next episode doesn’t completely fill in the blank for Krell, we should get answers by the end of the year. Filoni usually does a few interviews around the halfway point of the season.
