Enter Original Trilogy Cast

Carrie Fisher just sunk her breasts into the gossip, telling TMZ that she wants to be in Episode VII.

I don't think she needs more than a cameo, if anything. It would be like Marion Ravenwood in Indy 4 all over again, which I thought came off terribly. Jesus, Indy 4 was truly worse than the worst parts of the prequels combined.

Mark is by far the most relevant for Episode VII and MAYBE you sneak Harrison / Carrie in a scene where they speak to Luke via hologram.

I must admit, it would be a pretty magical moment for all of them to share the screen one last time. I'm not that keen on the hologram idea... Hmmm it's another tough one, I think it's just finding that balance for me - having those old cast members in there

then finding a narrative reason to drop them early on. Killing them off would seem like a massive cop out to me too... But I must admit, that would be a big source of motivation for Luke from a plotting POV.

I know it is all speculation at this point still, but if they do bring back the original cast in some way, how it is handled could make or break this for me.

Doesn't take a Jedi mind trick to see that she's being sarcastic.

See, I'm hoping they think bigger.

Harrison and Fisher could be worked into limited roles in a decent script. If it were me though, I'd kill them within the first half hour. I'd take that 1970's love triangle vibe and introduce it to a post 9/11 world. One like ours, where far too many in the audience have seen those they care about die.

The first film should firmly establish the trilogy's main obstacle though. I always felt that as the PT is, and as it was written, it wastes way too much time getting into the Clone War, and then it seems to last a brief amount of time compared to the set-up with the last half of ROTS being mostly about Anakin post-Clone War.

As far as actors, I haven't heard his name mentioned so I'm throwing it out there: Ray effing Park.

He was on 'Heroes' in the final, slightly redemptory season, and I for one enjoyed his performance. Plus, a really brilliant physical performance trumps a million bucks in CG on most occasions in my mind.

Holy shit! Bad day? :furry: :vflamethrower: :vfuckoff:
She may be a cynic but you known she would do it for the paycheck.

I do feel that Mark is the only one who has a place in the new story. Leia and Han can be retired on the other side of the galaxy.

Drop a starship on them while they are cuddling on the veranda. Make Luke powerless to stop it. Make it matter, but use them to tie it together in a breif, yet storywise-meaningful way. Some somber interlude or hologram with Leia's theme playing and then they're out, it would just seem gratuitous and uninspired.

Also, I don't see why one couldn't think of Hamill as alive and relevant through the whole thing. A new take on the old sage role. Similar, but not identical to Kenobi's arc.

I really doubt we're going to see Luke, Leia or Han die in the next film. Of the three, the most likely candidate is obviously Luke but I have a feeling they're going to save his noble end for either the second or third film.

But Leia was much more important to Star Wars than Marion to the Indy franchise. With her being a scion of the force dynasty, there's more to discover there. She could also be in a Mon Mothma role with a few Jedi skills as a bonus. Heck, maybe a new chancellor of the new galactic republic.

Jesus, Indy 4 was truly worse than the worst parts of the prequels combined.

I'm more charitable. I think I prefer it to TOD.

Luke should be there. It'll be great to see the conclusion of his journey that began so many years ago.

A female director - that's interesting.

Carrie Fisher confirms her involvement in the upcoming Sequel Trilogy.

For logistical purposes, a directing decision needs to be made by the end of the year. He or she would then have a hand in casting. (Well, other than Billy Dee who's probably Supreme Chancellor Calrissian).

BTW, a bearded (!) McGregor recently said that he's down for some more Star Wars. Since Lucas has changed the rules with Force Ghosts, there's no reason why Obi-wan can't be included. (Luke: "Ben, you look younger." / Obi-wan: "Why should Anakin have all the fun?")

Sam Jackson - as you might expect - wants in Episode VII.

I like Sam. I don't think he has any place in this trilogy. Not as a ghost, not anything.

I wouldn't mind to see him in some old hologram.

You wanted an example of "light, action-adventure" movie, so I gave you one. Whether you like it or not is another story.
I can't watch Close Encounters or ET nowadays either.

Doesn't really qualify as "news" but Drew Struzan has been approached for art duties on Episode VII.

Struzan's work can be a little prosaic for me. I'd rather have Tom Jung back. Now this is a Star Wars poster:
