New Here!

Awsome Stuff!
Def and EP. IV feel.

Judging from the different Pics i wonder if it is Anakin's AOTC Saber or Anakin/Luke's ROTS/ANH Saber.

I'm also thinking they may let Hamil shine as a dark character since he voiced Darth Bane in the Clone Wars and did so well with the joker.

It's almost as if his face will have no emotion and it will showcase his voice (I.E. Voice acting over his acting skills).

Maybe Luke has split personalities.

Hopefully in ep. 8-9 we'll see Ahsoka "appear from the other side of the galaxy ala Gary Kurtz quote and will serve as the actual other hope". - The father's student saves/heals his fallen Son.

MF DP is the man, took me years to get registered here. So happy to be able to good show.

these are fantastic, very much in the world I want to see. Story is for another day but visually unbelievable.
whom ever came up with the Downed AT-AT as a home deserves a raise! that is far more than I thought from descriptions.

again thank you

now THIS is podracing! Awesome DP! other sites just tease and write descriptions.... MF swings for the fences and always will!

now onto the pics:

Not sure I like the new Apple / R2 unit.
Fallen AT-AT shelter is brilliant
The Graverobber guy is NOT Luke
Love the throneroom inside the cave.

Also love the overall look of these. It's a "used" and lived in world again! None of this shiny green screen, polished Prequel crap we ended up with. The new art department on this is gorgeous!

I love this image... the fact that there's another at-at, a scout walkers head & the downed tie fighter all partially buried in the sand makes me think it might be an old abandoned Imperial garrison. This movie is gonna blow the socks off anything we've seen previous!

Just out of interest, here's a reminder of Mollo's original sketch for a character called Montross, on the right:

    Image

The name, at various times during the genesis of ANH, referred to the science officer on a pirate ship, an Imperial bureaucrat, and then one of Jabba's right-hand men...

It will be interesting to see how the name is recycled here. I don't reckon Montross is our "grave-robber", I reckon he's more of a link to the underworld our heroes go to for info.

As if he's somehow linked the the people who actually do the cybernetic parts - or went to the same people/planet as the grave-robber did for his parts - and can lead our heroes to them... If you look at him, he's more of a sympathetic, down-and-out sort of character. Slumped at a bar with a drink.

And that sketch of him passing a document or pass of some kind across the table. Or maybe he's gambling. Either way, it's a classic "informant/underworld connection" type pose. He doesn't look "evil" like the grave-robber dude.

Concept art of Imperial Han and cyborg Chewie + rumors of Luke being the new villain, makes it seem like the lines are blurring.

The old quote by Lucas that the Sequels would be more abstract and deal with moral choices made by the new generation etc. makes sense. It definitely could be that after decades of fighting, the heros become the villains. In the Prequels, the public handed away their power to a tyrant. In the Sequels, the public became the tyrants?

It's becoming as convoluted as a Metal Gear game.

All the artwork looks great. The Grave-Robber stuff, the AT-AT shelter and the Millennium Falcon parked in front of the gothic looking castle I'd pick as my top favorites.

It's beautiful, indeed. I now wonder about the identity of the artists. Also, are these images that were approved by Lucas prior to the Disney sale or have these been developed under Abrams’ guidance?

Via Antiqua wrote:Judging from the different Pics i wonder if it is Anakin's AOTC Saber or Anakin/Luke's ROTS/ANH Saber.

Anakin’s AOTC saber got bifurcated in a droid factory. So, I doubt that's the answer. It looks a bit like the ROTS/ANH saber, but not spot-on.

It’s possible that it’s not a Skywalker hilt, but one that's mistakenly identified as being either Anakin's or Luke’s.

bearvomit wrote:The Graverobber guy is NOT Luke

I have to agree. Presumably, the artist would have made the likeness resemble Hamill if the character is in fact Luke.

It might be my imagination, but the jawline has a similarity to Ian McDirmind’s. (Consequently, Palpatine’s first name has recently been confirmed as Sheev.)

ImageImage

Who knows if the identity of the cyborg will be revealed in this episode or a later one?

Topeka wrote:The castle evokes the gothic lair that was concepted for Vader.

Yes, but it also looks a lot like Serenno. The image may lend credence to the rumor about one or more of Dooku's decedents playing a part in the film. (Maybe Gwendoline Christie plays the “Countess Dooku?” After all, she’s only a few inches shorter than Christopher Lee.)

I apologize if this has been mentioned already: Entertinment Weekly has an article about the images / this site.

Has anyone else noted in the "Carosel" pictures, that there's actually a smaller YT-1300 freighter that's being referenced, that's a bit different than the falcon? Maybe those x-wings weren't with the Falcon, but with this new freighter.

I think the smaller one is reference to the original Falcon model. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading that they used a smaller outside model where the actual 1:1 interior set would have not fit inside. Now they scaled the Falcon bigger so it can have the actual 1:1 interior. So now the Falcon is as big as it should actually be.
