I once met a fellow young millennial (perhaps in his early twenties) with a tattoo on each of his shoulders. One of the Autobot insignia, the other of the Decepticons.

Although I did not prompt him for a more in-depth explanation about his choice of tattoos, he did share with me that the cybernetic organisms depicted in Transformers media were like him. Just looking for a world. Even as a Transformers fan only introduced to the property through the Bay films, I understand exactly what he meant.

These films and the plethora of media and toys before them touch something deep and universal among fans of all ages. It's a shame you're not in on it, moviefreak732. But if you ever decide to give the franchise a shot, we are here. We are waiting.

I would have to say exactly the same. And I'm more curious why the trailers failed to entice me at all than about what I'm missing. I even wanted to see the new G.I. Joes more, but somehow never happened yet either.

And, hey, I do still love the old animated full-length feature - where Orson Welles is a planet-devouring planet. That one and the oldest cartoons from the 80s - the original jerky animation and simplicity, the iconic sounds and voiceovers - are how Transformers were always able to hypnotize me back in the prehistoric age.

I call Bullshit. Shia Leboeuf was a thespian singularity with the event horizon being John Turturro. No one was able to resist the charm of the suburban Witwicky family dynamic. It drew in even the most apathetic offspring of generation X.

I once again call bullshit, I know like me you once pretended to remove the Matrix of Leadership from your chest and handed it to the friend with the best toys and semi developed older sister much in dismay of your other friends. You couldn't wait to see that shit live action just like the rest of us. I guarantee you go by Rodimus Jay or some shit on another message board.

Your focus really does determine your reality. If all you see is name actor cash-ins, the tired caricaturization of Bay and business business business, that near-sightedness is a real shame. You're missing out on some impressive large-scale visionary and virtuosic cinema. Bold assertion, yes, but only because I can also see movies as an artform, not simply as opinion-birthing fodder for film bashing circle jerks before and after the fact like the kind you're trying to begin here.

By the way, I never posted about a telesync of ROTS but I remember a thread about a DVD-rip of ROTS that could be enhanced following instructions from user, Zion. In any case, what's your point? That I jumped on the Transformers bandwagon following the release of Age of Extinction? Wrongo! I've been a fan of Transformers since 2007, when I first saw the first Bay film. It wasn't the rejiggering that hooked me.

My posting habits don't necessarily reflect my interest in certain films. Not all can be gauged by reviewing my post history. Sorry. There's more to me than meets your eye.

Really? Have we not learned this lesson? All of the Transformers trailers are good. Michael Bay makes great trailers - that's his jam. And then the movie comes out and it's unwatchable.

I have no sense of the story. I have no idea about the objective. I have explosions and fighting.

It's metal porn....again. I saw this, four times before. Bring on GotG 2.

GotG 2 has no visual edge compared to this. Round-cornered and safe.

This, however, drools cinematographical and editorial ferocity. And the movies always follow suit.

Style is substance and film's best served as a visual medium, especially in the hands of a rare auteur. If all you care about is story and objectives, pick up a book.

Even the maestro's of still lives past understood the need to convey a story through their medium.

The purpose of a teaser is to show me the story, and make me want to see the movie and ask "why did...."

I'm not asking why for anything after seeing this. I simply don't care about it or anyone in it. If I don't care, then your visual medium has no audience, and thus, whatever cinematrographical ferocity you believe it has, is rendered moot and pointless.

You're talking to a visual artist here. Still lives are primarily used as explorations of artistic elements (form, shape, line, texture, color, etc.). That purpose stands on its own. I'm intrigued by a similar preoccupation in film. Maybe that's why I'm more inclined toward what things look like regardless of story information. Although, I admit that storytelling, protagonistic objectives and thematic content are undeniably important. But they aren't all that's going on. For me, anyway.

And a teaser's supposed to tease. Give a taste, a glimpse, a smattering. The theatrical trailers that follow usually highlight more of the narrative. We should know this by now.

But I get it. Bay's majestic and elegantly chaotic cinema doesn't do it for ya. That's fine.

I’ve been living in this franchise for over 10 years now. For Transformers: The Last Knight, we put together a writers’ room designed to greatly expand our mythology, integrating our films in a whole new way. Every movie will interlink.

It was a huge task to expand mythology from the beginning of the world throughout history. We had a great team of writers: Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind); Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man); Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down); Zak Penn (Ready Player One); Lindsey Beer (Barbie); Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider); Christina Hodson (Bumblebee); Steven DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville); Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lost); and Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man).

Through the summer of 2015, they worked in a huge space on the Paramount lot, surrounded by over 10,000 concept images from the franchise’s history: the movies, cartoons, and comic books. They had a life-size Bumblebee, a Megatron head, and many other props staring them down. We pulled from everything. It was a fan’s dream room.

We brought in Transformers historians from Hasbro to educate them on where Transformers has been – so that they could figure out where it can go.

I can safely say that there’s never been a Transformers film with the huge visual scope and expansive mythology as this movie, The Last Knight.

It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out.

It’s a final chapter and a new beginning. Here’s the writers’ log line:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference.

In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Thrilled about the "blowing this one out" and Bay finally moving on (not that it's not great that he's stuck around for so long) but we'll see how this shakes out. Similiar things said in past.

I will admit I haven't seen a Transformers movie since the first one. And thought the marketing looked awful and all the word of mouth was bad for the other films. But I think there's no other blockbuster around that even *looks* as good as Bay's Transformers movies. They just look incredible.

I was reading over my extensive defense rampage of Bay in 2014's Age of Extinction thread and I still stand by every word. The man knows squarely what's up.

I had to take a shower when I got home from my IMAX 3D screening. All the spunk.

But seriously, I was spoiled rotten by this grandly epic and fiercely manic final chapter of Bayformers. More awesome visuals, set-pieces and moments than you're likely to find in maybe five of someone else's movies or throughout most of those safe, neighborhood-friendly Marvel excretions. And what unreal speed and intensity throughout! No one working these massive franchises infuses their movies with as much sustained, madcap energy. And that finale amid clashing planetoids was in-fucking-sane!! My mind is still reeling from the experience!

In all, a mind-warping assault of utter coolness. Curious to see what's next for Bay's non-Transformers oeuvre. And I must say, following these films for the past 10 years or so, especially here in our beloved MF.com forums, has been a fun ride! A real pleasure, ladies and gents!
