Poster is up

Freezus wrote:Bander - Well Remember Leigh Brackett still received writing credit for The Empire Strikes Back even though her draft was tossed out and Kasdan was hired to write a draft that ended up becoming the final film. I suspect Arndt is listed for the same reason.
As for Mark's second billing - Remember Alec Guiness got second billing for A New Hope and the Classic Three got top billing? That's the same approach here as with OT. "Focus on the new generation of heroes and make the legends get second billing."

I'm just going to accept the D23 poster as the one sheet.

Freezus wrote:Since we're all on Trailer hype, We haven't speculated on if the rerelease of the OT for the Marathon would feature the theatrical cuts or the butchered Blu-Ray editions?
SI wrote:It's a poster. I'll live. I actually don't mind it..a lot going on..
It's not like the quality of the poster will reflect the quality of the movie..

Freezus wrote:Don't you mean double fml Since ROTJ did the whole "Let's resurrect the Death Star" ploy...Switching sides might not work. At least PT Sorta worked without a Death Star as a mechanism in the overall trilogy.

Longtime_Sunshine wrote:Brackett was given credit because she died after she gave her first draft and before she started the second and Lucas wanted to pay respect to her memory (and probably take care of her family forever and ever).
Even if you already knew that, I just love that story.
Freezus wrote:I already knew that. I didn't mention her death because I was under the impression that Bander knew that about Brackett. So why the need to point that out if Bander clearly knew that? But I bet you didn't know that Lucas had her draft tossed out in favor of the Kasdan draft huh?
Longtime_Sunshine wrote:Whoa man chill. I wasn't trying to call anyone out or anything. It seems like a different situation with the screenwriters on TFA and like I said I love that story and to share it.
Freezus wrote:Heh, the TPM Vader Advance and the Final one sheet misled us all. Remember these?
Freezus wrote:Wha...? I never was angry when I wrote what I said. I was sitting here giving you that confused look and questioning why you would bring Brackett's death up if you knew her draft was eventually tossed out.
Was Ardnt's draft tossed out? Yes. So it has nothing to do with her death or paying respect to her family/estate. Both screenwriters had their drafts tossed out. That's the nature of the film industry. Studio "X" hires Screenwriter Joe to do a draft; later decides not to use it then hires Screenwriter Steve to do a draft that they think can be better. It's a cyclical thing in the industry.
I wasn't accusing you of calling anyone else out. You're making me sit here longer and giving you even more confused expression on my face than I was 10 minutes ago.

And another Death Star?! Of course!

Alexrd wrote:Same here. I've said this before but this new trilogy, since it doesn't follow George's treatments nor is he involved in its production, is nothing more than licensed fan-fiction. Good or bad, wether I like it or not as a film, it will be nothing but that. 'What-if' stories.
