I really, really want this to be good but I should probably temper my expectations considering how awful Agents of SHIELD turned out to be. We'll see.

In other news out of the NYCC Daredevil panel, Rosario Dawson role was finally revealed as Claire Temple aka Night Nurse. A brief scene between her and Matt Murdock was previewed. More casting reveals included Toby Moore as Wesley, Wilson Fisk's right hand man, Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley aka The Owl, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk and Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich. More extensive footage was shown in addition to the Night Nurse/Murdock scene which is described below (from IGN):

It begins with Karen Page coming to her apartment on a rainy night. The door's ajar and all the lights are out. She enters gingerly, noticing blood stain on the floor. Understandably panicked, she reaches up into a vent to retrieve a cell phone stashed inside. As she turns to hightail it out of there, a man steps out from the shadows. It's Wesley who proceeds to throw her into the wall a couple of times, knocking her for a loop. He retrieves the phone she dropped in the struggle, whips out a switch blade and approaches her for the kill.

That's when we see Matt Murdock -- dressed in his black pro to-Daredevil suit straight out of Man Without Fear -- enter and immediately start brawling with Wesley. The fight is incredibly brutal and vicious, very much like the hand-to-hand combat scene in the Bourne films or the recent Bond movies. The sounds of punches, knife slashes, grunts, and damage act as the soundtrack. Matt and Wesley's brawl leads to them crashing out of the window together and down to the alley below. Matt tries to get up but he passes out face down on the road as the rain drenches him.

At the end of the panel, they showed us an extended version of this scene that fades to Matt dreaming of himself as a little boy sitting in the kitchen of his apartment with his dad, Battlin' Jack Murdock. He tells his tired son to keep up his studies so he doesn't end up like him. "I never studied. Look at how I turned out," said Jack, immediately noticing the sad look on his blind son's face. He takes the boy's hands and lets him feel the lumps and wounds on his battered face. "Come on, Matty. Get to work," said Jack and the scene cuts back to Daredevil waking up in alley just as Wesley attacks him with his knife. A brutal brawl in the rain ensues, ending with Matt wrapping Wesley up in a chain he'd heard jangling. Matt retrieves Karen's phone off Wesley just as Karen shows up, shocked at this black-clad rescuer. Daredevil tells Karen he will take this phone and the data on it to people who can help, but she pleads for him not to take it to police because no one can be trusted.

The next scene showed Matt waking up on Claire's couch, his mask removed. (He refers to his costume as "a work in progress.") She'd found him in a dumpster. He is injured (three broken ribs, a puncture wound on his side, and probable concussion). He's not happy that she's seen his face, but asks her why she didn't just call the police. She said has her own reasons for not calling the cops. Not getting much in the way of useful information from Matt about who he is, she nicknames him Mike because he reminds her of an ex who kept secrets. She'll let him rest there for the night.

The next clip showed Wilson Fisk at an art gallery where he first meets Vanessa, the woman who will one day become his wife. He's staring at white painting, his hulking frame and bald dome seen from behind as Vanessa approaches him. She tries making small talk with him (it appears it's her art gallery or she works there). Fisk seems agitated not by her but by the painting. She asked him what he sees in the painting, how it makes him feel. "It makes me feel alone," Fisk replied, far more vulnerable than you could ever expect from this legendary villain. Marvel's Daredevil would seem to be as much Fisk's origin if you will as Murdock's as a vigilante.

We then saw a scene set at Matt and Foggy's fledgling law office. Karen's made them dinner as a thank you for getting her out of trouble. They said they will bill her as soon they figure out to make bills. She said the meal was her grandma's recipe and she said she's only ever make it for her future husband, which causes a look to cross Matt's face. She says thanks for saving her, and Foggy replies that she should really thank that "nut in a mask." It seems like no one knows Matt's secret identity just yet.

As previewed in concept art, Matt's pre-Daredevil ninja-esque look is straight out of Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.'s "Man Without Fear" mini-series comic. :heavymetal: :funkyninja:

Watched four episodes so far. This show is sick! It's so awesome to have a live action Daredevil that does justice to the source material. Start watching this now!

When I heard that Daredevil was getting a TV show, I thought it was a step back for the character. Boy, was I wrong.

While I'm only five episodes in, it does seems like Marvel has found the perfect format for Daredevil. His story is too deliberate and involved to tackle in a conventional two hour popcorn flick.

So far, I think Agent Carter and Gotham are more fun. But, they definitely can’t touch the quality of the show’s production value. Marvel and Goddard have brought their A-game, and, Netflix has given them the financial backing to match their ambitions.

For me, the show is almost worth checking out for the martial arts sequence alone. They’ve really gone above and beyond with the jujitsu.

Agent Carter was fantastic and Daredevil is already playing out like an epic. I couldn't be more impressed with the show and I'm on Episode 8.

I finally finished watching the entire season. By and large, the writing and execution hold-up for the entire 13 episode run. However, things do get a little too maudlin and “comic-booky” towards the finale.

The biggest surprise for me is the treatment of the characters. Each important player is given plenty of time for thoughtful exploration of their demons. Like comics which inspired the show, the series takes its time to get into each characters head.

In terms of acting, Cox is well cast. In mask and out, he demonstrates the ability to strike the right tones in his performance.

As Fisk, D'Onofrio caught me off-guard. I knew he was the correct choice for the character, but I didn’t expect him to portray Fisk as a giant wounded child. It seems like this choice is the more interesting avenue for the series to take. In some ways, it allows the audience to route for Kingpin’s eventual accession into the heartless man-mountain he is in the comics.

As I indicated before, the action sequences are really well-executed and involving. I do wish that Daredevil and Kingpin’s fight in episode 13 was better. It lacked the ingenuity of the earlier battles with lesser characters. I suppose there’s a chance that they'll square off in a better confrontation in season 2.

My biggest disappointment is with the final costume. It's rather boring compared to the all-black suit and some of Daredevil’s outfits from the comics. Maybe he'll get a better one in the future? Something like this:

I agree. Also, TV is a much better format for Mr. Castle then film. When do they starting filming the new season?

If they're planning a similar April premiere date then I would guess filming will probably start in or around August since that was season 1's timetable.

Elektra has been cast:

Elodie Yung (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “District 13: Ultimatum”) joins the next season of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” streaming only on Netflix in 2016!

Yung will play Elektra, a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle. The first season of “Marvel’s Daredevil” made reference to Elektra, but now Yung will portray one of Daredevil's fan-favorite characters. Elektra marks the most recent major addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she will join Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in the upcoming season of the Netflix Original Series “Marvel’s Daredevil.”

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

So, season 2. I don't think it was as good as the first but still pretty damn good. John Bernthal was another stellar piece of casting and all the Punisher material was overall fantastic. The scenes with him and the Kingpin in prison were gripping, tension filled and had me in suspense. The season's weak point for me was The Hand and Elektra story arc. I didn't find it all that interesting and many things didn't make much sense or seem to go anywhere. What was that huge hole in the ground for? Why were they draining those people of their blood? Maybe I missed some details but I still thought it was tedious and at times silly. As much as I liked Berthal as Frank Castle, I wasn't as high on the actress cast as Elektra. I'm not sure why exactly, she was okay but I never really connected her as Elektra. The final two episodes dealt with wrapping up the Hand storyline and due to this were definitely the weakest of the season. Much of it degenerated into endless fights topped with a very unsatisfying and emotionless Elektra death. Nice visual callback to her comicbook death but it definitely should have been saved for later and done proper with Bullseye.

A few other random thoughts:
Netflix needs to get work on a solo Punisher series immediately!
Daredevil's S2 suit was much better but could still use some streamlining in the smaller details.
That stairwell fight with the biker-gang. Just wow! Great companion piece to the S1 hallway fight.
Bullseye for season 3, please!
Despite some shortcomings it's definitely worth your time. Check it out if you haven't.

I thought it was far better than season 1. There were a lot of fairly dry and boring episodes on the first season, which I still thoroughly enjoyed, but I totally binged this season because of how fast it moved.

Agree that the Hand threat was not as gripping as Fisk, but I thought Matt's struggle with whether or not his approach to vigalante justice was the right one made up for it. Punisher was flat out awesome. Incredible performance. I didn't have a problem with the portrayal of Elektra and it's clear she will be back in some form.

Fisk remains the big bad of this series, so I'm interested to see where that goes next.
