Spidey 2 is just an all around fun movie. It's great to see a summer event picture live up to the hype.

Am I the only one that expected Dr. Ock to speak with an accent? And what was the deal with Spidey taking off his mask every other scene?

They probably realized just how cheezy the Spidey/Green Goblin conversation on the rooftop in the first film was.

It's almost impossible to emote behind the Spidey mask, so they found some decent places for it to come off.

Actually, John Jameson becomes Man-Wolf after bringing back an odd lunar rock.

A blatant werewolf knockoff. One of the lamest Spidey villians ever.

I guess I'm showing my age then. The John Jameson I remember was Man-Wolf.

I got out of comics before Venom was introduced, so I had no idea how it/he works into the spidey history. However, this link http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/v/venom.htm
says that Venom was one of the many odd life forms encountered on Battleworld, became Spidey's new suit for a while and was later picked up by Edward “Eddie” Brock.

It's pretty cool that he is in Spider-Man 2 played by Ted Raimie, but there is no mention of John Jameson being part of the Venom storyline at all.

Spidey gets the black costume on an alien planet during the secret wars crossover Marvel did years back. But I doubt they will introduce the costume that way.

Ahh .. I edited my previous post because I was still reading up on those character descriptions.


I knew John was Man-Wolf though because i owned that series from the early eighties.

It's fine with me if they change the history a little. Man-Wolf was a lame villian, and organic webshooters worked out fine.

Well...you had the ending where the guy's son is the green mask dude (which is where the movie should have finished) and then you had the long drawn out MJ/Wedding ending which should have been cut out.

It could have been covered a lot quickeror even left alone for the next movie; it distracted from the real ending of the son getting daddy's mask - that should have been the cliff hanger ending.

As long no one is signed to do a 3rd movie a cliffhanger ending would be rather odd.

From what I've read, all the priciples are locked into a three picture deal anyway.

I heard it's a two picture deal only.

It would have been great to see a cameo by Eddie Brock, where Peter is getting hit by everyone on the head, while he's trying to pick up his books. He could have been one of them.


Background

It all started with a simple mistake. While participating in the first Secret Wars, Spider-Man really trashed his costume. He came across two other heroes who earlier had similar problems and told him there was a wondrous machine capable of making any article of clothing you can think of. Unfortunately for poor Spidey, they neglected to tell him where to find it. Spider-Man did find a device that he thought looked like "it wants to make a costume". It produced a small, black ball that initially set off his spider-sense as he picked it up. The ball oozed over the confused hero and became a black costume. Spider-Man wore the costume for a few months, enjoying the fact that it produced its own webbing and could change to mimic his civilian clothes.

This all came to an end when Spider-Man discovered his nifty new threads were actually an alien symbiote trying to bond to him permanently. Mr. Fantastic separated the two with his "sonic blaster" and captured the symbiote for study. It should be noted that during the period that Spider-Man wore the alien costume, there was evidence that the symbiote somehow fed on his adrenaline. The costume escaped and rejoined Spider-Man briefly, but the hero tried to kill the symbiote using the noise from a church's bell tower. The plan worked too well, and the symbiote saved Spidey's life before hiding itself in the church.

The other half of this future combo, Eddie Brock, was the star investigative reporter for the Daily Globe. Eddie was a particularly driven man driven to seek the approval of his stone-hearted father. It stands to reason that when his biggest score--a man confessing to be the then-active Sin-Eater--was exposed as a fraud when the real Sin-Eater was captured by Spider-Man, Brock went a little over the edge. The paper fired him, his father disowned him, and his marriage ended. Brock's mind locked onto Spider-Man as the source of all his woes and thus began Brock's burning hatred of the Wall-Crawler. But life continued to deal harshly with Brock, and soon he decided to commit suicide. Stopping by a church to pray before he did the fateful deed, Brock's intense hatred of Spider-Man was noticed by the symbiote who had been hidden there since its last confrontation with Spider-Man. The two bonded and became Venom.

He's the reporter who came up with "Doctor Octopus", and then suggested "Doctor Strange".

At first I was sure that Ted Raimi plays Brock but IMDB names him "Hofmann". Before you ask who the fuck is Ted Raimi here's the answer:

This is Ted Raimi. He stared in evergreens like Seaquest, Hercules and, of course, Xena.
He's Sam Raimis brother. Hence his desperate face he never made the cut.

Whenever Sam Raimi directs a movie or a TV show it is almost certain that Ted Raimi will have a Cameo in it. As will the much cooler and more talented Bruce Champbell!

Did you know that John Landis, director of such gems as Blues Brothers and ehm...whatever,...landed a brief cameo as well? I found it funny.

BTW - Eddie Brock would be a great part for Bruce Champbell.

Organic webshooters make so much more sense than mechanical ones...that's the way the comic should have been in the first place.

My fav Stan cameo is the one in Daredevil, shit DD is the third best comic book adaptation, behind X2 and Spidey 2.
