Commander Bly • Featured In Dark Horse's Star Wars #68

Postby Benovite » August 6th 2004 10:58 pm

In Star Wars: Republic #68 Commander Bly is featured prominently on the cover. He's assigned to Jedi General Aayla Secura. Pabs recently confirmed that's also the case in Revenge of the Sith.

You can download wallpaper of the cover from Dark Horse direct links:

The scenes when Commander Bly, Commander Cody and the rest of the Clonetroopers turn on the Jedi should be really intense. I also like how Lucas is setting up the events of ROTS with the upcoming comics, the novels and the third set of Clone Wars cartoons. Smart move.

I just love the idea that they (clones) seem more "humanized."

Taking off their helmets, having names. It will only add to the intensity of the scenes where they turn on their masters. :heavymetal:

Besides the other points that have been mentioned such as seeing them without their helmet and such, it's also interesting to me that, at least the clone commanders, have names like Cody, Bly and Thire. I would have thought they'd have nondescript names like CL-842 and the like.

They do initially but I'm guessing that the Jedi name their Commanding troopers. Anakin did this with one of the Arc Troopers [Alpha]

The novel Cestus Deception goes into this alot, most of the troopers that actually have names, have names that are basically just shortened version of their numbers (the main trooper in CD being A-98 or something along there being nicknamed Nate). So Bly could just be an abbreviation of BL-I or something.
