Set Diary: A Night at the Theatre

Postby Ternian » August 24th 2004 5:39 pm

Key notes:

* Anakin and Palpatine discuss the on-going war in the Chancellor's Office.

* New entrance for Anakin at the Opera House. Anakin runs up the stairs in the Grand Foyer, pasing Coruscant social elite on the way up - including Dannl Faytonni.

* A ballet is being performed and Palpatine describes to Anakin what the play is about.

* Humans, Twi'leks, Ishi Tibs, Bith, Nikto, Sy Myrths, Anx and other aliens fill the foyer.

* At the top of the stairs, Anakin follows a hallway and enters the box.

The juxtaposition of high class ballet with pure evil gives this theater scene great potential.

Yeah, the set diaries this week seem to be longer and more detailed than the ones of old. That might just be because they're filming transistion shots and not saga-turning dialogue, though.

Still, very cool info. :)

Oh hell yeah. I look forward to seeing Palpatine slowly fasten the puppet strings onto Anakin with his way with words and his seeming 'friendship'... A scene for the more cerebral SW fans, perhaps.

Something tells me that one of the trailers, hopefully the "A" trailer that will come after the teaser, will start with a voice over of Palpatine's Sith history lesson.

This whole idea of the "Theatre" scene is very Shakesperian, as in many of his plays he had the whole "play within a play" thing going on.

I like the idea of this scene alot.

...also, I'm thinking the possibility that the "play" they're watching (if indeed, you do see any part of the play) could be a forshadow-type set up, where it's a tradgedy-like play for example.

They're watching a ballet. Palpatine brings up on old play in conversation.
