It's not supposed to be a clear picture of vader....teasers imply subtlety.

You're an idiot, you can say that about any teaser poster.
You do realise this will be the way most non-SW fans will see Episode III Anakin for the first time - right?

Meh, looks okay...neither good nor bad....It's just a teaser poster, those complaining need to get said knickers out of a bunch post-haste.

I like it, it's fine....whip-de-do.

...roll on the teaser trailer <--- THATS substance worth bitching or not bitching about.

(I'm waiting for the comment "this movie is going to suck - just look at the teaser poster" and I'll officially loose hope in this place sounding ANY different from TF.N. Jesus people, you're adults...get over it...it's JUST a poster, enjoy it...it's STAR WARS)

1. this design should be positioned horizontally instead of vertically to give the cape a chance to change into Vader. It looks like a mutant Vader head has been grafted onto a concerned Anakin's shoulders!

2. The pic of Anakin looks decent, but it's cropped into the corner too far. Makes the image seem cramped.

3. Vader looks like he has sunglasses and is grinning!

poor design and poor execution

Hate for two reasons:

No. 1: I was misinformed
No. 2: The Vader face isn't subtle enough. The swoop of the cape is unnatural. Looks like something I would have made, not a professional artist.

I completely disagree.

the design is based on subtlety, not an exact representation of vader.

Not a fan. I hate the awkward saber for the same reason I hated AOTC's saber. It just doesn't look natural.

And for me the cape doesn't work, not even as a concept. They would have been much better off with a duel pic, or Anakin just standing and looking pissed. As it is...meh. The teaser will be here in 7 days. I can cope.

But Fatboy is right, it does look like something you'd see on the kids merchandise at Kohl's or something.

It could have been a picture of Anakin's turd and i would have liked it. I think it looks 'old skool', especially with the distorted vader look, as if it were taken from ANH concept art. Awesome.

I'm sorry T, but I couldn't help but laugh at that pic. While FB and LMM did a fine job - a lot better than I could have - I just thought it sucked.

It bridges the gap (the point of EpIII) for the audience. It shows Anakin (who will be Vader) on an OT vehicle.

FB's teaser was the EXACT same concept as the first teaser but it was a reflection instead of a shadow....you think that's original and inspiring? That picture was fucken boring. It's a production still for christ's sake.

I'm so happy fans don't have any say in the production and marketing of these films.

EDIT: The Episode 3 poster if fans had their way...

Bridging he gap for which audience? The hard core Star Wars audience or the average movie going audience? Because the average movie goer isn't going to know he's standing on the bridge of OT vehicle. Or know said vehicle's name.

Then again, you don't like anything, so why am I bothering.

I think the poster's pretty neato.

Patrick

Vader blasting through the door of the Tantive IV is a very famous movie scene - whether or not you are a die hard Star Wars freak-geek. It's almost iconic. The PT audience is going to associate Hayden with becoming Vader, the OT audience is going to realise how the PT became the OT they love.

And what's the bullshit about me not liking anything? :?

When I first saw it, I was reminded of the original book cover art. Something about the color scheme, and the distorted Vader, resonate with me on the poster.

I don't know if I like the teaser poster that much, but it's grown on me a little. To be honest, I didn't think the other teasers from the PT have been that great either. The simplicity of the fan poster AICN ran (I know someone here created it, sorry I can't recall who) is a much more subtle, and in my opinion, powerfully elegant image.

First post, BTW. I've lurked here for months. Love the flavor of the discussion!

I'm loving it, but of course it's the first oficial release from the OS, so of course I'm loving it.

nice touch with the scar on his face though.

I agree the cape/vader mask is too "in your face" - they should have been more subtle like they were with the anakin-vader shadow poster for EP1. However, we're being force-fed Vader for the next 6 months to remind us of the point of going to see the movie.

Your average fan won't know (or realise) that Vader is going to appear in EP3 probably until the trailer is released.

I am not aroused for a number of reasons stated in earlier posts... the piece, taken as art and not a teaser poster, seems flawed in many ways.

My initial reaction upon seeing the image was - this must be a fake.

Well I'm with the people who prefer the Fatboy/LMM one. This is one of those cases that just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It may have sounded a great idea sitting round a table but, the second someone saw a rough of this, the plug should have been pulled. It really does look, as someone else pointed out, like the cover to an EU book.

I agree that the Fatboy/LMM poster was a helluva a lot better. This poster is way too cartoony.

We need a barf emoticon...

It's awesome, get over it... you republican :P
I'm sure they got a piece of silk, put it over the Vader mask and tugged at it to get the contours they needed for the cape.

Duke, where did you get the high res poster? :P
And... do you have anything else? :P

Hey... It writes: "VERSION A" at the bottom of the hi-res poster.
I'll betcha the Anakin/Vader shadow one was one of the other ones.
