Finally confirmation of a dream sequence.

That is not confirmed. In AOTC, we don't see Anakin's dream where his mother is in pain. He just tells us about it.

Cool report, though.

This dream is an instrumental part in some of the choices Anakin makes - the younglings, Mace, Obi-Wan etc.

So if the yellow eyes don't occur during the dream, just when are they?

Looks like he's at Mustafar to me, given his sweaty face, the red background and the long walkway stretching into the distance. Maybe he's turning to face Obi-Wan/Padme on the landing pad?

The dream sounds cool, Anakin tells Sidious his deepest fears and of course, fear is the ally of the Sith and the path to the Dark Side. There's no doubt that this is how Sidious discovers that Anakin is married and expecting a child (maybe more than the Jedi know at that point?), which means that Padme could be a very valuable chip to Sidious later in the film. I suppose Anakin, not wanting Padme to die and terrified of a repeat of the situation with his mother, will be bending heaven and earth to get the ability he needs to stop it. Maybe he's so caught up in changing the future, he won't fully understand the gravity of what he's doing in the present.

"Always in motion, the future is" ;)

It might work against Sidious when Anakin is the one choking her and he clicks this is the realisation of the preomonition, one would think it almost enough to knock him right away from the Dark Side?

Heh, I remember myself and the rest of the audience cracking up while Anakin was saying "No... No mother no" and tossing around shirtless ;)

The problem there was the arms.

The arms needed to be above the blankets. ;)

Yes, I was at Hoyts in Sydney. Fuckin hilarious when Anakin 'masturbated' below the sheets. The audience pissed themselves laughing... :D

Powerful stuff this new story is. So from what I can deduct from all this, Palpatine probably tempts Anakin with the possibility of learning to extend someones life or 'stop people from dying' in their discussion. Perhaps Anakin feels more comfortable about the 'wise' Sith when he's confronted with the possibility of Padme's death, essentially trying to prevent what happened to his mother. Maybe he feels that if he was a Sith he could have saved his mother.

"Anakin, give in to your anger, it's the only way to save your wife".

Nah, I think it's more subtle than that. At the time the Mace confrontation takes place, I think Sideous has only planted a seed in Anakin's mind as to the power of the dark side -vs- death. He's mentioned Darth Plagueis & the ability to cheat death, but Anakin has made no firm decision.

When Mace confronts Sideous & appears to have him beaten, Anakin knows he's about to loose his only hope at saving his wife - which is obviously unacceptable given his fears. Sideous really doesn't have to taunt Anakin in any way, shape or form at this point - Anakin will gladly make the choice on his own to prevent loosing another person he loves.

We know that Sideous has been mentoring Anakin & pumping his ego for years - at least from the time of AOTC, and we can assume well before that. We also know that Sideous has shared with Anakin the story of Darth Plagueis.

Mace confronts Sideous & seems to have him beaten. It's around this time that Anakin runs in to the room & sees what is happening. Anakin says something to Mace to which he responds "You can explain the difference after he's dead". At that point the proverbial light goes off in Anakin's head when he realizes - shit, if he kills him, I'll never learn how to save Padme! As a result, Anakin turns on Mace & "blindsides" him with an attack of some sort, simply to prevent him from killing Sideous, so that he can save his chance at learning the secret to cheating death.

Couple of things, first, I do not think that Anakin kills Mace to save Palp, if you recall the look on Anakins face when he swings, it is more in line with him embracing all of his anger and striking Mace. It may be something that Mace says that triggers him, even though it may be while Palp is playing possum to help lure Anakin in. His anger will make him kill Mace, not his desire to save Palpatine, thus making his turn complete.

Second, I love the fact that the dream sets up so much for ESB, and how much revealance it adds to Yoda's reluctance to train Luke and more importantly the speech about the future to Luke when he has the dream about Cloud City, "Help them you could, save them you can, but you would destroy all for which they have fought and suffered". It rings so true to what happenes to Padme.

The way it is explained to Anakin is very seductive; an extremely good twist on words for the naive.

What's got me excited is the Darth Plagueis bit. Exactly what did Plagueis do that shows the true power of the Sith? Is it surviving death? or something else?

This sounds absolutely knowing. No "could", "perhaps", "maybe" etc. Don't know how the others feel, but I want to know it all, and I want to know it now!

But anyway - thanks a lot for the good work!

Guy wrote:Wouldn't Chancellor Palpatine telling a story about an ancient Sith set off alarm bells in Anakin's head....

If Palpatine were sure that Anakin was on his side and wouldn't go against him, a gentle reveal while dangling the prospect of his wife's imminent death in front of him wouldn't be too confronting. Like Luke telling Leia that she was his sister in RotJ. He says that Vader is his father...which means Vader is her father too but it's unsaid and you can see she gets it and so does the audience.

If Palpatine starts talking about Darth Plagueis like they're on a first name basis, Anakin is going to get that Palpatine is a Sith and so is the audience.

I hope we get some spoilerage on the whole Dooku & Palpatine relationship. The Count can't seriously believe when he helps cement his Sith masters powers as Emperor of the victorious Republic that as leader of the Seperatists he will receive 'official' amnesty. Just makes no sense.
