In response to Tern's comment about why the council haven't sent Anakin, is it because they don't feel he is a safe bet after what happened Dooku. I seem to remember earlier reports that Anakin is seriously peeved tha Obi-Wan gets sent and he doesn't seeing as he's the hero of the clone war and all that. Palps could know they wouldn't send him, making his resentment grow, then he tells Anakin that even if the council don't trust him he does and appoints him as his personal body guard. Am I on the right lines or way off??

Clone Intelligence is the organization in which Sidious controls the galaxy with. :heavymetal:

Like CollectingHQ.com controls all those Rebelscum sites or MF and all Starwars Internets. :whatevaho:

This kind of move will be interesting to see how Luca$ plays it on the big screen because it could play out a few different ways:

1) First show "Sidious" informing Greivous that a council member is heading his way, then "Palpatine" tells Anakin the scoop re: Greivous's whereabouts and have him tell the council knowing that they won't assign Anakin. Not extremely obvious that Palps = Sidious; but, it would be implied enough for the audience since Sidious knows what Palps will do

2) First "Palps" tells Anakin; then Anakin tells the Council; then Anakin vents his frustration that Obi-Wan gets the job to Palps; then "Sidious" contacts Grievous with the Obi-Wan news. This seems to be what is occurring based on the spoiler report.

3) Maybe - the same scenario as number two above; but, "Sidious" contacts Grievous AFTER Obi-Wan has already arrived and this is how Obi-Wan puts the pieces together because he sees Grievous making contact and he doesn't see "Palps" face, but instead sees Anakin walk into the room and puts two and two together.

4) Or the Luca$ option - none of the above. He abandons the idea during post production and replaces it with a trip through the Wookie chocolate factory

5) Or makes the entire "trap" concept so vague that nobody has a clear idea what's going on.

So, maybe this means that the audience gets the Palps=Sidious connection established through the trap Anakin helps to set instead of a shocking reveal?

Again Fucking A! We should be wondering why the council hasn't sent Anakin? Because Anakin isn't a Jedi Knight by this point. He's already quit, after defeating and killing Dooku which majorly pisses them off. (There is a scene we see in the trailer where Obi-Wan and Anakin are talking in the Jedi Temple) This scene is just after he's left the Jedi order and Obi-Wan asks Anakin a favour - to report anything suspicious or useful to him whilst in employment as Palpatine's bodyguard. Palpatine passes on the info to Anakin, who passes it to Obi-Wan, who takes it to the council. They send Obi-Wan.....

Am i way off here? I can't remember who told me that the scene in the hallway was where Obi-Wan asks Anakin a favour.....

Is that confirmed then? So is the reason that Anakin doesn't go after Grievous due to the fact that he is asssigned to look after Palpatine as a bodyguard? I'd always been under the assumption he packed in the Jedi act to become Palpatine's bodyguard. Looks like i got my facts wrong. Hell if you're looking after Palpatine you're not going to be too far away from that fine piece of ass Padme Amidala. I'd be quite happy to stay on Coruscant.....

I think the reason Obi-Wan is sent instead of Anakin has to do with Anakin's recent promotion to the council - which is why Anakin isn't phased about Obi-Wan going instead of him - he's too busy being giddy about his promotion.

Palpatine pulls a few strings to get Anakin on the council. He knows if Anakin is being promoted that they'll send Obi-Wan instead.

AND - the way he presents the info to the council might play a part in them promoting him.

My only question is... is this before or after The Dream?

And why specifically does Palpatine want to whack Obi-Wan? The obvious answer, of course, is to separate him from Anakin. Also, Obi-Wan has been a thorn in his side for many years. However, surely there are more dangerous Jedi to dispose of first - Yoda and Mace being the foremost. Maybe Yoda is on Kashyyyk facing a similar trap. But why not set a trap for Mace, too, instead of Obi-Wan? Two thoughts come to mind. One, by pitting Obi-Wan and General Grievous against each other, no matter who wins Palps has cleaned up one loose end, and possibly two. But more interestingly, I wonder if Palpatine can see the future enough to realize that Obi-Wan may be a legitimate threat someday? It'd be fun if Palps gets a glimpse of the OT as motivation for ROTS.

Nope, I've been JMM since the dawn of the Star Wars internet sites. Use that tag for everything.

As for the Luca$ things, you'll actually find that I'm one of GL's biggest supporters. Lucas the filmaker is completely different from Luca$ the multimillion dollar corporation. My concerns are when the two get in conflict because the filmaker doesn't make "choices" based on his art instead of worrying about the consequences to the bottom line. IE - this Puppet Master plot. Will the filmaker leave it in the movie or will Luca$ cut it out because he's focused on meeting a two hour length so he can get more shows per day and have a bigger bottom line $$$.

Kinda like on the Simpson's when Homer has the eternal battle between good and evil. "I am evil Homer... I am evil Homer."

I've very proud of Lucas the filmaker's nuts in this film. He's so far holding true to his vision of the prequels, such as the recent revelation that midichorians will be back on center stage. I just he doesn't get hack crazy because he's worried about pacing.
